The hazards will still be there no matter what mode if you have 4 or less payers. The mode defaults to regular Smash in that case.

Oh that's too bad for those who don't want bosses. But with at least 5 players, 4-player FFA or less without bosses can be done with the last player doing SDs. It will take some additional effort though.

Choosing 8 player smash but having less than 5 players reverts the stage selection back to regular smash mode.

Boot up the game and it should prompt you to download it before it goes into the game.

My main is Ike and Marth / Lucina which struggle against anything that is high-mid tier (playing Ike against Sonic is a nightmare), you should be happy with what you got

If phrosphere is without Ridley, you could start with 8 players then have 6 commit suicide to have a 1v1! Which is ridiculous... But without a boss toggle, it's what things have come to
