These two threads look too alike dammit - twice I've gone to the wrong thread now.

Same. Ryse looks nice but plays horribly. Ditto for inFamous SS and Killzone. If The Order can deliver graphics and gameplay, I'll be incredibly happy. They still haven't shown me enough gameplay to interest me enough to pre-order though. Reviews and gamer impressions will factor a lot in my decision to buy or wait.

Wait, are you saying the gameplay in inFAMOUS was terrible? Second Son/First Light were as fun & addicting as every other inFAMOUS game, the problem was the poor mission design, lack of variety in your powers, repetitive side activities, & the karma system went backwards to how inconsequential it was in the first game, it was especially disappointing after the massive improvements inFAMOUS 2 had.

The gameplay of inFAMOUS games is still one of the best in the market, I really hope you just misworded that, because even the harshest critics of Second Son admit that gameplay was the least of the game's problems, & actually one of its biggest strengths.

EDIT:

Yes, I think the gameplay is horrible. And I loved the first two games. SS is a string of 5 quests repeated over and over and over with a smattering of uninteresting story missions strewn about.

That's poor mission design, not poor gameplay, which I 100% agree with. The gameplay is still phenomenal, one of the best action games on the current gen systems.

Yeah core mechanics in Infamous are very good. Much more enjoyable than any of the AC games to me.

The actual mechanics are fine. Great even. But much like Destiny, the core mechanics are letdown by pretty much everything else.

Ive been looking through this thread (to afraid to go into the other one) but I can't find the answer to my question. How are people playing this game already?

Is it reviewers that is talking about the game or has a store broken the street date?

I just went from "I think I'll buy a PS4" to "nah" after seeing those waist-high sandbags randomly placed through the streets. Do developers even try to explain this sort of shit?

Well yes, there's a rebellion happening, and the authorities and the Order have been fighting them for some time when the game starts.

This is my favorite comment ever on gaf. I want it framed. Thank you.

Also, how do you give a character cover on a bridge that has to be an exact unit height?

I agree, it would be much better if there was just no shooting going on in that section and you could just not have the need for cover. Or maybe they could have implemented a bullet dodge mechanic.

Is there a way to nominate worst post of the year somewhere? I think this would probably win my vote.

I'd be in the dick

You went from considering dropping $460 to play this game to complete disinterest after seeing a shooter has cover in a battle sequence?

The last few posts, coupled with Bish's post, for whatever reason have me bursting out with laughter over and over. I don't know, these threads just bring the funny.

PS4: home of waist-high cover.

It's an unfortunate reality of most TPS games.

Should I buy a 21:9 monitor if $400 magically appears out of thin air?

Do what you want with your money but having some impressions with a person with a 21:9 monitor wouldn't be too bad ;)

Even though this may be true, and other third person shooters with this same type of cover have gotten 9/10 scores. I feel this will be the first game where the media will deem this no longer acceptable because of the fact it is The Order.

Am I missing anything in this thread? How comes people are whining about placement and position of sandbags in a third person shooter game?

You're in an Order thread. People have literally complained about their being too much last minute marketing for a video game.

Scratching my head over why people are so determined to try and hate this game.

First it was no gameplay
Then it was a Quantic Dream style QTE game
Then it was corridor shooting
Then it was boring shooting mechanics
Then it was not replayable
Now it's poor sandbag placement

Good ideas! Maybe instead of shooting we could stick in an Oblivion-style speechcraft minigame, and you could just talk your way past all of the opposition.

Let's be honest, here, any solution we could come up with would be better than the designers "waist-high cover" mechanic. Amateurs.

Thank you for spoiling how many chapters the game has. That's one of my biggest pet peeves for spoilers. I hate knowing how many chapters there are, I like to not know when I'm getting near the end of a game.

Some people have no common sense when it comes to spoilers.

I was hoping that I would be able to do a Hulk Smash into the group, destroy the bridge and blow up the nukes hiding below, culminating in a face off with the robot president to save the world.

0/10 RAD, get some creativity.

Thats like saying how long the game is a spoiler.
