wait wtf so GMG won't refund until after the patch which might turn it into a PS3-level game for all we know?

I feel so robbed.

No GMG will issue refunds to all who ask for refund because WB told them to do that. Then they will send keys to WB and WB will deactivated them from Steam.

After playing some more today, I again noticed that I got no stuttering for the first 20 minutes or so, and then it begins and makes the game almost unplayable. Defiantly a memory leak i think.

Decided to at least put in the first hour or so, do the first couple of side missions.

Even with all the tweaks, and everything turned to low/off, the framerate veers wildly between 30-80FPS. which is good, it's playable, sure. but with IQ like Mud.

Happy I bought the game, I know i'm gonna have shitloads of fun with it. But yeah. I'll wait for the patch. :)

Well, I don't get the PC retail version. It activate through Steam, I'm okay with that. But it installs only 7 GB of the game ?! I still have to download 27 GB even if the box contains 5 fucking DVDs ? What are they filled with ? Air ? Rain effects ?

I suspect this is related to the issue of cache verification causing the game to delete itself, which was fixed with an unannounced patch. I'd wager some overprotective function of Denuvo is to blame.

Just had my first crash on Founder's Island right after
the destruction of the long range missile battery.
Not happy about it.

So I have myself a bit of a dilemma. I own a PS4 and I convinced myself to pick up the premium PC version from Green Man Games when they offered the 40% off discount deal which came out to about $54 bucks.

When this fiasco started (prior to WB pulling the game from Steam/retail), I heard that they were offering refunds if the first patch released did not "fix" the game. Then WB pulled the game to work on it until it's all sorted out. I wasn't sure if Green Man Games would change their tune if this process ended up taking like a month or more so I emailed their support asking them what their return policy on Batman: AK is under the circumstances and here is the reply I received:

txqfjSd.jpg

Now, normally, if my PC met the "ultra" requirements or if I had a 3GB+ video card, it would be a no brainer for me to assume that I would be playing the "superior" version of the game after they re-release the fixed (and hopefully, visually complete) game. But here are my specs:

i7 920 overclocked to 3.9 GHz
GTX 770 2GB
12 GB RAM

My i7 is dated even though I was able to overclock it. And my 770 is only 2GB, so unless they highly optimize the build, "normal" textures are a no-no for me. I realize we can only speculate at this point, but with my PC build in mind, what would you guys assume my chances would be in having a PS4 (or better) experience with the PC version once the fix hits? If I refund it now and purchase the PS4 version, that would be the safe option, but I have to buy it at full price. If I wait and try to take advantage of the 40% off deal, I run the risk of it still not playing too great even after the patch and potentially not being able to refund it, or if it does run well it still might not be up to par with the PS4 version.

I am at a crossroads GAF.

For the record, I'm running an i7 920 @ 4.1, but HT is disabled.
Also using 12GB ram

So, really the only difference in our machine is I have a 970 vs your 770. AK plays fine for me, the 920 isn't holding it back at all. With tweaks, with the 970 I'm able to hit 60+fps 90% of the time at 1080p with everything maxed/on except enhanced fog and enhanced debris in the gameworks settings (It drops into the mid 50s, mostly when using Batmobile). If I lock it to 30fps I can downsample from 1440p and it stays a rocksolid 30fps 100% of the time

If you want to play it sooner, rather than later, I'd suggest refund and the PS4 version. If you don't mind waiting, I still think your system would give your PS4 or better performance once its fixed (And there's no way they don't fix it considering how bad it's making WB/Rocksteady look.)

Is there a reason you disabled Hyper Threading? And you don't think my 2GB card will hold back the textures? I thought the 970 was a 4GB card?

With HT enabled I can't get my overclock any higher than 3.8 stable, so I can hit 4.1 stable with it off. After doing some game benchmarks, I gain anywhere from 5-9 FPS depending on the game. Not much, but it can mean the difference between a locked 60 for some games or not.

And I think once they fix the texture streaming, the 2GB shouldn't be much of an issue IMO. As for the 970. its technically 3.5gb but I've frequently tried texture sizes that suggest 5+GB for them without issue, especially at 1080p.

I concur.

Also have a stock 920 and I can play at a mostly locked 30fps @ 4k + Gamworks with my Titan X. Game is not even using all my VRAM. I have 16G of main RAM too and SSD. So, very few bottlenecks for me.

Man I had no idea that disabling HT would squeeze out more over clocking potential...I would have turned that shit off years ago when I went through the painful process of getting my overclock to run stable. Now It's been so long I'm worried if I fuck around with it, I'll mess everything up, lol.

Easiest thing to try is to simply turn off HT, not mess with any of your voltage settings and try turning up the overclock a bit. I was able to hit 4.1 simply by turning my voltage up 1 notch from where I had it stable at 3.8 with HT on.

And then run something like Prime95 for some time to make sure no crashes or errors happen.

Rocksteady is leading our team of developers and partners as we work on the PC performance issues that players have been encountering. The work is significant and while we are making good progress on improving performance, it will take some time to ensure that we get the right fixes in place.

Below is the list of the key areas where we are dedicating our resources to improve the experience for our loyal fans:
Support for frame rates above 30FPS in the graphics settings menu
Fix for low resolution texture bug
Improve overall performance and framerate hitches
Add more options to the graphics settings menu
Improvements to hard drive streaming and hitches
Address full screen rendering bug on gaming laptops
Improvements to system memory and VRAM usage
NVIDIA SLI bug fixes
Enabling AMD Crossfire
NVIDIA and AMD updated drivers
While we work on improving performance, we will also continue to make interim patches available to address issues for those still playing the game on PC. The first patch is being released now and the updates include:
Fixed a crash that was happening for some users when exiting the game
Fixed a bug which disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion. We are actively looking into fixing other bugs to improve this further
Corrected an issue that was causing Steam to re-download the game when verifying the integrity of the game cache through the Steam client
Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when turning off Motion Blur in BmSystemSettings.ini. A future patch will enable this in the graphics settings menu
We would like to thank our fans for their patience and invaluable feedback. We will continue to monitor and listen for any additional issues.

It's nice that they work on it and that they fixed rain and ao, but on the other hand that tells again how little testing seeed to be involved. Do we know what happend with Iron Galaxy, did they flee to cuba or are they hiding within the country?

Yep just checked and can confirm rain effects, AO, and what appears to be the correct bokeh DOF are in game.

Still stutters a lot and has bad LOD problems but hey it's a start.

Hopefully.this doesn't work performance on my system. I have had a lack of problems with hitching, crashes and frame drop problems but have definitely been missing the missing effects.

Knock on wood that restoring the effects doesn't affect my luck with the other stuff.

Also possible is I just am not sensitive to framerate problems. I also play Witcher 3 with hairworks and no complaints. Sometimes, not ever looking at FRAPS is a good placebo ;-)

So the rain effects and ambient were just bugs? Well at least they didn't take long in fixing those.

What did you think they were? If something is running on console hardware it sure as hell can run on PC and if it's missing - it's a bug, no other way about that.

Weird.

If I start the game with a 720p reso or change it to 720p it doesn't stutter much. I can change it to 1080p afterwards and it still doesn't stutter much.

However, when the game starts on 1080p I notice a lot more stutter and issues.

So I'm now always starting it in 720p and change the reso to 1080 once I'm playing.

Specs: I5-750, 6GB RAM, Sapphire Radeon 7950 Boost, Crucial M4 SSD

Settings: Fullscreen, 1080p, v-sync and AA on, textures/shadows/detail on normal, nvidia stuff off, 30fps cap on and nothing changed in the ini

It performs pretty well for some reason, it's really weird.

Of course. Of course the evening I apply for a refund and get the PS4 version instead is the evening a patch turns up that might fix my crashing issues.

Oh well. Hope the patch turns things around for at least some of you guys.

So how long does it actually take for Warner Brothers to actually deactivate your key? Got my refund from GMG and still seem to have the game

How is it, that I have a GTX 980, and the game just completeley stutters when ever I turn it on. as a matter of fact when I turn the game on it doesnt even pop in full screen, I just here the sound and my screen remains on the windows desktop. When I click the batman icon in the bottom toolbar.. STUTTER CITY. I have to power off my laptop in order to even do anything.

Cause you have a 980m? Not nearly on the same level as a 980.

I think I know the problem you are describing and how to fix it, my friend had this issue with his 970M, so maybe affects mobile Maxwell cards generally. When you start the game and it starts going crazy, flashing and looks like its constantly alt-tabbing, just press [/mash if it doesnt work] Alt-Enter [windows shortcut for "toggle window fullscreen/windowed"] and it should go to windowed mode but stop flashing/stuttering, then simply go into the options and change the display mode to "borderless fullscreen", it wont stutter/flash and it will look identical to true fullscreen.

It must be very frustrating for rocksteady to have their name associated with the PC version. AK is their biggest game yet and realistically, it should have been delayed on all platforms.

This is what mine does

Yeah, there's a known bug with playing it fullscreen on laptops, they've acknowledged it:

You have to run it in borderless window mode for the time being.

Has WB explained why it thought releasing the game like this was acceptable?

Apologies and fixes are well and good but there's no way they didn't know the game was like this. They decided to release it anyway. People should keep blasting them and shitting on them until they explain why they released the game this way.

Ignorance? Assuming PC players wouldn't complain? Not realizing that people can get refunds on Steam now?

Whatever it was, the fact that they stopped sales sure made it seem like they weren't expecting a backlash of this magnitude.

Pretty impressive list of fixes and improvements they have planned. I was tempted to reinstall today when I saw there was a patch, but I can wait a few months if needs be. I'd like to play this game in the best state possible.

I wonder if I should buy this since it can be found for real cheap right now. I didn't like Asylum or Blackgate, and I'm not into open world games... but man, it's cheap and the console version is getting so much praise :x I obviously wouldn't download it until it gets completely fixed.

This game is the epitome of open world games. The missions are much closer to Assassin's Creed than Witcher 3. If you didn't like the previous games in the series and you're not a fan of open world games, the low price isn't going to change much for you.

Where is the console version so cheap?
