PT no longer downloadable in US (and EU/UK) even with license

Horse Detective

Why the long case?
This is just phase one. After the consoles containing the game are removed from ebay, they will begin taking down lets plays from Youtube and Twitch. Eventually, there will no longer exist evidence that PT was ever a thing.

There is also a massive difference between a paid product and a free product, also as some other people have said it's likely due to the lapse in a contract to use the likeness of Norman Reedus.

No there isn't, not in this case. I went through a purchase flow and my account was entitled with a digital license to access PT. Just because that purchase cost 0 doesn't give them a greater right to restrict access compared to something I paid money for.

This is scarier than the game itself.

Maybe this was Konami's plan all along. To turn it into an urban legend.

What's next, Konami's gonna get Sony to give them a list of EVERYBODY who downloaded the demo and MAKE them delete them from their PS4s or, through some legal bullshit loophole, charge them with some sort of bullshit crime?

Yes it does. Sorry 'bout it.

If it's a licensing issue they could've just removed the ending video teaser with Norman Reedus. It's almost as if Konami are outright finding ways to piss gamers off.

This was the type of short and sweet game I'd have downloaded and played with friends every Halloween. Too bad they took it down. It was really fun.

But that's my point, even delisted games that the publisher no longer has legal rights to (expired license, etc.) are still redownloadable.
That isn't saying much. Most of these companies aren't going out of their ways to be assholes. Whereas Konami is.
That is the underlying problem here. Konami are assholes. Any of those other games that don't get taken down completely fall under categories that whoever is under the dispute agrees not to take deliberate action to fuck over their customers for whatever reason. Konami is unique here because they are going out of their ways to be complete assholes in the very likely event that they are the ones who demanded that Sony take the game down.
From Sony's perspective, they can either comply, or risk Konami suing them. As a digital distributor the chances that they'd win litigation in this case are probably slim.

I'm kind of surprised that no one has suggested that Sony get Kojima and Del Toro together again and instead of Silent Hills, have them work on Siren instead.

The guy who made the original Silent Hills (Keiichiro Toyama) left Konami for Sony and has been at Sony ever since. Toyama ended up creating and working on the Siren series as well as Gravity Rush.

If Sony is able to get Kojima and Del Toro and Norman Reedus together, they could also add Toyama to the mix and maybe we would have something more compelling than what PT provided/suggested.

Looks like the EU version is still up on Sony's servers:

There you go. If the PS4 ever gets homebrew then people will be able to throw this file on a USB device and plug it into their PS4s and play it. It's a free game so hopefully saying that isn't frowned upon, it's one of those rare instances in which it's actually a good thing.

I don't remember if people liked Siren: Blood Curse (New Translation) or not. I wonder if it's worth buying and playing now.

Is there actually a way to transfer this to a PS4 and have it decrypt and be playable if you have the license?

I just got this message on PSN.
This seems to be only for US. Have only got that message on my US account.

And probably a lawsuit from Konami.

Don't punish yourself like this. Buy it used if you really have to stick it Konami, but don't deprive yourself of a good upcoming game.

Either way, Konami's gonna be a pachinko health club factory, so might as well buy MGSV to support Kojima and his team's work.

Step 1: Cancel Silent Hills
Step 2: Delist P.T.
Step 3: Remove P.T. from PS Servers
Step 4: Force Ebay to remove PS4s with PT installed
Step 5: Force google to remove P.T. videos, playthroughs etc
Step 6: Force other streaming sites such as Twitch to do likewise
Step 7: De-authorise P.T. on PSN which disables everyone's copy of P.T.

This game will be a forgotten entity before long

I'm very sorry to say this but I hope #7 happens. If I can't enjoy P.T because I took too long to buy a PS4, I don't want anyone else to enjoy it.

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.
I'd play Sirens.

People forget that's where the creator of the original SH went.

I hope Kojima and Del Toro still end up making the game in some capacity under whatever studio works best for them. If I remember clearly, Kojima was saying that P.T. was a fun experiment but didn't necessarily reflect how the full Silent Hills game would be, that the full game most likely wouldn't just be a longer P.T.

Now that he would be completely free from having any ties to the Silent Hill franchise, I'd love for them to just make a completely original horror game that is just a full version P.T.

No, they send out their Pachinko-Yakuza squad.
