People who want Sigourney Weaver go, you guys suck. She is the only one who is preventing the main line Alien franchise from going the way of the Terminator or Prometheus. She will hold out for a better script and wait for a talented film maker in the caliber of Ripley Scott or James Cameron in their peaks and start in an Alien film one more time as the white haired Ripley believe!
Guy, she made Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection.

Both were made with credible first-tier directors. It was just that not all things fall into the right places. All the more reason for her to hold out for the right director and right time. Blomkamp is clearly not up to the task. Blomkamp is basically Sega-tier.

Guy you complain about Prometheus, a film that is better than both Alien 3 and Resurrection and has a director (that you like!) at least better than the director of Alien Resurrection. In short, you're weird.

Agree that Blomkamp is poop though. But you're still weird.

But you're arguing that she's going to make sure things will fall into the right places while admitting the two films in which she had a modicum of creative control didn't go to those places.

She had more say over Alien Resurrection than she did any other Alien movie she'd appeared in.

Also - people are like "Glad this got canned" but do we still even know if this was placed in front of a studio and rejected, or that Blomkamp himself decided to cease pursuing this particular line on his own?

It's such a weird thing, seeing these works. It's kinda like when Joe Carnahan's Daredevil "Sizzle Reel" was released.

Well my simple explanation is that She made the mistakes with 3 and 4 and she is not going to make the same mistake again. :)

Plus, she still has a reputation to protect in the movie business. Ridley Scott kind of threw it away and let it rip in the last few years.

p.s. I like 4 and I like it much better than Prometheus.

I like the idea of retconning Alien 3 and onward. That seems to be a trend some franchises are doing(not all are doing well, though), but instead of doing a full reboot, they revisit the classic canon/continuity and attempt to retcon crap sequels by branching the continuity into a NEW direction. I'm for that if it ends well(plus, love classic continuities) and is done with respect and dedication(not like the Texas Chainsaw movies... urgh).

That said, love living(scarred) Hicks! And being a collector back in the day, seeing Ripley in that Alien/Space Jockey suit, I totally got reminded of this:

The problem with the alien movies was that they became about Ripley and not about the aliens. It was cool in the first one when she was just some space trader running for her life but she started to become some kind of super hero in the second one. I love aliens but the moment she said "get away from her you bitch" and started fighting the queen in a giant mech suit was the moment the aliens stopped being scary

What the fuck is this shit.

Seriously, what the fuck is shit supposed to be?

Weyland Yutani's battle armour influenced by the Xeno?

Well one of the drawings is of the Space Jockey ship in a human hanger and I'd guess it's being taken apart and studied.
Wouldn't be surprised if Weyland Yutani backward engineered the some of the organic tech they used.

I think this seems like an awesome concept and I really hope this is still something that'll happen. Maybe Blomkamp just got the boot from the project, but the fact that he'd just go ahead and leak pics makes it seem like the whole project might have gotten scrapped. :(

Blomkamp deserves shit, but I would have been okay with seeing Michael Biehn on the big screen again.

Why not? It's not like Weyland-Yutani wanted the xenos because they made interesting pets or whatever. They wanted their biotech.

It's still up in the air as to whether it was even a project, or just a pitch Blomkamp put together on his own.

I don't mind the idea of some advanced bio suit that they reversed engineered, but that the helmet imitates the Alien skull form is just way too tacky to me.

It's probably a suit so she can fly that spaceships.

Also, anyone else think Sigourney's face was just used as a replacement for Rapace? Seems to me it's Prometheus 2.

Aliens don't seem stupid enough that a suit & hormones would fool them into thinking the human inside a suit is one of them....... But that could be what the idea behind it is. I figure if WY back engineered it, you wouldn't have to literally be in a close physical 'shape' to the thing to operate it... ?

What if Prometheus 2 is also Alien 3 Retcon where Noomi Rapace and David go into deep space hibernation and run into Old Ripley and Old Hicks trying to survive in some nightmarish Weyland Yutani complex that's orbiting the dead Engineer world, Paradise

While the alien helmet on Ripley is a weird concept design, Blomkamp deserves all the credit in the world for retconning Alien 3 and Resurrection with this pitch, AND for getting Hicks / Michael Biehn back into the series. As a diehard fanboy of Aliens, this shit is my jam.

Honestly?

I would love this.

They dont need hormons, when I recall Resurrection correctly.

Wasnt Ripley 9 a human/Xenomorph hybrid and unattacked by Xenos?

I don't see what's the problem with the helmet, it's just a space jockey helmet or something created from one,

? People say it's a space jockey helmet, but it's clearly a xenomorph head. Unless I'm missing something? Only the mask part is like the Space Jockey helmet.

The concept of Ripley in xenomorph armor that looks like a xenomorph sounds like fan fiction to me. Even if Ridley Scott himself came up with that, I'd still think that.

Elysium was indeed poorly written. Which is funny because it shares many similarities to D9, which is pretty damned awesome. The very ending to Elysium is terrible. Ended with Matt Damon closing his eyes dead, showing how the world is saved was a bad idea.

Also, it would've been twice as good if they cast an actual Mexican, rather than the most white actor allowing it to be the immigration parable it tries to be, in this case, it could;ve been emotional enough to be powerful and potentially very good.

But, Neil is a very promising director, with the ability to create some of the coolest action sequences. The weapons in Elysium are just flat out awesome.

Elysium is about Apartheid, like all of Blomkamp's work, not Mexican (or other) immigration

Well it says Space Jockey right there :p I'm sure they would come up with some reason for it to look like a xenomorph head.

Looks like a fan project.

But then so did Resurrection.

Anyway, I'd rather have Prometheus 2 from somebody else than this from Blomkamp.

The reason for this would be the cloning of trying to bring back the aliens. You see the same thing in one of the other Alien movies.

Or maybe the company had their way with the alien DNA and XenoTech based on their biology is common in the future

Doubt I'd have liked this apart from potential of Ripley/Hicks.

Looks like they get Derelict to WY finally and mayhem ensues in big corporate station. Just not interested in that angle.

Nice artwork though.

Ripley/Hicks after this long would be such a mistake.

Besides, it'll be like the Terminator sequels. What made the characters work was like 10% Weaver/Ripley and 90% Cameron. After Elysium, I'd shudder to think of these characters being written by Blomkamp.

Very impressive art. Given the recent success of Alien: Isolation, I wonder if those developers might make another game for the franchise an possibly incorporate some of these ideas.

So . . . Weaver didn't do shit in Alien?
