Game is insanely beautiful. Although it seems a shit load harder than most racers I've played lately.
We're looking into this as well based upon your feedback
As someone who hasn't bought it yet, what's so special about it? Just being able to have weather conditions in some of the tour events? Finally decided to get the Elements Tour Pack and oh my this is just...This is next gen.

In a nutshell...yes, however the events themselves rock!
Nah, you don't need all of them, you just need enough to keep progressing through the brackets. I finished the main tour 35 stars short of 100%. You can even get all the trophies in that tour without getting all the stars.I'm pleasantly surprised by the difficulty in the game. I'm not super great at racing games, but I'm having a hard time getting full stars on most events. In fact the majority of events I am 1 star short. Is this normal on your first playthrough until you unlock more cars and go back to these events, or do most of you get full stars before moving on?
The club I'm in is currently full, but visit the OT in the community section - I'm sure someone there will be able to hook you up.Also, if anyone has a somewhat casual club with an open spot, I'd love to join. My schedule is pretty full, but I'd love to contribute to a club when I play.
Thanks guys.
Yeah it doesn't matter. Just want to contribute to something, and maybe have a little extra fun when playing. Would gladly join. EDIT: psn is Acos
Yeah you don't even necessarily be an awesome driver to be a valuable part of the team. As long as you're playing the game, you're making a contribution. As someone who doesn't really enjoy playing games online (I play for fun, not e-peen points) I really appreciate that aspect of the club system.
First time seeing lightning hit something.
Picked DC up in the Christmas sale for £25, no regrets.
The weather effects are something else but even the lighting in general adds another dimension. I just finished a couple of the early tours in India where the sun is in your face and you can't see anything ahead. A very authentic moment that I haven't seen in any other racing game.

Thanks for saving this game bros. I loved the game at launch (mechanically and in terms of track design it was a racing instant classic) but there were some balance issues with challenges and of course online was borked so it was hard to defend for that first month (addendum: but ya'll still need to get on that PS+ Edition. A promise made should be kept. It is a little crazy how unprepared ya'll seemed for the server load, especially considering - and I don't mean to be crude here - the game didn't light the charts on fire). But I think you guys deserve credit for how much you've turned it around with the free DLCs and weather upgrade and balances fixes and others small and large.
Can't wait to see what further tweaks you guys commit to the A.I. and of course the inclusion of Japan. Driveclub is easily one of the best racing games of the past decade, and it's also one of the few racers of its type in this day and age so it's especially appreciated.
Take a bow for you and your team Rushy
They surely did an amazing job saving the game (single player wise it was already really really good on day 1... the reviews who claimed it was soulless and not unique and detracted points for not going open world like everyone else were unjustified an poor ways to review the game IMHO), supporting it, extending it, and bravely pushing ahead while facing a lot of issues and what's maybe worse tons of people throwing flack at areas of the game that were not a problem at all: the driving part was awesome, tracks superbly detailed and designed, awesome sense of speed and very low layency input, and an engine designed to handle very complex workloads and processing spikes. You do not get to add dynamic weather in such fashion without dropping frames unless you were marching towards it well in advance. Also the amount of small details everywhere, the overall polish, thinking about all these aspects which affect the racing experience visually and not (thank you for going with dynamic lighting, lighting affected by the clouds in the sky, rain looking so good, sounding great, and affecting the car handling).
I do hope track racers keep going successfully as a genre, but if we're not to do that you have provided the genre's swan song.
Holy shit that's ridiculous just bought this 2 days ago so pretty it isFirst time seeing lightning hit something.
Again, awesomely put .Hard to disagree with any of this. I was stunned at the lack of understanding of the complexity and astonishing execution of the racing mechanics in reviews and amongst other so-called fans of racing games. They are appropriately "simcade", but they provide a unique counter point to others in the subcategory of racers like PGR. Each vehicle is supremely well chosen to provide appropriate strategic heft in the races, and the way they grip the track, drift, draft and gear shift is all just expertly executed. This is the song of a racing developer at the top of their game, undoubtedly.
And the sound design. Everyone talks about the visuals, because of course goddamn. It's a cherry on top of the already phenomenal racing package (which has frankly 50 hours or more worth of pure racing bliss minimum), but the sound design is so mind blowing it's like the cherry on top of the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae. This is some next level shit they're on. Coupled with the sound effects for the weather itself, and it's about as immersive as it's going to get prior to VR implementation. I am constantly with my jaw on the floor.
No, don't say that! I love this subcategory of racers and there's almost none like it anymore!

I saw this few times, but the bad thing is there is no sound of thunder which is really meh. It just hits, and there is no wall of fucking sound hitting the player. :-/
...

Yes...
This is like every racing game ever I don't know how people are missing this.

got this for $34 used. is that a good deal?
Alright I'm going to have to ask for some GAF insight.
I've been playing the game for a week now and loving the single player. But whenever I race multiplayer, I only have the ghosts of other players on the race track. There are just never any physical cars that i can bump into in any of the races.
The second issue is that the servers wont let me race with anyone in my club. Ever. One of us always gets kicked out when the clock goes to zero.
Help me Driveclub GAF compatriots, you're my only hope.
Some of the fly overs at the beginning of the race are lovely.
So is this game more Gran Turismo like instead of Forza Horizon?
The other way around but more towards PGR. Now graphically, its way better looking than GT.
Is it just a SIM? Sorry; I am just curious. I like open world racers but haven't heard much about this game.
It's like GT as in you pick the event from a menu and then go race - it's not open world. It's about learning the nuances of car and track and racing.
They are customisable I changed my brake from L2 to X 😊Hell yes, I would have bought it even if it was $100, it is that good!
Now Rushy, how about that fully customizable controls patch?
