Glad we will get our moneys worth. I think the average clear time will be around that of Xenoblade (100~ hours).

Bit overwhelming tbh. Not sure I'll make it past 40...

Did you play Xenoblade 1? You wouldn't even complete that in 40 hours unless you were seriously rushing.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN :'(

I hope it's still kinda story focused.

In Xenoblade 1, each area is huge, but the progression from area to area is more or less a straight line. I'm guessing with the mechs you'll be able to go to many more areas at once, in different directions.

These map size numbers do nothing for me. The characters run at a speed that would make Usain Bolt blush, and the mechs are much faster obviously. 400 km^2 in that world means doesn't mean much.

It speaks to the overall scope of the game, which is great, but just taking numbers as some sort of multiplier to how fun a game might be never made sense to me.

I took a look at the actual text from sinobi about the interview, and the description Takahashi gives the online is definitely indicating something like the passive online features of Souls game. He refers to it as ゆるく繋がるオンラインゲーム which is the common term used these days to refer to stuff like the blood stains, messages, and player shadows.

I keep saying to myself to not see any media relating to the game, but I'm not very successful at it..

I really hope the open design will work well. Xenoblade was indeed very linear, but it worked very well as such. Open design has very different kind of challenges.

Seems like an overkill to get different famous voice actors to record shouts. But I guess we'll see.
Agreed.

Soooo... that multiplayer chat they were showing when they unveiled the game was just fake and misleading? No 4-player-coop hunts or something similar?
It could have. For example someone said about "crossing" over to other people's games, but perhaps it could be about crossing over to other dimensions in which there are monsters to hunt or something like that (and you'd be able to coop there).

We'll see.

My final Xenoblade playtime was about 70 hours, so 300 hours sounds legit if it is indeed 5 times the size of Xenoblade

I don't mind other devs in the industry copying or becoming inspired from those features. It's a great concept. (as long as it's done right.)

Thank god.

I will still play offline, but thank god it's just minor features like these.

This made my hype rise more than the OP =P

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Adding that to the OP.

I wonder if that means there's no actual multiplayer, though?

300 hours?? 250 of that better not be a side quest collectathon like the first game. I really hope they made the side quests matter.

It sounds like they're still not ready to reveal details, so it's hard to say. But if I had to make a guess, I would say that what Takahashi is referring to here might be tied to Miiverse functions too. That would make sense given the WiiU capabilities. Seems like something Nintendo would push for too.

This all sounds like good stuff!

Seriously, I can't think of another game I'd spend 300 hours on nowadays, the first Xenoblade is the only recent RPG that got 150+ hours from me (by multiple playthough).

I'm ready for this, so ready.

They never said it had co-op. It's just that the character names in the party where player 1-4. Probably because the characters hadn't been finalized at that point.

While I don't believe that quantity equals quality, the original Xenoblade was an embarrassment of riches for both, and this one seems to be better in every single regard.

My post from the Twitter thread.

Really happy about the 4-player party if true. Though why hasn't that be shown in any trailer considering there have been 3 characters revealed for the party already? Maybe the fourth slot is for guest party members?

There was one poster who was only interested in the game if it had 4-person parties. He/she should be pretty happy.

What I like about 4 player-parties is simply being able to use more characters as once. Hope they keep the total party members aside from the protagonist at max 6.

Just realised that this game is likely to come out in England at a really difficult time for me in terms of free time. I am starting an intense 1yr course in September, so a 300hr playtime sounds really scary!

-Not a standard online game, more 'loosely connected'

Yes! I'm very anti-social when gaming, so I don't really like playing with others online. However, I like being able to see other players roaming the world and stuff like that when I solo WoW, so this is probably good news for me.

You guys worry too much about 300 hours lol. Of course it might have been played several times. If it's like Xenoblade in terms of quests and NPCs affinities branching out, he might have played it more than once to check every possible scenario and choices.

20x20km map.. nice. Huge game, but you'd traverse that size map pretty fast in a doll I'd assume..

I'm just playing through Xenoblade now and I absolutely love it. My Wife is mesmerized by it too.

300 hours for checking the full game does not equal to 300 hours for playing to 100%. But still I guess it will take a huge amount of time for that too.
