We at HAL found a way to bring our idea to life. Our team believed deeply in the concept, and we did not waver in our approach. So in this important sense, we at HAL were just like every one of you. Even if we come from different sides of the world... speak different languages... even if we eat too many chips or rice balls... even if we have different tastes in games... Every one of us here today is identical... in the most important way. Each one of us has the heart of a gamer. Thank you for your attention!

I'm sure someone may have posted this already but it came to mind when I saw the pic

Who is this person? This is a strange thing to say if they aren't involved with the project and/or Nintendo, as though Iwata's passing and this title are in any way related. Sorry if I'm being ignorant.

He's just trying to be polite. I understand your interpretation, but I don't think that was intentional by whoever wrote it.

What?!

I knew he was a little ill a while ago, but I thought he got better? I mean, he was on the last stream, wasn't he?

RIP, you legend. I'll never forget that E3 video where you fought Reggie.

I posted my thoughts pages ago, but this thread and the Internet's response has me in tears.

Thank you so much for the years of joy, Mr. Iwata. It's abundantly clear how much of an impact you had on people from around the world.

End of an era for Nintendo. RIP For good or for bad, he always had a unique vision of what he wanted from the company, and he always had this playfulness that made him easy to like.

It's even more bizarre to me that he just did the investors meeting the other week, doing what he loved and was passionate about even though he knew things were probably grim. He is a champion.

I was in the middle of tearing down our Comic-Con booth and I had to take a few minutes. I'm literally sitting here crying. I feel so stupid snd pretentious because it's not like I even knew him, and I'm just a game journalist + Nintendo fan. But Iwata-san was directly responsible for so much of what made my childhood awesome, and for so much of what I love now as an adult. He always seemed like he had such genuine love for Nintendo, video games, and Nintendo fans... like he just adored his job.

I can't believe he's not going to be the face of Nintendo Directs anymore. I can't reconcile how he's just... gone so suddenly. This is hitting me in a much bigger way than I ever thought possible. I'm just heartbroken.

Rest in peace, Mr. Iwata.

I can't believe this. It's a sad, sad day in the video game world. This is the first time an industry death has caught me off guard like this. I can't begin to express how saddened I am by this news. The man exuded enthusiasm and he's left behind an incredible legacy.

RIP, Mr. Iwata.
