Calling all Sony insiders: will this year's TGS be Sony's "Japanese E3"

Last year's TGS was great. On par with Gamescom and PSX for me. This year has nice potential too.

I'm pretty sure Persona 5 would have a release date by then so I expect a final trailer before launch. I just want a North American release date though, so it won't deliver on that front.

I personally hope for Gravity Rush, Danganronpa 3, Level 5's game and more info/trailers/release date on The Last Guardian, The Tomorrow Children and Bloodborne. If all of that is there, amazing. I think even if Polyphony Digital is right there, Gran Turismo 7 is something they'd keep for Paris Games Week or PSX instead.

This list is awful?

SCEJA pre-TGS 2013:

Phantasy Star Nova
New Gravity Project (Gravity Daze 2)
Danganronpa : Another Episode
Danganronpa 3 (tease)
Soul Sacrifice : Delta
Kagero : Dark Princess
Sengoku Musou 4
Dynasty Warriors 8 : Xtreme Legends
Natural Doctrine
Yakuza Ishin
Lily Bergamo (lol);____;
Gundam (tease)
IM@S (tease)
Dream C Club
Earth Defense Force (tease)

SCEJA pre-TGS 2014:

not!Way of the Samurai
Luminous Arc Infinity
Uta no Price-sama
NeoRomance otome line-up
Everybody's Golf
Bladestorm
Disgaea 5
Biohazard Revelations 2
Yakuza Zero
God Eater 2 : Rage Burst
One Piece Pirate Warriors 3
Senran Kagura : Estival Versus
Ys 8
Fairy Fencer F : Advent Dark Force
Persona 5 (port)
Dragon Quest Heroes

Seriously?

People just want something to complain about.

Ys8(which who knows when will we get) and Yakuza Zero (ditto) are the only games I personally more or less care about in your lists. I'll care about Gravity Daze 2 when we actually see that thing.

This may come as a surprise to you, but some people give zero fucks about musou, idol shit and senran kaguro-type crap.

Are you hating on Estival Versus brah?

Most certainly not. Nothing is happening this TGS. Expect nothing as you should and it'll be smooth sailing from here on out.

Devil May Cry 5.

JUST BRING IT ALREADY!!!
What would this game be? I love Dante, but he is simply way too overpowered story wise. Unless it's between DMC3 and DMC1, I would just prefer either Nero or a new character. And we could also have the crew have cameo appearances. The world and gameplay is there, I would be ok with a Dante-less DMC at least as main character POV.

I'm expecting to at least see Gravity Rush 2 and the HD remaster that leaked a while back. Hopefully JRPG #1 will surface.

I think Dragon Quest XI will have its own event either before or after TGS. If before, I'd expect Sony to at least show a trailer or something during its press conference.

If Sony smart they should remaster Gravity Rush for PS4 before releasing GR2.
That game had so much potential it was amazing on PS vita and it could be even better on PS4 not to mention millions of PS4 owners didn't have Vita let alone Xbox converters which we know are shit tons

What about the rest of the games?

The 2 samurai games (Not Way of the samurai), Soul Sacrifice Delta, Phantasy Star Nova, Deception 4, EDF, Everybody's Golf, Disgaea 5, God Eater 2?

Not musou, idol shit or senran kagura-type crap (whatever that means)

Gravity Rush didn't sell well and isn't well known so it'd be best to remaster it and bundle it with the sequel, make a cheap digital release or just make a spiritual successor so there aren't any story ties to the first game. I know the remaster is in works, however.

Also Sony's past few events before TGS have been great for the Japanese audience, which is what its for, the Japanese audience. This year it might be better but I don't understand why every year people get hyped for TGS only to be disappointed when they see extremely Japanese oriented games and not the stuff they want.

Be realistic.

Best wishes.

o me, I expect a better, but ultimately roughly 'on-par' show with last year's pre-TGS.

As in a lot of 'more niche' games that's very domestically catered, most of them of which won't even sell more than 500k domestically, much less over a million.

Man.. This is exactly what is not going to change anything about the Japanese market imo. If this is what happens this year and the next then Japan is really done for.

Not an insider. I expect a Level-5 game announcement (maybe 2?), at least 1 of the rumoured Sony JRPG's from SCEJ, Gravity Daze 2 for PS4 (no Vita), more on The Last Guardian but no new announcements from Square Enix. However, I do expect to hear more on Nier 2, Project Setsuna, Star Ocean 5, World of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XII HD, Kingdom Hearts HD PS4, Kingdom Hearts III and of course, Final Fantasy XV. I also expect at least one new thing from Capcom, if they have any shame at least. I think it will be a very good conference.

Yeah, last year's was already quite good, this year's has a good chance to be even better if they bring more footage/info from these and if SCEJ has a couple of those announcements ready as well. I'd imagine the Level-5 game will be there since it was expected to be at E3 before the crazy 3 probably squeezed it out.

Based on Sony's messaging lately, I wouldn't be surprised if they make an honest effort to rehabilitate TGS and reserve hype moments for it.

Yeah.

The speculation is that the FF7 Remake is actually the CC2 RPG. The hints that they gave when they announced it all lineup with FF7R.

Iirc they are also working on a VR game, .hack maybe? That's Eyes of Heaven, Naruto, Remake and the VR Game. CC2 is busy.

I don't know if there's a team so to speak, but I do vaguely recall that Gavin Moore said he was heading a smaller, digital-only project after Puppeteer proved to be a massive commercial flop. Shame that, because the game is ace, but there you go.

That's a real shame. Puppeteer was a beautiful game. I'd have really loved to see what that team could have done on the PS4.

Although the TGS is not coming, PlayStation already got many PS exclusive JRPGs.

I am really excited about this TGS.

Hired studio do not base earning on sale right? MS pay the bill, they got pay, everybody win.

Then they will release enhanced edition for PlayStation platform.

It'll be interesting to see what Sony does at TGS considering MS is probably going to go big at Gamescom.

Absolutely nothing in context of MS.

I can safely say that we'll see a very domestically focused event, we'll see niche games with limited global appeal, updates of stuff announced at E3 like Nier,Setsuna, etc, folks talking in Japanese and none of the global event galore that MS's event will have.

I want these to happen:

- Hot Shots Golf (PS4)
- Level-5 JRPG
- Dragon Quest XI
- Gravity Rush 2
- Persona 5
- Final Fantasy XV
- Final Fantasy XII HD Remastered
- Bloodborne expansion
- Monster Hunter X and Story gameplay
- Devil May Cry 5
- Street Fighter V characters

those aren't 3DS games?

Iirc they are also working on a VR game, .hack maybe? That's Eyes of Heaven, Naruto, Remake and the VR Game. CC2 is busy.

They've teased three project with various descriptions

Project 1 (this is the one believed to be FF7R)
- RPG
- Large scale development
- Photo realistic
- Physical based rendering
- UE4
- Made for a worldwide audience

Project 2
- Open world

Project 3
- VR

Bloodrage

I'll be happy with just Gravity Rush 2 + Remaster of Gravity Rush.

But I do hope we see Level-5's PS4 game, and Monster Hunter PS4, and Suikoden, and whatever else Verendus hinted at.

I'm hoping for some more JRPGS. Who knows though!

Also, I read somewhere that Sony won't be at gamescom, is this true?

I'm looking for:
New Gundam (offline and boxed please)
New Yakuza
New Musou
Persona 5 info (prob not out by Sept)
Gravity Daze HD
Gravity Daze 2
Deep Down
Bloodborne Expansion
FFVIIR info
FFXV info
KH3 info
What's great about that list is that is pretty much 100% to happen based on current news and patterns of announcements.

Sony wont have a conference at Gamescom, that is true. They will have an EU conference after TGS, at Paris Games Week this year.

No press conference.

Sony's schedule this year :
E3 Press Conference : June 15th
SCEJA Press Conference : Normally 1/2 weeks before TGS. Early September.
PGW Press Conference : October 27th

PSX is also expected, but that isn't confirmed yet.

I hope, even more so then last year, the do a complete focus on Japanese titles. I don't need any of that western stuff at TGS.

Vergil will return to whoop Dante's ass, and then Mundus or some other powerful demon will be resurrected. Boom Dante has a challenge now. Did you see how OP Vergil looks in DMC4:SE kappa?

Another issue is the development time of Japanese titles, I hope we see at this TGS that they have reigned that in thanks to eg. UE4.

You don't need it, but non-English speaking Japanese fans need it. =/

Japanese gaming fans couldn't care less about Western games or any news about that, though.

If they did, then PS4 would definitely have a lot more than 1 million & a quarter owners in Japan.

I have a feeling it'll be pretty solid. We've already seen hints that KH3 would be there (per Nomura)... meaning Square Enix will have a presence. Level-5 still has their games. Cygames has a new studio as well, CyberConnect2 has 3 games they are working on... Capcom has Deep Down (probably other titles still MIA too)... maybe even Sega will have a presence there.
