Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 coming in May | Trailer at E3, more at Gamescom

I hope when FFXV enters full promotion =/= We're gonna spoil and overexpose the shit out of the game...Including the final boss and Ignis' betrayal/death.

Unfortunately that's bound to happen. The only FF game that didn't contain super spoil-y footage was Final Fantasy XII and that's because the game's story was really straightforward. Even then, they casually included footage of the ending in trailers (though you couldn't tell it was ending footage).

XIII showed footage from every CGI cinematic aside from the insignificant airship ones in Chapter 9, every pivotal plot moment, every location aside from the final chapter's location, every summon, etc.

XIII-2 was misleadingly spoilerific. It showed footage of the final battle, but the marketing as a whole was more misleading than spoilerific.

Lightning Returns very casually showed footage of the final battle and ending, and pretty much every relevant part of the game was spoiled as well.

X, VII, and VIII all had late-game footage spoiled as well. X's commercials even showed
Tidus walking through Yuna
.

TL;DR: Yeah, I wouldn't recommend watching any more trailers after the next one. Or any commercials period.

The game is also more than a year away at this point.

It's going to become SE's priority game to market 6 weeks after E3, and E3 is next month. I wouldn't say it's more than a year away if that's the case. I'd actually say March/April 2016 is quite likely. Although this is obviously just conjecture.

I get a gut feeling they'll be showing more JRPGs than their past E3 conferences. Hopefully something like their E3 2006 conference at least. :/

What exactly? I doubt they'd promote Dragon Quest for such a western media event. Kingdom Hearts news is coming this year but even then I don't think they'll have much ready for the E3.

The only logical conclusion is that Square is announcing an actual FF7 remake and the port was a lie.
I can dream. :(

It'll be later than that.

It doesn't make sense to make a game a priority for marketing when it's more than a year away. They made XIII a priority for marketing at E3 and it was released 6 months later in Japan, 9 months later everywhere else. It wouldn't make sense for SE to make XV a priority in August for them to release it a year or over a year from that point. I dunno. Then again it's SE.

Not unheard of. They started marketing XIII-2 and LR a year out.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
All I want is Star Ocean 5 to be on E3 and hopefully released sooner (sooner than FFXV) at least. Can I expect that? :(

I'm pretty sure Star Ocean 5 will be released after Final Fantasy XV. Plus SE wouldn't want SO5 to compete against FFXV or anything like that. I'm expecting FFXV to be a Spring 2016 release and SO5 to be a Fall or Winter 2016 release.

Though obviously I could be completely wrong.

wasn't xv @60% recently?
so5 was 30%

The roughness of the demo should have clued people into the fact that there is still a lot to be done.

is it taking longer than their initial expecation then?

have to wonder how it'll affect FFXVI

That "roughness" didn't stop Lightning Returns from shipping in the state it did technically.

LR wasn't a mainline FF title. They had less than a year to make the whole game.

And LR is technically a lot better than Episode Duscae at the moment.

Yes, SO5 is at 30% and FFXV is at 60%. Based off of percentages alone one could easily assert that FFXV'll be released first but XV is quite obviously the far more expensive and ambitious game so completing XV's remaining 40% could actually take longer than SO5's 70%. I dunno.

LR had a small budget and not enough time in the oven. They pretty much shoved it out the door as quick as they could to have something while FF14 regained its footing.

That's true, but they've also begun addressing most of these complaints (and most shouldn't be that hard to fix, anyways), plus the demo was an older build, as was stated repeatedly in the last ATR.

Of course you know more than I do as I'm just some random gamer, but I really, really don't think FFXV will be released any later than June. I'm thinking March/April 2016.

when we're talking about release dates
we're talking about Japan right?
or r ppl expecting WW release?

I'm still sticking to my Fall 2016 guns. Been sticking to them for both FFXV and ME4 for ages.

will be crazy to see SE release mainline DQ and FF in the same year

BTW, am I allowed to post this much or is it considered spamming? A decent amount of this page has been just me.
it's not even @ Malitik level yet

I highly doubt FFXV is nearly a year and a half away. I'd say 13 months at most. And even then I doubt that. Again, I'm thinking March/April 2016, which is 10/11 months away, which seems pretty plausible.

I just want to say reading your posts on this page is a prime example of what SE has done to most of their diehard fanbase over the years. Yet we keep coming back for more.

Well the real test will be to see if the casual base will come back for more.

Cute little pup... <3
Btw, talking about "roughness".

I'm glad there will be Dascae 2.0, so I can file my feedback. We need to get a new top complaint going.

"Top complaint: "Fiancée is too rough."

This is embarrassingly violent and endorsing domestic violence. Square Enix, publicly apologize etc. Needs to be addressed..

About E3, I really wonder if they're gonna show Star Ocean or some other handheld JRPGs... Might as well go all in if they're going to have their own press conference. But they always seem to be afraid to showcase anything that's not FF/KH in America.

They might tease SO5 but I was thinking they would do a full reveal at TGS.

Wanting a female party member: Their concept was in following the four guys "in an environment where they can be themselves". "Normally it's just the four guys, so the tent's probably not in tip top shape, but if a female character were thrown into the mix, you can expect things to be a little different than usual. They'll probably clean, and say things they wouldn't normally say around her. I think it'll be fun to see the differences when the guys are being themselves, and when it's not just the four of them. Please look forward to seeing the difference when a guest character joins the party"

I'll say it again. It doesn't need to be treated this way. Change the gender of one of the boys and keep it the same. Treat that female character as if she's a human being and not a gender stereotype that must be treated differently.

That's a very good question because it can be argued that they never gained a generation of children with the lightning trilogy and their older fans have lost trust.

You gotta wonder just what world their PR lives in that Cindy is a normal mechanic and that female proximity no longer allows males to be themselves.

I'm actually just fine with the idea of four male party members but their justifications make them sound like they're twelve.

How can a company as large as Square possibly be this inept?

You're entire logic is backwards. Women are females. They would not treat a women the same way they'd treat a man. You say females are human beings, but you want to pretend gender doesn't matter at all. Your gender is part of being human. Apparently, you're also advocating for changing genders of characters for token representation instead of having an actual fleshed out human being of a character.

I doubt I'll respond if you do, but feel free to. I just hope they give Cindy some more appropriate (for her job) clothes.

I hope they go over some of the changes at E3. Maybe even surprise us with a new area or something.

In real life, if three dudes went on a long road trip with some chick, you really think they would treat her like another dude?

Every time I think about FFXV, I can't help but be concerned by world design. I'm so burned out with open world and the things that come along with it (fetch quests, collectathon, padding). At this point, I'm not even that excited for Witcher 3, let alone this game, although I want to.

Currently I'm itching for more of a linear experience, more handcrafted level and quest.
