And rightfully so.

I remember hearing he had to have surgery a year ago for "unspecified" stuff but this all happened so fast. I mean.. He seemed fine during the financial presentation back in May and he was well enough to go hang out with the Jim Hensen company for the Direct @ E3 puppet work.. and then boom. Gone. :(

So very sad.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
I'm adding him to my island in Tomodachi Life so he can live forever :/

I'm actually kinda worried about the future of Nintendo right now. With the Wii U bombing and the 3DS on its last legs, the last thing they're shaky unknown direction needed was the legend himself Iwata passing like this. We shit on several of his decisions, but so much of Nintendo is either directly contributed to him(the man made the code they used for Mario jumping physics!!!) or heavily influenced by him.

Got no idea what the future holds for Nintendo.

Nintendo was already transitioning to a new direction. The NX is being made, services are being built, contracts are already signed. This is all stuff Iwata put into place (although of course it's debatable just how much it was him vs. other leaders of the company).

The fact that Takeda and Miyamoto are taking care of things right now tells me that the NOA board still values the old guard of the company. At the same time it's quite likely that Nintendo shareholders and the board will seek someone who does want to push for more changes sooner.

I had no idea he was experiencing health problems. Damn. That's too young to go. I know some people thought he wasn't good for Nintendo, but he was always a classy man and is a real loss to the world. Rest in peace, Iwata-san. Condolences to his family (real and Nintendo), friends and colleagues.

Just saw the news. Shaking, feel like I'm going to cry...

The man was such a huge part of my life, year after year after year. I remember when my Grandmother passed during my law exams and my father was suffering from depression. The thing that got me through the two days of the funeral was looking forward to the E3 2005 conference, and all the joy, laughter and anticipation it would bring.

Nintendo is the only company I've ever had any emotional attachment to, and so much of that was down to the way Iwata ran things. I just... I just can't believe it. I'm just in complete denial.

Rest in peace Iwata, I can't imagine ever, ever seeing your like ever again.

Jesus I'm going to lie down, I can't handle this
Yeah, I know that feeling. After my mom died of cancer, two weeks after my dad died, I know playing Nintendo games like Smash and Pokemon helped at times to just distract me. :(

If someone could add the ribbon to my avatar, I would very much appreciate it.

Horrible news. Feels like it came out of the blue even knowing he was having some health issues. Things aren't going to be the same going forward. RIP Mr. Iwata

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
I...I don't understand. :(

But I don't wanna be rude by asking this, but in all seriousness, what is the protocol for this? Is there anyone who was chosen to stand in for Iwata in case this happened since I imagine Nintendo probably felt this might be coming, until they can officially decide a new President? Who is the most likely person?

Thread is just moving too fast. PM me for requests. Might take a while to get through all of them.
