Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 is much, much better now. Bless.

People don't know that sfv is a new game?

You are literally in a thread where people are spouting these concerns, along with questioning the quality of DMC4 SE just because "Capcom". I'm not saying you are wrong, but it really doesn't matter if you are right when people are letting incorrect information influence them.

No. The input lag issue, much like many other issues, does not seem to happen on everyone's copy all the time. How do I know this? Because credible players have testing THEIR versions without finding the huge input lag.

You cannot trust any test that isn't empirically measured.

There are a few reasons why I spent $100 on a precise lag testing device that I haul around with me when I stream tournaments, chief among them being know-nothing know-it-alls who like to blame their off days on my equipment.

Dmc4 SE isn't an entirely new game tho...

If anything this will probably make Capcom more careful as to what state they release SFV in.

Hopefully but gamers have short memories. After the holidays and when this game releases in the spring no one will care. People will be too happy o get their hands on it.

Not to mention SFV will be playable at CEO next month I believe

I doubt this will bother SFV in any way. Capcom themselves are making the game. The issue with MCC and halo 5 is the same dev is working on it

We're getting a online beta with SFV so people can't really be blindsided like they were with the USF4 PS4 port which I don't think was ever shown publicly or previewed by any gaming sites.

So after this thread I bought USFIV on PSN just to see what all the fuss is about and lol this game is far from being "broken". It plays perfectly fine, runs smooth 60fps, has no graphic or sound glitches and is an overall solid game. Some of the hyperbole in here are really cringeworthy. Yes I'm not a pro player who attends tournments and for my casual needs it is okay I guess but reading some of the comments I thought I would see one of the biggest garbage in video games history. Nothing could be more far from the truth imo.

That should answer your question.

Find someone in the thread who said it's ready for tournaments. You cannot. Because no one said that.

Actually, that's exactly what many folks (probably many who haven't even played it) are saying.

competitive play doesn't strictly mean tournaments. This game, as is, is useless for practice and casuals in preparation for serious play. I doubt this company is competent enough to get it where it needs to be. Nothing they've shown me or said convinces me otherwise.

There has been plenty of games in the past that had a successful beta, and the release suffers in the online department.

Plus, I doubt the beta will cover all of the offline content that Capcom has planned, so there's always room for error/bugs in that regard too.

That being said---I have faith in CAPCOM delivering a product. Random Jobber Studio #209384029? No way in hell.

I said I wouldn't link this again but, ay: https://twitter.com/gilley3D/status/603799238523269120

Gilley is the guy who has been providing the FGC with frame data for years. If anyone doesn't recognize his name and credibility, then that person has no right to call others noobs or laymen.

Arturo Sanchez did his own test streamed and shown inconstant input lag of around 8 frames.

Edit: Even if SFV has bugs and is broken, there's only the PS4 release and PC version which are both developed in house. Its to be expected that a new game will have bugs and glitches people will try to exploit. But that is a different situation with SFIV, a game that has been refined and ported to almost every console for the last 7 years. When Capcom can make a near as a perfect port of Super SFIV on the 3DS launch date as you can possible get on that weak hardware, the fact that the PS4 port which comes almost 18 months after the release of the PS4, and was promised to be a perfect port that you can use for tournaments is this buggy and yes, broken shows how messed up the situation is.

This game should not be a hard game to port, I wish people would acknowledge that.

True, that's his thing, but there really needs to be another version tested with his method for comparison. Did he do this? Just like the input lag database numbers are mostly useful for comparison, and not necessarily as absolutes.

Fun fact he also worked on the God of War series as an animator, and fellow FGC and SRK guy Omni / Derek Daniels was the original combat designer.

Oh man that review:
"This version of the game achieves a visual presentation that rivals the PC version if it were running on a high-end rig."

dat hyperbole.

But really though, the game looks like it's running on max settings on PC with no AF.

Speaking of the PC version, Green Man Gaming has Ultra For 15 dollars. Comes with a steam key. That is the version to get.

So just out of curiosity, ignoring the glitches and stuff how has netplay been for any of you guys who bought it? I've played 6 matches so far. Good news is that I'm undefeated, the bad news is that even though 5 of them said they were green bars(supposedly) every match has been very laggy so far. I'd like to try again tomorrow just to see if it continues staying this bad.

OK so I'm going to have to put myself on blast for this statement. Since I almost never used my PS4, I didn't bother having it connected through a LAN cable. Once I realized that and changed it all my matches with green bar today have been very good besides one which was only a bit laggy. I did try one yellow bar match which was pretty laggy, but that's always been the case.

If online is good and I can access the game very quickly through Suspend/Resume and upload any stuff I want to at my own leisure then what the hell, I'll keep using this version. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending it. I'm just saying I can live with it with those conveniences for now and just hope it gets fixed soon. I still have the PC version right beside me if I want to play more seriously.

There's a bug right now with suspend/resume. Seems to permanantly sign you out of PSN within the game so that you can't find matches when you try online. Just get a message saying no matches found with your search criteria.

Online was decent for me. Green bars felt good, but I had mostly yellow bars when searching in ranked. Contrasted with the PC version where I rarely ever see yellow bars.

I haven't played it since it dropped. My experience with the net play was solid (wired connection). I hear varying results, but green bars were always good for me and there was surprisingly a lot of them compared to the ps3 version.

Yeah, green bars feel great.

I ran into a few legit players as well. Lots of people I felt sorry for, lol. One dude was struggling to throw fireballs. I wanted to help him out.

I had this happen to me earlier, I didn't know it was a bug. I just thought something went wrong. Good to know exactly what the problem is now. If I did it outside of the game would that solve the problem?

The biggest problem with online for me is that the connection bars stay blank for almost every opponent when I'm searching. I just have to choose somebody and hope it's green bar. Admittedly almost every person I randomly chose has been green bar and the matches were pretty good as I already mentioned. So that's another problem that they'll have to iron out. Here is a video to show you guys what I mean. Watch as I struggle to decide which blank bar connection I want to face lol

Are you guys having this problem as well?

Finally put in my stick and put this port for a spin. Now I cant make the most accurate comparisons because I play USF4 on PC with a monitor with 2ms delay vs my TV which has probably 3 times that amount, but training mode definitely felt a lot laggier in terms of inputs. It wasnt that bad for tight links that require very quick timing, like for example Oni FADC combos, which I was able to get multiple times immediately, but for links that require you to wait a bit before inputting like e.Ryu's c.mp after his axe kick or yang's cl.mk, dash, ultra 1 combo, it was very noticeable. It was also pretty noticeable online too, as it felt like I was playing online on PS3. The netcode itself was pretty fine from the 5 or so matches I played, but because of the additional input lag it just felt like I was playing underwater. Remove the additional input lag and 4/5 matches I had wouldve felt extremely responsive.

All in all, I really feel like this game can be fixed and not in a very long amount of time either. The other problems that have been posted like graphical bugs and FADC combos not working properly I never came across. People talked of e.Ryu's FADC combos not working properly but I could do his c.mk xx fireball, FADC, s.mp/c.mk, lk tatsu xx hp DP combo just fine. I didnt test FADC off lk axe kick though, so maybe that's the one that's borked. With those graphical/animation/sound bugs not being the same across all consoles, it probably means that at the very least the problems arent deep enough that the game is beyond saving.

I had the blank bar connection on PS3 as well (where it's Russian roullette with which game you join). Pretty sure it's a firewall issue where you can't determine their ping until you actually directly connect to them.

Sorry but your opinion holds no weight.

You're not going to understand the problems people have because you don't play fighting games.

Try ultras e.ryu trial, took me almost 2 hours to complete it, It felt like I was playing MK9...

Indeed. It also locked my console twice during the same situation, forcing a hard reset of the system.

Man, this makes me think the worse. Yikes!

It looks like they ported the PS3 version to PS4, judging by the texture and alphas.

So it maybe is irreparable.

They probably did that because the button prompts would be the same...

*facepalm*

Is that a legit reason they gave for porting the PS3 version instead of PC?

Seriously?

Man, move over High Voltage, there's a new developer trying to steal your crown for garbage ports.

I say that's bull. All Capcom/Sony had to do, was to use the PC version, since porting PC versions of games over to PS4 is much easier.

It shouldn't be hard to map the button configurations to make it work on the Dualshock 4 controllers at all.

Anyone else experiencing problems with custom button configuration? Everytime I boot up, my shoulder buttons are completely unresponsive. I have to go into button config and back out again for them to do anything. Of course, I cometely forget to do this and end up completely screwing up a combo because the button doesn't do anything.

No one knows which version they used. The game looks like the PC version maxed without AF.

If they actually did use the PS3 version to port though.....I really just dont wanna believe they would be that incompetent lol. Theyve already proven theyre near worthless

Doubt it's the PS3 port given how similar PS4 architecture is to PCs..

It doesn't. DF says that the textures are not PC native.
