I didn't play the Halo 5 beta, but how did the Hydra compare to Reach's plasma launcher? It seemed to be meant to attack infantry, and the projectiles moved faster? Did it require a charge?

Hydra required a zoom plus a second or two to lock on an enemy. Plasma launcher was instantaneous lock on. Plasma launcher projectiles are much slower and required hold to charge. Hydra are much faster and can curve heavily around objects to cross-map. You can shoot as many as the clip had. Hydra and plasma launcher can fire without lock on but both are far less effective.

Hydra was, to me, far more effective against infantry than the plasma launcher ever was. Because the shells track so aggressively and fly pretty fast, it was great for taking out entrenched enemies... something the plasma launcher could absolutely NEVER do.

I probably got as many kills with the Hydra in three weeks of H5 Beta than with the Plasma Launcher during all my time playing multi on Halo Reach.

Speaking of the Plasma Launcher, is it just me or does it look like it was meant to be a Covenant precision weapon earlier on in development, but at some point they came up with the Nerfle / Focus Rifle and ended up switching the bulk of the gun around? It even has a scope on backwards.

Quick and dirty edit with what I'm talking about:

It just struck me as "we came up with a cool silhouette and rolled with it." It never really looked much like any sort of launcher, but I liked a lot more than the Needle Rifle, which I felt had some weird angles, especially in first-person.

LOL how did I never notice this?

The grip plus orientation of the sight/scope makes way more sense like this. The narrow bit should've ben akin to a barrel or tube while the bulky rotating bit should've been more like a revolver's chamber.

Hey guys, any help?

I'm stuck on the downloading latest data for Halo MCC. What do I do?

Edit: Haha, finally worked. Dashboard and then Clicked Halo MCC. I tried it twice before but it didn't work. Third times the charm I guess.

I'm looking forward to seeing Team Blue's faces without the whole terribad art thing. Though I wish that the idea of "the face behind the mask" was still a cool reveal.

“If these were real guys, they would all be quarterbacks,” says franchise development director Frank O’Connor. “But they are ultimately people. So they’re not robotic, single-minded monsters like Tom Brady. They’re more noble, handsome, beautiful Russell Wilson-types in my estimation. And you can quote me on that.””

I like the helmet designs way more in Halo 5 than what they did in 4, they are still a bit busy, but they look more practical. I might actually use something other than Mark V & VI.

Which also reminds me, I hope they put the ODST and Mark V helmets in Halo 4.

PS Stinkles.

Thanks for admitting Tom Brady is more akin to a Spartan II and Russel is more akin to a Spartan IV.

I said he was a single minded robot, and obviously one that could deflate.

It's refreshing that they're not overly beautiful or anything. Not ugly by any measure, but not supermodels. Just people. They should have followed that example for the men and made Buck less dashingly handsome

We tried and it was physically impossible.

The United Nations Space Command forms a second team of Spartans - led by Jameson Locke - to hunt down Blue Team. (This team is called Fireteam Osiris and you can read more about them later today.)

I thought ONI made Fireteam Osiris to hunt down Chief?
