"Kinda wish the Revenge wasn't another meter mechanic, but eh. I couldn't listen to anything, how does it work/fill up?"

It's the same as the Revenge meter in SF4 so far as they showed. It's just that there doesn't seem to be supers tied to the EX bar any more.
It's not. Ryu filled up his meter using a punch before going into super.

There was no parrying in either match. I don't think parries are back.

I hope they aren't. Rather they try to fine-tune Focus or upgrade from there....no parries aren't an upgrade of Focus.

I hope the debate from the third strike criticisms thread doesn't gradually just pour into this one haha. But yeah I would like to see something completely new and different rather than an upgraded focus or parrying.
But I can't complainin'. SF5 YO!!!

watch the new trailer, when the 2nd round starts and ryu beats up chun, she is parrying 3 hits from him.

I prefer parries to focus tbh.. But it's whatever for me.. The game still looks different enough from SFIV for me to like it.. I didn't mind SFIV either, but I always expect Capcom to revamp the mechanics of the game in each iteration..

Guys I think there's Just Defend in the game but not parry.

There are clearly two different sparks when Combofiend's Chun Li is blocking. The standard whitish smoke (almost no effects) vs a blue spark.

I think Just Defend might be the way you can avoid chip damage to die.

The things that chun-lee at 0:47 in the trailer look more like blocks to me, but even if they are something like parries how would it actually work in this game? We are going to see what's up with that sometime i guess.
What's the next event big enough for a new showcase?

The spaghetti sold me on the game lol nah but i liked what i just witnessed they just need to fix Ryu speed but the game is still in pre-alpha so i am glad that they at least showed us real live gameplay

What about the orange spark at the 0:52 mark? Is that what parrys are going to look like? not sure.

Yoshinori Ono took the stage after the Capcom Cup finals, and confirmed that Capcom Cup will in fact be returning next year, but that wasn't all.

He also noted that thanks to the partnership with Sony, they can make the event even bigger than it already was, and the prize pool is confirmed to be at least $500,000 next year, meaning that the Capcom Pro Tour stakes are even higher in 2015.

Please look forward to further announcements regarding Capcom Cup 2015 in the near future.

Just saw the posts about it. Half a million is quite a lot of money.

Parries might be only available during EX mode. Either way they need to do something preventing them from being constantly available.

any frame advantage on that, or just chip immunity?

The biggest negative I can see coming from the $500k deal is that that tourney next years guna be lamed the fuck out.
No testing out new shit. No pullin out pocket characters. There's too much money on the line to try to be entertaining.

You think people weren't doing that for 30k?

Who says things are not gonna be nerfed and new stuff discovered to make the event a little different? A year should make a lot of a difference.

I can sure as hell tell you I didn't think Xian would beat Daigo with a Dhalsim.
