Wow, he seemed healthy at E3, which is what makes it so startling. I knew he had health problems, but I thought they had been dealt with. Rest in piece.

Oh wow. The man certainly had a presence in the industry and I appreciated his candor with fans. Sad to hear this news. RIP =(

Maybe Shibata? I honestly have no idea. Everyone on the board of directors is incredibly old. It won't be Miyamoto. He's 62 and too ingrained on the creative side of things. Aside from Shibata, I cannot think of anyone else. NOE has had a very solid turnaround under his leadership.
Kimishima is my guess. He spearheaded Pokemon in the US and oversaw the Wii boom in the west.

He was moved to NCL when Iwata became CEO of NOA. I wonder if he was doing that knowing he was getting sick.

I was pulling for him since the news of his condition was first announced. Condolences.

I started playing games with Kirby and my most profound, recent gaming experience has been discovering Earthbound through Virtual Console - it felt like a lost childhood gem for me. Just magic. I really appreciate the fun I had because of this man's game development and business.

Saw this on another gaming forum and didn't believe the title of the thread so I raced over here immediately and saw it was here too.....I'm in shock right now.

Damn, his situation must have been much more serious than anyone knew. Even so this took me by surprise. I thought it was a joke at first, but it's true. Oh man, this is...damn. My heart goes out to his family. He still had many years ahead of him....

It is sad to see someone who contributed so much to the industry die so young. I thought he had good views towards gaming and I was hoping he would be able to turn things around for Nintendo.

I'll remember him for the awesome Iwata Asks and Nintendo Directs. Delivered Directly to us.
