Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

I know I said I wasn't going to call anybody out, so I apologize for this DavidDesu. But I want to make it clear I wasn't pulling my question out of my ass and honestly wanted to know why FH2 might be viewed as gimmicky.

But I appreciate the explaination, FlutterPuffs. In spite of the unnecessary rebuke.

I've only played a little of FH2, and tbh I think it's more of my kind of game than Driveclub. :p

Just ignore the fanboys for both games. Driving games always brings out the best/worst in NeoGAF anyway.

Holy God!
Evolution please make a sequel for this game :D

Its amazing how we've come full circle. It use to be an open world game comes out and people are all "oh wow" " holy shit you can go anywhere" etc and now a straight up arcade racer is released and its refreshing. This little game has really grown on me, I find myself playing the SP daily and always going for best lap times against friends.

My favourite arcade racer is PGR2 and I'm finding this game even more fun in Single Player. Granted I enjoyed PGR2 a lot more in Multiplayer. I feel like the tracks in DC work well against AI but, along with the physics don't necessarily translate well to MP. That's honestly ok with me since we are getting a nice stream of DLC to extend SP and I like SP!

This game is really getting my racing mojo going though, I really feel like going back and playing GT6 since I dropped it when next gen came out. I still think that game has the best physics in a console racer ever. Looks beautiful too although DC shows its age. Funny how this arcade racer will be the reason I am as stoked for GT7 as I am now. OH and that P1 hot lap was fucking amazingly fun.

Driveclub bout to have the best rendered Japan in videogame history *tee hee*

Wait wait wait, they are adding Japan as a location? F meeeeeeeee!

Yeah. In particular, Sony already has Gran Turismo, they don't need a slightly different Gran Turismo. It's great that Driveclub manages to distinguish itself. And since it's $34.99, the game + all the season pass content is now the price of a regular game, which is awesome.

Exactly. Great points.

FH2 is a very fun game, and so is DC, but different. I'm not a fan of FH2's DLC structure, and this is where DC has an amazing value, specially at current prices.

Broke down and picked up the game on sale. I have to admit Im very impressed. Visually it is quite the looker and the physics model seems quite solid. Been playing a lot of GT lately and was pleasantly surprised that the cars behave in a predictable and expected way with a nice balance between sim /arcade. The weather effects and lighting are amazing. Kudos to Evolution. Now that I've put some time into this game I really want them to make a game or add-on like RalliSport Challenge. These environments along with their engine and some dirt/mud/gravel tracks would be godly in my opinion.

I just stayed up watching the dynamic weather change at the finish line with fireworks and lightning setting in after sunset in Scotland. It's now almost 3:30am…woops.

Is there a total time played counter in the game somewhere? I'd love to see how many hours I've sunk into this baby.

To the guy asking about FH2 and DC, I actually have both, DC edges it for me, while keeping the fun of Arcade racing, it still handles and reacts like a real car would, and the individuality of each car is more pronounced on DC.

Then you have the visuals, DC is mind blowing, while FH2 is brilliant in a comic way.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Holy.

Shit.

I have a Geforce Titan and an OC 3820. I can play pretty much any PC game I want at high or max settings. I have an Xbox One. I've had a PS4 since launch.

I bought Driveclub the day it came out - and yeah, it was pretty, but it wasn't breathtaking or anything. Occasionally, the light hit just right and it looked pretty good. But like most circuit racers these days (Gran Turismo, Forza, etc), it felt oh so very "static." And the image quality wasn't all that great, anyway - jaggies were ever present and the interiors weren't all that amazing.

But DAMN(!) does this weather update change the game. The heavy rain, at night, looks absolutely incredible. The lighting is out of control. The rain and how it moves when you turn... the glare... the ... the ... the everything looks so freaking good.

Super Mario 64
Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time
Running from the whale in Sonic Adventure
Stepping out of the sewers in Oblivion
Grand Theft Auto III on my iPhone
Witcher 2
Battlefield 3
Pilotwings in 3D w/o glasses.

... and now Driveclub goes on my list of times graphics have absolutely blown my mind.

I know I'm getting this game for Christmas, and after reading this thread the wait is killing me. Sounds like it's made quite the turnaround since it launched.

what, like 20 hours?

More like 200. And counting. I was happy playing GTA while the servers were messed up, but they had to go ahead and fix it for the most part. And then they release new content every fucking month. I HATE YOU EVO YOU ARE TAKING OVER MY LIFE. Ugh X(

I'm the same way. I have sooo much to play but I always come back to Diveclub. Gonna add u as a friend on PSN. Need more driveclub competition lol.

Yeah I've put a lot of time in the game as well. I can't say how much though because for some reason the stats always fail to load. (I have no idea why that stuff isn't saved locally.) At any rate, I've probably put in at least 40 hours so far - though I wouldn't be surprised if the total was actually a lot higher. There's just a lot to do. But the challenges are what's like crack for me - especially the drift challenges which it turns out I'm actually kind of decent at. Who knew.

the rain drops and wet roads looks amazing..but the the actual rain streaks dont look good at all by themselves. Which sucks for those of us who race in first person view.

i would like the wet camera effects of 3rd person in first person view please.

Driveclub is the best racer in years...years I tells ya! No other racer has had this sensation of speed and adrenaline! At times it's just downright scary! Throw in the most graphically impressive next gen engine to date, add in huge selection of events/tours with more to come, and to round off throw in a touch of cocaine/heroin in the form of challenges! Oh and if you like hundreds and thousands on your ice cream, have a lovely amount here, in the form of sensational car sounds. Seriously, anyone on the fence with this, GET OFF THE FUCKING FENCE, I SPENT AGES PUTTING THAT BASTARD UP! Once, off the fence buy it ...JUST BUY IT, and thank me and the rest if the GAF DC'ers later.

Have they patched the broken audio volume levels yet for the weather effects?

Yes, we now have rumbling thunder, windscreen wiper sounds, lightning hitting objects and the rain splashing off everything......oh and deafening wind sounds when travelling at 1000000000mph in the venom.

EDIT :: but some people are still not happy with the volume, im using headphones btw.
