Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Scrooged

Totally wronger about Nintendo's business decisions.
Digital Foundry had a go with the PS4 version and they said the majority is 30fps rock....steady. That can't be said for the PC port. I see people in this thread with 980s and whatnot and they still experience these massive frame-drops.

It's been mentioned already, but it seems like the DRM is the prime suspect with a lot of these issues. Wouldn't be surprised if they patch it out in a few weeks. Or sooner.

What does The Witcher 3 has to do with what he said? He specifically mentioned batman, which according to digital foundry runs absolutely great. There are cards several times more powerful than the PS4 that has performance issues and weird drops, so it's not like he made the wrong decision.

Dont know if you just suck at reading comprehension or what...

Well then I don't know what to tell you. Tested it as soon as I started it up and got up to about 65 or so FPS as my maximum. If you think I'm lying, so be it.

Benchmark isn't locked to 30 fps, only the story mode. Unfortunately the benchmark also isn't representative of real gameplay, it feels like it belongs to another game to be honest lol.

Hmm, used a VPN to unlock the game and install it. Half way through I got a disk write error on Steam. If I have to download this again

There is no way, a game with nvidia partnership, will be locked to 30FPS. There should be a day 1 patch.

There's also "no point" in having a 980 either than by that logic. Since you cant consistently go over 30fps. Waste of power.

Wow, im salty.

I meant to say there is no point in purchasing the game a second time if you already own it on PC, and your PC is able to deliver at least 1080p/30fps.

Soon as I removed the 30fps lock, performance has been great. Pretty much solild 60fps, the only time it drops in when driving the Batmobile. Noticed some stuttering while driving like others have mentioned though it really isn't that bad/noticeable to me. I am using the 350.12 drivers

Everthing is maxed except for the first two NVIDIA options which are greyed out for what ever reason.

1440p
GTX 980 FTW
i7 4790k @ 4.8
16GB ram
vsync on
fullscreen

Also, I was hovering around 4000mb of VRAM and 80-100% GPU usage

People on the Steam forums seem to be under the impression that there's a day one patch for PC. I highly doubt it, especially considering they can push patches through faster on PC...makes no sense that consoles would have a 3.5GB patch, and nothing for PC (Not referring to the 100mb DLC patch).

Warner Bros are 2/2 with Mortal Kombat and this piece of shit. As a fan / someone who played and finished all of the previous Arkham games, this is a pretty big slap in the face.

What were they thinking when they put this 30fps lock?

And did they even QA this game on PC ?

And how come Nvidia was partner and they did not notice how bad it preforms on PC, let alone going along with forcing a 30fps lock.

Lol I thought Rocksteady would have learned their lesson after shackling their last games to GFWL and then removing it. Now this has Denuvo? What?

That's because you're not using the latest drivers. They work if you upgrade. Not that they're worth it, unless you like playing games at 10fps.

Did the same thing, and while the framerate is steady as you say, constant stuttering just kills everything.

No stuttering here with a 30fps cap on my system (5820K, Titan X, SSD, 16GB). Seriously, I'm the first one to complain about even the slightest stutter/frame pacing issue. There was none during the intro sequence. At all.

EDIT: BTW, Steam is downloading a 1.2GB update for AK. Day one patch perhaps? :)

Denuvo, apparently. Any type of tech like that results in some kind of overhead depending on the system configuration.

Hasn't Denuvo been broken, or was that heresay? I would imagine if it's been busted, can't the user bust it and fix the problem? Or is one stuck solely in piracy to get passed that annoying issue?

The PC port is perfectly capable of a "rock steady" 30fps, and still is the best version of the game if your hardware can handle 30fps/1080p+. ;-)

Of course, no doubts about that. But the matter of fact is the PS4 (and I assume XBO as well), at least according to DF, doesn't have these kind of very frequent frame-drops. I'd happily take 30fps pretty much locked than 60fps with heavy fluctuating to mid-twenties and in several cases even mid-tens or single digits, which is exactly what AK is at this moment.

I've given up for the night. No vsync, framerate unlocked and it goes from anywhere around 80fps to 25fps, stuttering everywhere. Sure, it's playable but it's uncomfortable.

I swear it's the Denuvo DRM because the same thing happened to me with Lords of the Fallen.

Reposting this from the OT. Anyone else on PC not able to look at the DLC? I choose the option in the main menu and it says "must be connected to a Steam account", even though I am logged into Steam.

"Verify integrity of game cache" seems to be totally broken. I just started it for fun and it deleted the whole game. Maybe there is a problem with the preload data? Fortunately I have a very fast internet connection.
