If Star Fox was like Vanquish? Dear god... I wouldn't be able to contain myself.

That would be amazing, but that's likely not what Star Fox U will be.
I pictures a return to the assault format, but with vanquish styled gameplay (themed after abilities in Smash) on foot and normal 64 gameplay in the air.

Maybe but:

The game in question is an "unannounced" one. I concede that Starfox wasn't "properly" announced, but "technically" it was.

Yet again, if it is Starfox, I think that Nintendo would show it during the Digital Event instead of leaving it to an off-hand event led by IGN. Yet IGN stated "gameplay reveal", so It is possible the game is announced during another conference with a trailer while later IGN has exclusive hands-on Treehouse-style (already happened with Wonderful 101 during E3 2012 also).

Didn't Kamiya say at one point he wanted to do a Wonder Red or Wonder Blue solo game? That could easily be a Viewtiful Joe styled game or something closer to Bayonetta that might sell better. I think Wonderful 101's combat was just to out there for people to really accept. If that was toned down some things would be a lot better.
