Picked up a PSTV after trading in my Wii U.

It's...certainly a thing, I suppose. I'm not suddenly compelled to play games after having them on a larger screen like I thought I'd be.

I didn't replay many games (preferred Muramasa on it though), but I found I preferred it for a first play of many things or to finish up games I had abandoned.

Same thing happened to me. I use it whenever I intend on playing a (compatible) Vita game at home for more than an hour, but I don't see it as anything more than a novelty.

Having to swap memory cards to share games between it and the Vita is also a deterrent.

It's pretty funny, the Wii U is actually the reason I decided against getting a PSTV. Found that on my Wii U I was basically playing almost every game on the gamepad screen and preferred it that way. Made me realize it would likely be the same with a PSTV, where I would almost always rather use my Vita than have the games on my TV.

I really just like handhelds in general for many reasons. And I don't know why, but I have been finding that it hurts my eyes much more to use my TV than my handhelds. And it's a 50" TV that is about 8-10 feet away, so that should be pretty optimal.

It's not so much being compelled to play them that way as sometimes I just don't want to stare at a 5" screen or sometimes I'm playing, my battery dies, and the fucker's taking too long to charge. It's the machine for filling in the blanks when I wouldn't otherwise be playing Vita - not an "instead of" machine for me.

I just saw a video for Harukanaru 6 for its battle system and battles are now like Terra Battle. It looks pretty cheap, shame on KT/Ruby Party.

Maybe consider it if you can't play DJMAX Portable and you're itchin' to play a DJMAX-like with a mix of electronic and vocaloid music. It's not the best value and as Remembrance stated post-launch have been kind of sluggish - however for a music-rhythm game from a Chinese independent developer there is some fun to be had.

I actually have DJMAX Portable (and Technika Tune) and I suck at it.

Chaos Blade, that Muramasa copy, Musync, Cytus Lambda.

Either Cytus Lambda is not there anymore or it's not available in Canada.

For me it's all about the screen and controls. If you don't mind the Vita for prolonged use you probably don't need it, but despite it being my favorite portable ever, when Im' at home I'd probably just rather use a controller and either my big TV or one of my monitors at my desk. For me it's well worth the under $100 to enable that option.

I use mine for every game that supports it, pretty much. I rarely bring my handhelds with me when I go out, so I'd rather play it on a bigger screen with the DS4.

Play-Asia has a listing for the Vita version of Residen Evil Revelations 2. I wonder if SCEA will give it a retail print, considering what they did to Oreshika this month.

How is the frame rate of Vice City Stories on Vita? I'm reading mixed opinions. Some say it's fine, others say it's worse than on PSP (UMD), something with the PSN version performing worse.

Purchased £35 psn top up off amazon, entered it into ps store and even though the store said it was accepted my account balance has not been updated -_-

Can't contact customer support because it is too late -_-

I just wanted to play some fucking Hotline Miami. Fuck sake

Was also planning on buying Last of Us at the discounted price. Now that is also out of the window as the deal will soon be over. *Sigh* Sony never cease to disappoint me, will just try to buy it second hand instead

Guys

Is Frozen Synapse Prime Vita worth it?

Yes! This game is awesome to the max!! It is a great tactical strategy game that you can play with people online by taking turns and you can do that whenever you log back in. The game is very strategical and uses the vita (assuming you mean on the vita) touch controls perfectly. I feel very great satisfaction doing everything so smoothly with the touch screen. However! You do NOT have to use the touch and the buttons are just as good if you hate getting smudges on your screen. I bought this on a whim when it was $20 based on recommendations by members here on GAF and it did not disappoint. I give my whole-hearted recommendation if you enjoy strategy games.

That PS+ game Counterspy is pretty fun. It seems a bit shallow, but it has a fun loop of just-one-more-level.

Once you're deeper into a game, it gets pretty complicated imo. With 7 or more powerful enemies on a level, you really need to consider your options, when to engage, when to sneak, when to just try to get to the next room and take a hit to your defcon level.

Really, really fun imo.

i have a pstv but generally just plug my vita in while playing it if i am running low on charge. i really, really enjoy playing on my vita. moreso than my tv for many games. i never thought i'd say that about any handheld.

yes. Frozen Synapse is a fantastic game and several here have applauded the vita version many times. Disclaimer: I have only played it on pc, but plan on double dipping eventually. It's a great game.

Autoduelist, have you tried La-Mulana EX? Talking about the game, how many people here have tried the game? I'm halfway through and loving every minute of it, I know antibolo got it too.

I'm still hurt that Frozen Synapse Prime was a PS3 PS+ freebie, but the Vita version wasn't. I wish that it wasn't that expensive, either.

No... it looks like it plays like spelunky and sadly i'm not really into that style of platformer. I bit the bullet on spelunky at full price due to the hype and wish i hadn't. I don't mind permadeath and all that stuff, but i just never felt at home jumping around and hitting stuff castlevania style.

If it helps, I hate Spelunky (bought it at full price due to hype as well), but I'm loving La-Mulana EX. It's similar in a few aspects, but the rest is quite different. It doesn't have permadeath (as in, you can reload from the last save) but it's similar to Castlevania in a few aspects. Combat takes a backseat to the exploration aspect.

Being that I like to set the bottom (where the charging port is) of the Vita on my chest, knee, the arm rest of my chair, etc - that doesn't go ever too well with the charger in unless I want to bend the wire and fuck up 1000's of them.

Does the demo have multiplayer?

I made that question on the topic, but no one answered it.

We still don't know.
When I played the JP demo I tried only the Special Missions mode. I couldn't leave the mission building and don't remember being a multiplayer stone there.

But on the JP store, the demo lists "players: 1~4", which could either be a "yes" or a typo. Maybe it's only avaiable on Introductory Mode (the mode that carries over, with chapters 1 and 2).

I've been playing La-Mulana EX nonstop the past couple of days (sorry Flightmare, P4G is on hold for the time being), and it might just be the best game I've played this year. Already beat three bosses and unlocked
the bronze mirror
without using a walkthrough, but now I'm not quite sure where to go next. Will probably give it another hour of guesswork before I use a walkthrough.

I like it a lot. I'm not afraid to admit that I've had to look at a guide more than a couple times so far, though. I think I'm nearing the end since I have almost all the item slots filled up.

Did we know this bit of info? I got this from the IGN article on the new upcoming PS4 update: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2015/03/...imura-features-suspendresume-60fps-share-play
Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps: For games that support 60 fps, the ability to customize the frame rate of Remote Play and Share Play will be added with “Yukimura.” Play to your bandwidth strengths and use this option to stream gameplay at 60 or 30 fps when using Remote Play or Share Play on supported devices.
The Remote Play bit is HUGE and I didn't even know about it. The fact that you can toggle it too for those who have slower connections is quite brilliant.

There's a demo releasing in 2 weeks you can try.

Hmmm. I'll wait till then and try it out for myself.

I got a copy of Toukiden vanilla thrown in with my vita back when I bought it but I dismissed the game offhand without playing much. Watched some footage of Kiwami today and it piqued my interest.

Anyone else take dozens/hundreds of screenshots in games (that they like)? My screenshot folder for this game is almost as big as the game, not counting video...

Yeah, Spelunky and La Mulana are two very different styles of games despite their very similar presentation.

Linear roguelike vs Metroidvania non-proc-gen is a pretty big diff yeah
