Agreed, can't stand them myself.
Damn, considering going the PC route. May just run it through Wine.
The PC is best platform for KOF, and SF4 right now.
This port makes SF5 a bit scarier though- especially on PC.

anything you said specifically? i'm going to hit them up tomorrow.I spoke with Sony via their online chat and luckily they offered a refund. I was so excited to try this out. Bummer about the sloppy port job.
Street Fighter is an important brand. Its one of Capcoms legacy franchises. This deal was huge to Sony in terms bragging rights and EVO and everything else. A sizeable fee presumably changed hands.
WHO in their freakin' God damn minds decided to outsource this to a third party team with no proven experience on projects like this?? Its hurt Sony's image in terms of bringing projects like this across. I hope the monies saved by outsourcing were worth the brand damage and PR shitshow it's caused.

I know. I'm just not going to blame some average fan from thinking like that after this.
Hm what did they mess up with RE4? I remember liking it except for some problems with animations in 60fps. Specifically the rifle reload, which they can't really fix. At least you can always cap to 30. I haven't had a chance to see how the other two are.
to add: I liked how they handled AE and RE4. Bringing back specular highlights from the GC version was a nice bonus for the latter.
Have they said anything yet?
Why did I suspect that this port was going to be fucked when they announced that EVO would be running it?
But seriously, this really sucks for people who wanted to play USF4 on current gen.

Other Ocean had fighting game porting experience though.
They ported Mortal Kombat 1 2 and 3 to XBLA and PSN as part of the MK Arcade Kollection last gen. But shocking news. That was also a bad port full of bugs and inaccuracies that made the entire thing pointless and not up to snuff.
I don't understand #2
There were all sorts of problems with the mouse controls, scrolling in the inventory is slower than on any other version, the animation issues you mentioned, the lack of RE4:Wii / RE5 style mouse controls, missing water effects, missing lighting effects, missing sound effects, floating weapons, poor optimization, some other stuff I'm probably forgetting about.
It had to have six patches over the course of two months and it still has a few unresolved issues. Apparently Capcom can't afford to let them provide post-launch support for something longer than two months or so.
I'd say they don't respect/underestimated how nuanced the games are, maybe but that's not what he was getting at. If they really didn't respect the franchise they wouldn't have bankrolled it.I suppose the implication could be that Sony doesn't respect the franchise they just bought.
You were beaten to the punch.Ironic how the team that did the port is called "Other Ocean" and everybody feels like they're playing underwater
Has anybody made that joke yet?

I recall many of those being caused by 60fps and hearing they were fixed. You mention poor optimization, do you mean the in-game anti-aliasing being demanding? IIRC, turning that off and using AA through the control panel or inspector/radeonpro would fix that. In-game AA may be super sampling. Anyway, this has piqued my interest. I'll re-install RE4 and see what's up tomorrow.

I wonder how much money Sony will end up paying for this mess. I'm guessing they saved some by going with Other Ocean (lowest bidder, I'm assuming), but it's not like they can get a refund for their work, and aren't they going to have to pay more to get it all sorted out?
Sony is the publisher, so it's them that would be doing the paying, right? Am I off with that? Would Other Ocean be obligated to fix this, or would they likely go somewhere else to get them from touching it anymore?

I think capcom will probably keep closes ties this time if they plan to fix this. They probably don't want to have this further have the potential to mess with SF 5 reception.Sony'll have to foot whatever bill comes.
That said, if it were me... No way in hell I'd ever give Other Ocean another shot at it. And if I were Capcom, I'd make doubly sure Sony doesn't try to shuttle it off to some other lower bidder, even if that means putting Capcom's own resources on the project.
The only thing I mentioned in that post that was caused by the 60FPS mode, were the broken animations. Which I believe were mostly fixed. A lot of the stuff I mentioned may be fixed now but the point I was trying to make was that they release things really broken and then work on it for a set amount of time. And if they don't manage to fix everything? Whoops, sorry.

Nah, they did that bad port of MK collection last gen and they are ex-Backbone devs, you know the company that can't even port Sega Genesis games to PS360 right.I was planning on buying this, but I will probably wait now until I see what's going to happen with this game. Doesn't Other Ocean Interactive make smartphone games or something? They sound familiar. Why did Capcom give them the job of porting this important "fighting" game to the PS4? Who said demos were a bad thing?

Honestly, I wasn't aware Capcom were not in charge of the port. At the very least, I would have held off on the day 1 purchase.
Captain liquidtmd, the world has changed during the years you were encased in ice.Street Fighter is an important brand. Its one of Capcoms legacy franchises.
the port has nothing to do with sf5 tho
They didn't. Sony did.
One massively bad game/port is all it can take to ruin a company's reputation. This is massively bad.
I mean, I'm done with NRS because of MKX PC.

Have you played the game before?Just picked this game up and played a bit of arcade and I don't see the whole frame lag thing people are talking about.
When I go into training I can set it to 8 frame delay and it feels very off but at 0 the punches are thrown instantly.
Maybe I'm too casual to notice but I went in expecting worse

Pretty much this.I haven't been a huge fan of their PC efforts. When they started using QLOC it really felt like a step down from back when Capcom did things in-house (Lost Planet: Colonies, DMC4, RE5, Lost Planet 2).
I mean, look at, RE4, Revelations 2, and the Steamworks conversion of RE5. Absolute messes.
Nope, great Capcom ports happen only when they do the job internally. QLOC's SSF4AE on PC was hot garbage - missing a ton of screen resolution modes/aspect ratios, random lag and stuttering even in training mode, missing lighting effects etc, and as .:Wesker:. posted their other jobs are full of holes. Not as bad as Other Ocean or High Voltage but vastly inferior to ports like DMC4 or vanilla SF4.You're clueless. QLOC is really great.
Capcom rushing them because they don't want to put in the proper amount of budget.
Controller has less lag, about as much as ps3. Sticks are far worse. It's been proven.
