Gaffers are praising nintendo for free updates now. Lol welcome to 2005

Pretty sure people are talking at that one person for confusing this as something paid, no one's praising the update for being "free". And the praise is coming from what the update is.

You didn't really think this through huh?

Did you perhaps consider they were praising the content of the update? Or did that thought not cross your mind as you raced towards the reply box to post your witty "welcome to the 21st century Nintendo!" comment?

I'm happy that that there is more content for me to play with my friends. I don't think anyone is relating this update to Nintendo's business practices but instead to their increased utility.

It seems that 1.0.2 update slightly changed post-battle amiibo configuration too!

In 1.0.1, when you finished your work with amiibo and wrote the data in it, you were being brought to "Games & More" menu, with the cursor on "amiibo" button, so you had to press a button to re-scan your amiibo for presents. In 1.0.2, you are being brought directly to scanning prompt, which is a quite more comfortable if you want to collect presents right after battle.

It's an update that unlocked stages that were already in the game for one of their game modes. It's not that exciting.

And somehow you missed the posts of people speculating on how they can use it to enable certain functions. And how people were wondering how the changes work considering there are reasons these stages were not available in 8p to begin with.

Again, did you not think this through?

It is if you play eight player smash regularly, specially considering some of the stages available for that mode are too big for small TV screens.

And this
It shakes up classic mode quite a bit, adding a few more levels to rotation, so it shouldn't be such a bore of repeated levels all the time.

This is great to hear, considering I'd do battle with 7 other amiibos & it was a HUGE pain to scan them, then rescan them to get the presents, then scan again.

Also great to hear about more 8-player stages. I really enjoy the mode, but started to notice just how scarce the number of stages were. Thankfully, this sounds like it'll fix it, even if certain stage elements are removed, though I guess it was done so to keep the game running smoothly.

Cool. A few changes here and there. I appreciate it but praising Nintendo for something like this is uhhh, yeah. Silly

Would you have been happier with "8 Player Map Pack: 4.99" ? It's a free update for a newish game that adds more content, even if the assets are re-used. The stages are slightly modified for 8 player smash, so there was some work involved besides just enabling a check box.

Other companies have charged for far less content than that.

Reading through the thread and nobody is really praising Nintendo, just people being excited about the new changes.

I hope there is some serious bugfixing in this update too. 3 of 5 times I try to use stage creator, it shows in the TV screen what should be at the gamepad screen and vice versa, and many other bugs who are making the game quite unenjoyable for me :/
And I recorded that one in video. It happens at random. This time, when I tried to name the stage.

Playing HD games on that TV offends me.

You make it sound like people here are saying "all hail Nintendo, our lord and savior". People are just happy with the update, no one is making a golden ox to send towards Sakurai for the update.

Again, did you even read the posts? Only one guy made a mistake and everyone pointed that out.

Wouldn't surprise me though considering how Gaming Side has gone into shitter.

It's today's AAA gaming climate. Nintendo didn't even have to do this.

Free updates SHOULD be praised in the age of DLC, season passes, and free-to-play.

Not just them, either. I praised Renegade Kid when they added 20 free levels plus the deluxe content to Mutant Mudds for free. These sorts of updates are nice and reinvigorate the games involved.

Plus I'm not even showering praise on Nintendo, I'm just happy that a great game gets to see more content.

Well, you still need to scan them twice, but at least you don't have to press A so many times.

Amazing. If these are deemed tournament legal, like pyrosphere, then you just do 5 players, SD 3 of them, then start the match. Pain in the butt, but at least it's possible.

Can't you just go into 8 player smash mode with any number of players?

EDIT: apparently not. Next patch, please, or just another toggle on the stage select

They're clearly still working on the game. While i'm not EXPECTING a hazard toggle, it's not impossible for them to implement it.

I always figured LC should have been 8 player from the start, but I guess the background transitions are too much.

Am I forgetting something? If you remove Ridley from pyrosphere what seperates it from its Omega form? Are there some platforms I'm not remembering?

Sorry for being piss poor and preferring spending the little money I can spend on vidya on new consoles I can play with than on a new TV to see my older games sightly better ( or worse, since I'm mainly a retro gamer) while my old TV still works.

Yes.

Don't see it mentioned anywhere else, but it appears that they've also added 1v1s in Spectate mode (so you can bet on them now) in addition to the 2v2s and FFAs. I've been using Spectate mode to rack up gold lately so it's a welcome addition.

I haven't read the full thread, but the "various fixes" aren't going to make it so I can't watch my replays anymore like the previous one, right?

Pack it up guys, close down the thread. Jigolo says we shouldn't be excited.

Oh wait, no one cares that you're not excited. Just go be not excited somewhere else so you can stop shitting up the thread.

Again detailed patch notes would be lovely. I don't imagine they've fixed the problem of adding customs to characters (you have to do it via the custom menu, you can't do it from most character select screens like on the 3DS version) and the game forgetting who you are all the time (the amount of problems caused by tap jumping [saoiler]more like crap jumping amirite[/spoiler] coming back on because of this...).

Given how much of a selling point 8-player smash is it is nice there are more playable stages though like many here are saying it begs the question of why not a hazards off option for normal play.

I bet you've never played Hyrule Warriors then. So much confusion in the OT whenever new DLC launches.
It didn't help that I had my Wii U on standby for a few hours, nothing happened so bootup up the system to menu then started the game, nothing happened, tried to go online in-game, got kicked out, then quit the game and only then did the patch download. If this was a 3DS I'd just go to the eShop type the word update into the search box and be on my way.

Some of those stages just became tournament legal.

HOLY FUCK
I'm getting visions of the SSB 3DS tournaments I saw in Japan where a spectator player 3 (with capture card) would be Jigglypuff and shield themselves to death (I think they stopped doing this after finding it affected Lucario's Aura for no reason).

Title should really mention that they're old stages with the new ability to play 8 player mode on them. :p I just assumed that was the case because I am a pessimist but I allowed myself to be a little bit hopeful for a bunch of new stages just randomly getting added.

I hope this is reflected in Classic mode, because that mode is really boring thanks to the lack of stages.

Why are only some Omega stages useable in 8 player smash anyway?
This, it's disgusting how Classic mode (the main of the serie) went in a downward spiral, it's surprisingly bad in Smash 4, lack of stages, lack of classic break the target, lack of interesting one-on-one battles, no metal mini bosess *sigh*. All Star mode went right because they didn't touch it.

So now on, single player modes will be only side modes, with multiplayer stuff being the focus...

I really don't see the appeal of 8 Smash, it's a mess where you can't even play decently, it's totally unbalanced for projectile based attacks, and projectile based characters don't stand a chance.

Excited to see Smash 4 get updated, but there's probably a 10% chance that it'll ever effect me.

Still cool tho, good on Nintendo for releasing more content when they really didn't need to.

Using LAN or WiFi? I'm on LAN and usually have no issues.

Admittedly WiFi, but I really don't want to fork out the cash for one of those Lan adapters to maybe get a better connection in Smash.

It's crazy, we have 152mb/s internet (around 18ms ping) and yeah, it's unplayable on that connection.... The Wii U isn't far from the router either.
Ah well.
