I'm amazed how quickly PS3 fell off a cliff, despite coming out later than 360 it has died far earlier. The prices on last gen consoles has remained too high, friday I noticed the Xbox One was only £50 more than the 500gb PS3 in Argos, crazy.

Don't see how next year will be a train wreck. The game line-up for Fall 2015 seems like it will be even better than his year.

They set the bar extremely low with a price of 329 and two free games. If it goes back to 400 even 350 With no free games. The sells are gonna drop like a rock. Also face facts x1's 2015 line up is nothing compared to ps4. The short term thinking may give MS boasting Rights for November, but set them up for disaster Next year.

not if things go back the way they were with price. Microsoft has to keep things this compelling price-wise, because it's clearly where the market is at. If it goes back up to $399.99 or even $349.99 w/out a pack-in, the problems come right back.

The pricing will (has to) remain.

Xbox 360 was £99 at a few places.

I have a console that isn't as good as another, but it sells when it's cheap and has a heap of free games. That means I have the best console...

It's undeniable that Sunset Overdrive is one of the best games released this Autumn/Winter. Both in terms of gameplay and for the simple fact that it shipped with the least number of technical issues.

The fact that sales don't reflect this is yet further evidence that the market at large isn't open to new experiences that put fun gameplay ahead of serious/grim dark storytelling.

Sunset Overdrive will eventually be known as this generation's Dragons Dogma. An exceptional game that the market simply wasn't ready for and one that people continually beg Insomniac/MS for a sequel.

Was that true of the wii last gen? This seems only to apply when it is convenient. Quality is really subjective and there are many factors that influence sales. Thats why sales discussion always break down when the focus shifts to the respective quality of the consoles.

We're talking PS vs Xbox here...not Wii U. When there's an upfront price difference of $100 between the two, the cheaper one will have a big advantage.

Not to sound like a negative nancy, but being exclusive to Xbox One was an awful place to be considering Insomniac's fanbase is largely on PlayStation AND the PS4 was the dominant console at the time of release.

If it was multiplatform, I could easily see it crossing a million by the end of the year, but alas, it's exclusive for a reason, Insomniac got paid, and Xbox One has a true gem in its arsenal.

I think it's a matter of momentum and consumer awareness. A successful holiday period for Microsoft will do wonders, word of mouth will help remove any existing pre-conceived ill-thought towards the platform. The price is there, the value is there and the initial launch stigma (disaster) is dissipating.

The only momentum X1 had was in the minds of people like you on message boards. It was outsold by 2:1 by ps4 in the US the past two months. The ps4 was actually gaining the momentum with launch of every x1 exclusive and os update. November might cause it to have a sustained sales but that's the debate.

The way that a significant number of people treat the US as the end all be all of success. Case in point being the way the 360 was viewed.

Given that the 360 ended up "second" and to this day is still a bee's penis ahead of the PS3 worldwide based on the US and UK pretty much alone, I can understand why.

Yep, X1 deserves success its a great console. Black Friday thread showed a similar outcome but at least were using receipts here. Not accurate but it's something, roll on NPD

I personally can't see X1 overturning the defecit of the last couple of months in November, it will be closer but PS4 will still sell the most.

I wish peoplr would stop saying this. There is nothing special about Microsofts lineup.

In your completely subjective opinion. I'd be surprised if too many truly objective people out there wouldn't agree that of the Xbox One and PS4, the Xbox One at this stage has the better exclusive lineup.

Things can change. 2015 looks a tad bare for the One of the announced stuff. 2016 Picks up again huge.

Because that would show that this site is not reliable.

Do we have last years BF-numbers?

Sony had sold most their consoles a couple of weeks befor BF, and were extremely supply constrained for BF, no? So Xbox One winning last years BF like they won december doesn't sound to far fetched to me...

While I agree the game would have been much better received had it been multiplatform, the only reason we even got the game was because MS was willing to fund it without asking for the IP in return, something that Sony wanted.

Hopefully we'll get a sequel, if not MS funded than a third party publisher will be willing to step in, but it's exclusivity doesn't diminish the fact that it's one of the best games of the year. Whether sales reflect that or not is irrelevant as we know from past experience that some of the best games ever released didn't set the market on fire...

I'm really not surprised if it's true in the UK the XBOX One deal was borderline desperation.

A console, four games including Unity, Forza and GTA V as well as £5 credit.

The best PlayStation deal had TLoU remastered and LBP 3. Both bundles for £299.99 so i think Microsoft ran away with it.

What? The best PS4 deal was PS4 with DC for £279.

Considering the doom and gloom around the Xbox One anything better than getting beaten by the PS4 5 to 1 is a win and a surprise for some.

Sounds reasonable to me as well. The percentages of last year don't seem too far fetched to me.

The way this research is conducted makes the result worthless.

Fun fact: It's still better than madeupchartz because it's based on an actual sample instead of random guesses and 0 market reserach.

If it was all about price the Wii U would be destroying the PS4/XB1 no?

Wiiu is good if you love Nintendo games, if you want and array Of different games mainly 3rd party games. Wiiu just isn't an option multiplats are always the highest selling games.

Maybe if the Wii U had the same kind of third party support that both have but saying price wasn't also a big factor into why XB1 will likely outsell PS4 in Nov is silly given all the offers and the lower price point compared to PS4.

There is a reason the $330 price tag lasts until the end of December NPD.

Fake edit -
Lol, you're not believing these numbers are you?

The funny thing is there isn't really any numbers anyway.

Even if MS win (most likely), it is a pyrrhic victory considering the amount of money they bleed while Sony barely budge an inch with their console still selling at launch price and one bonus game.

IMHO Sony absolutely don't care if MS closes the sales gap between the consoles in the US. It will take more than one holiday for MS to even the console sold number. And if MS keep the price at 349 $ after the holidays, Sony will probably price match them.

Pretty sure it would have sold more on a PS console. even if the PS4 and XBO had the same instell base. I think PS players are more open to new IP's that aren't fucking shooters. Maybe I say this cause I'm a european though...

i own a ps4 myself, and have no doubt in my mind that it'll have a much better line-up than xbone in the long run, just like the way ps3 started slow and gave us all the best gems of its generation in the end..

BUT.. i agree that the bone has a really attractive line-up at the moment compared to ps4, in terms of exclusives, it has sunset, forza, marter chief and dead rising if you dont have a gaming pc, which are all pretty good games. And only thing ps4 has is infamous atm, and slightly better running multiplats that havent been all that good this year either in my opinion.

combine that with the offer of the decade (bone+4games), im suprised xbox didnt outsell ps4 by a bigger margin..

god people get pretty angry for any article where MS sells more than the PS4. Jesus christ. If you dont own the console then what is it to you? Who cares what sells more it really wont effect too much - particularly since this is just one day out of the year?

Anger? I thought the general gist of most people in this topic was 'No Shit'.
