I can't bloody understand why the discounted price of the DragonBorn DLC is the same as the discount of Legendary edition when it hits daily. The past 2 sales has followed this formula.

I just said fuck it and bought the legendary edition (last year) despite having the base game because it was better than waiting for a sale I know is never going to happen because this is how Bethesda is with their DLC.

Dark Messiah eh...
Could do a full article on melee combat systems and the underlying subsystems and effective, symbiotic level design and mechanics... Or something.

I'm a sucker for FPS, as you know, but an even bigger one for good first person melee games. Of which there are precious few.

Although you mustn't forget the great Chilean oddity, Zeno Clash.
Lol, you're member now too =d
So I am! Welcome to the club, us!

Pfft. in the first column from right there are two 3s. There are also two 2s in the middle row.

0/10 not even started.

you know, setting how much i'm liking the game, it's really hard to pin how i feel about valkyria's morality

like i can appreciate that there's no prisoner-taking, this is war and two guys go in and only one gets out, that's understandable. i appreciate also how experience and money isn't tied to how many people you killed (not counting aces, which are a really gamey thing that isn't really worth talking about) but how quickly (and i guess by that it means few people got harmed) you completed your mission

then there's more questionable things like missions in which you have to "leave no imperials alive" or just equipping your soldiers with flamethrowers, which are pretty darned dark things to do heh. it kinda ruins the innocence of rosie's character when i picture her burning other people to death with a flamethrower. the empire is also ridiculously nazi-styled with like evil dudes with evil laughs and mustaches.

i would've really enjoyed if enemy soldiers had names and traits the same way your squad does, really cement that idea that people on both sides are just drafted to kill each other for reasons that probably don't really concern them. it was one thing i really liked about a pretty old game called deception 3, which had you killing dudes that had names and little bios and damn if that didn't make it hard to kill them (specially since you used pretty gruesome death machines like crazy iron maidens and giant guillotines and other nasty stuff). i feel like that would've been perfect in valkyria, add some weight to death rather than fighting a generic army of clone troopers

i find it interesting because this game is actually trying to talk about concentration camps, pows, firing squads, breaking chain of command, massive drafts, that sort of stuff. as someone that's really interested in games that try to examine and study morals as related to player interaction, i really wish games like valkyria were more consistent. this is not spec ops where you play as the bad guys in an extreme apocalypse now situation. you should be able to complete some missions (specially the ones that actually do mention capturing enemy soldiers) without murdering your way through them and the faces behind the empire shouldn't be cartoon mustache villains

It's not like I want those loli mods anyway.

Sure... Keep saying that. Someone is bound to believe you.

Also lol. Thinking of Zeno Clash made me question what ACE Team could be up to, I love their aesthetics so I figured I'd check. And ofcourse the first review I see is this.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
But I just went on Enhanced Steam. It say the Digital Deluxe Edition is not available in Russia.

Every sub is technically available everywhere unless a given country is listed as purchase-restricted and the controlling flag is set to "No".

I definitely understand where you're coming from. At the end of the day though with the subjects it handles it still does them too lightly. I'm guessing they just wanted to keep the game with a lighter tone even when dabbling in those subjects. Would have loved to see it perhaps a bit darker but still can't say I'm exactly against how it wanted to do things. Its a decent enough middle ground. As for the enemy very few enemies but some have nicknames.

We need a brave soul to test this out.

The hard part of this equation is not finding a brave soul to test it out, it's finding Russian user that has the means to do the purchase, gifting and a way to get paid (that does not require one to do a bank wire-transfer).

yeah, it's for sure not a deep analysis on war or anything like that, but it does not circle around things which surprised me a lot

you have soldiers in your squad that are like 15 or even 12 years old. all your lovely characters kill and it's not really an uncharted "ehhh let's just overlook it" thing. there's talk of torture, labor camps, all sorts of nasty shit. this is what i find weird, the game's actively trying to make me think about dark things by constantly bringing them up, but then wants me to ignore that i'm burning people with flamethrowers.

it doesn't by any means ruin the experience but it does muddle it and when you're trying to tackle delicate subject matter you gotta be extra careful to not make this kind of mistakes.

i'm glad it's trying, but seeing silly contradictions like that "save all the darcsens by making sure no imperials are left alive" mission show that developers are not really thinking everything through, heh.

not really asking for the game to be darker, just more consistent with how it wants to be. i agree that it gets a decent middle ground but i wish it just went with one side all the way

VC2 definitely is more consistent because of it's school theme. However with that it never dabbles into any of the stuff here at all from my recollection. It's a more straight forward anime-ish story. Thus why a lot dislike it. I didn't mind it however and after finishing VC1 I still don't. They both offer something different.

It's literally as simple as switching to the store you want to buy the item from after clicking the "Purchase as a gift" button. But I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself, just in case.

Can you PM me the step by step? I'll try asking the Russian I know if he's willing to do it.

Still too high. Also I'm stuck with Steam Wallet.

EDIT: Bethesda just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Skyrim (I'm an expert), but assets and DLC are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in DLC pricing, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the gaming public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Skyrim for either DLC's, nor will they purchase any of Bethesda's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Bethesda has alienated an entire market with this move.

Bethesda, publicly apologize and lower the DLC price for Steam or you can kiss your business goodbye.

yeah, i'm not sure how i'd feel if they went that road, specially now that i've been lured with all the nasties from valkyria 1

i wasn't expecting a jewish poland simulator when i bought this so i dunno how i'd feel about a highschool slice of life story as a sequel

Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition is like a $1.50 from Nuuvem. The deals are WAY better than Steam beats that russian shit people trade keys for.

Morning guys, did I miss anything interesting? I slept super bad, don't have energy to read 10 pages :(

Steam overlay doesn't work on Rogue Legacy? when I try to bring it up, it just pauses the game :(

Just beat VC. It was a enjoyable ride however I have to say, while unpopular I still prefer VC2. My main gripe with VC was just that the mission difficulty felt kinda all over the place for someone of my caliber. Some missions were just right while other's were more than just scratching my head to figure it out. There was more than a few that I couldn't figure out how to beat without cheesing my way through with orders and beelines. Which just kinda takes away from it. You shouldn't want the person playing going for the quickest route as soon as a mission stars. Might have been just me but I never had that issue with VC2.

Aside from how I felt about the mission difficulty I really liked everything else.
Story was great as were the cutscene's and voice acting. Plus the graphics look phenomenal thanks to the art style especially when down sampled. Still a worthy purchase and something you should play when given the chance. Just don't feel bad if you have to get a little help in some missions.
