PT no longer downloadable in US (and EU/UK) even with license

Holy fuck no. This is disastrous. This is the biggest fear of those who are afraid of going fully digital. God, such a masterpiece like PT...thrown away. Disgusting.

This has nothing with the "digital future". Plus its a demo, that was free. Its not like you bought it, Konami removed it from PSN and removed it from being downloadable. If this was paid, there would be a bigger backlash. (although what Konami is doing in general is pissing everyone off)
Are you kidding? Of course it does. This is awful. Something that is universally acclaimed as one of the best horror games EVER is being erased. And you're just trying to dismiss this? No. This is bad.

Wow that is pathetic from konami. I downloaded it and installed it last week and by that i will never delete it from my hdd.

Awful Konami. I'm going to back up my PS4 hard drive to a few different hard drives, that way I'll never lose it.

That's not going to help if Sony decide to deauthorise it across the board...unless you just keep your console offline from here on in

Stop being a fucking baby

After the last events with Metal Gear and the cancellation of Silent Hills (cancel a project with Del Toro and Kojima, with one of the most brilliant digital marketing campaigns ever? Reallly? REALLY? WTF!)
Of course they need to die, someone is crazy inside of that building, lol.

The worst part of this is that the game was not released on pc so this teaser is impossible to play if you do not know somebody who still has installed the game. =(

Hey, this is shitty and I understand people have a soft spot for P.T. but this is false.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
This gif has a whole different impact now.

Any of my UK bros wanna let me log in to their accounts just to download the PT demo?

Will it work if I just download it, then delete the user off my PS4, any idea how this works?

Annoyed with Konami, annoyed with Sony for permitting it.

I'll definitely buy Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes on disc, because who knows what they'll do to those once the sales bottom out.

Yes, they can. No, it's not. You pay for a license to use the product and they can take that license away whenever they choose. This isn't only digital products either, your physical discs are a license too which can be revoked, but I doubt a publisher is going to show up at your house and take it from you.

Eh, maybe in countries with no consumer protection/rights, but I'm pretty damn sure that shit wouldn't fly somewhere like here in Sweden (maybe the entire EU). Unless I'm misremembering something I think even the "you don't own a digital purchase, it's just a service that can be taken away from you at any moment" thing was decided to be absolute bull in some case here a while back.

Does anyone here remember P.T.?

And 90% of the people answer with "P-what?" Sad.

As a horror movie fan, this teaser was the best horror experience I've EVER had. The older horror games don't do it for me either coz the graphics aren't realistic enough. This one though, it was a true next gen experience. Just wow!

Unless a man who doesn't dump raises money to buy all the PS4s with P.T. on it, it will eventually happen.

Anyway I guess my dream of playing this is over. Not that I mind anymore, considering that the full product will never be made.

Scares me though, if something like this starts happening to other digital items.

Literally just fuck Konami. I mean, I don't like the cancellation of Silent Hills but I can understand it. Shit happens. But there's no fucking reason to remove P.T. People like it for what it is. It should stay up for goodwill alone.

They did it, they actually did it...

Talk about a zero-sum strategy, what do they gain from doing this?

My PS4 just became a whole lot more valuable

They gain by excising Kojima's legacy from their books. This is a deliberate bridge-burning event. They know it. They don't fucking care. They've gone off the deep end.

its a shame no new people will ever get a chance to play what is sadly the final version of SIlent Hills. thats your digital future btw, even tho you already own it you can't even download it... -_- thts why physical will always be where its at. Good thing I redownloaded PT incase this happened.

except that you now have an infinitely duplicate-able version of the game in digital format that can be preserved and replayed far easier than any physical media ever produced. the "but you can lose your games!" argument against digital is silly as hell.

Since there is now a backup feature in the newest PS4 firmware, wouldn't it be possible to backup an existing copy of P.T. to a USB drive and physically send the drive to someone to have them restore it to their PS4? As long as they have the license for P.T. the PS4 should let them play it.

P.T. is still available to download on a Japan PSN Account if you have the game in your library.

So if you got it in your library on your JP PSN, and haven't re-downloaded yet, now is your chance before Konami finishes deleting Kojima' Digital Identity!

I'd like to know this too, I have the damn game in my library just can't download =/

Konami should reintroduce it as a paid demo with the ending replaced by a white screen with black lettering: "FUCK YOU I'M OUT".

Glad i never deleted it. It was too special for me, so i decided to let it stay on my PS4. I now hope my PS4 never dies. Sucks for people who don't have a PS4 yet, though. :/

Well, for any of the poor folk who don't have it installed, hopefully you can set something up with someone who does have it.

Shareplay might have a new selling point lol.

Well this was bloody awful to wake up to! Thankfully I just checked and it's definitely still on my PS4, but gods damn it, Konami have just been utter cunts lately.

It's a lot to ask someone to be able to log-in to their account just to download it.
Although it didn't stop me :p
Unless there's someone out there that made an extra account just for demos and the like.

That person could be a hero around these parts ;o

I highly doubt that, not with the way it's being killed off. People might forget about PT if it had the life of any other game, but not now. What Konami is doing to PT is what drugs did to Jimi Hendrix.

I'm looking at the Backup and Restore feature now on my PS4. It looks like it's a whole-drive backup only. I'm not sure if it's possible to delete everything on the PS4 except P.T., perform the backup of only P.T., and restore it to another PS4 without logging your own account in first. I uhm don't want to re-download and re-install from disc the 400 GB of games I have on my PS4 just to test this, but someone else could certainly try it.

My guess is that the backup you perform is tied to whatever account the content is tied to. You might have to create the account on the PS4, restore the backup, and then delete the account after. If your real PS4 account has a P.T. license, it might theoretically still work after you delete the account associated with the backup.

On the one hand, I can understand it since the game it's supposedly advertising won't exist anymore.

On the other hand, it's a damn shame since P.T. felt unique and worked even without the announcement at the end.

The fact that you can't download it anymore despite having it on your HDD already and having the license is just sad though.
