The Wii u won one, and ppl are upset...it's not all fanboyism. It brought something new when it first came out, and now all that's been stripped out.

I'm glad more people get to try it but frankly the new port is a shell of the original

What did the Wii U win here? A game that no one bought on their system that had to be ported to current gen systems in order to try to get the publisher's money back?

The feeling of looking down on your GamePad, while looking away from your TV screen, is something no game has ever done before. It is exactly like real life. If you look in your backpack you won't really see your surroundings. This feeling is simulated perfectly in the Wii U version and is simply put it's very best feature. This is something that gives the game it's magical feel and is also something that is simply unable to transfer well to a ported, controller only, version of the game.

The original version had the filter and a kind of dusty, and most importantly, dirty feel about it. You were truly surviving. It's you that is playing the game. Of course, some may like it and others not. But this feature did give it that extra atmospheric kick in the nuts like my first example with the GamePad and your surroundings.

The feeling of traversing a world where other Survivors could live, breathe and die in, is not entirely unique. However, the fact that you can actually loot the killed Survivor (Friend) is another perfect example of immersion.

All these 3 points are very important when judging/reviewing this specific port. I would love a great PC port (will download tonight) like anyone else. But please, let's keep it real. This port should be judged on it's own merits and should not be compared to the U version.

It's not the same game. It's not the same content.

Stop the hyperbole lol the game sold fine for what it is, your acting like PS4, and xbox one havent gotten plenty of other ports of older games, heck even WiiU got old ports. I'm sure they made their money back if they didnt it would have been ported long ago

I agree 100%!

I can live without a local only 1v1 mutliplayer mode. It's hardly the selling point of the game is it?

All multiplayer features were stripped I hear, which includes some other things including friends list players who died could spawn in your game as 'super zombies', who would be more powerful based on that survivors time alive, and could drop the supplies they were carrying, would have the players name above their head, and some other minor features effected by other friends activities.

It was an awesome addition, and added hours upon hours of gameplay here

Never had the urge to play it once, but sucks you can't play it anymore now they've taken it out of the Wii U version.

Yeh I know about the feature, I had the game on the Wii U. Still downloading now for the PS4 as the game will be fun regardless of online features like that.

For what it is? It was a new IP by a major game company.

My first character just died. 1 hour 35 mins, with 35 zombies killed. I didnt realize all they gotta do is grab onto you and your infected.... i've tried to cheat the system though and turned off the PS4 before "pushing X to continue" after your character goes down. Im going back in, dont know if it saved or not.

Playing on PS4 without issue, with ingame brightness at 35%. Game is very good.

For starters, there are no "medium" settings. You can set the resolution and v-sync. Secondly, you should have no issues running at 720p and probably would be fine at 1080p as the PC version has some fairly low system requirements. If you want a concrete answer, I can try it on my Surface Pro 3 sometime but it'll be a day or so.

A freaking great zombie game. Enjoy it for what it is, folks.

Still haven't beat the Wii U version (lost all my best loot and the zombie that has my stuff has a bunch of friends with him) but seeing this thread is making me want to pop it in again.

I find it funny people are complaining about the brightness on the PS4/X1 versions.

I'm playing the X1 version and shit is dark son. Damn dark. Dark enough I can barely see without the flashlight, and as soon as I click it off, boom, pitch black.

Now, I did adjust the in-game brightness to 50% from the default, but that happens in every game.

I am severely worried about battery consumption here.

I'm going into this almost completely blind. I knew nothing about this game when it was on Wii-U and only got curious when they announced a PC version.

As someone that's put over a 100 hours into Dying Light, what would this game have to offer me? I've played a little bit and the combat seems rather lackluster compared to Dying Light.

Is this more a hardcore survival game, where combat is SUPPOSED to be avoided? If that's the case, then I'm cool with that. However, if I'm going to be expected to swing weapons through 90% of this thing, I don't think I'm going to have any fun with this system.

What? I haven't played my Wii Ucopy in awhile, but I find it hard to believe that they would remove an offline only multiplayer mode.

I'm taking the piss seeing as people are acting like it doesn't exist any more. It's still in the Wii U version.

Yes, it's more of a hardcore survival game. You should be avoiding combat except when it's unavoidable (and there are times when it is). It's almost nothing like Dying Light. It has more in common with a first person RE1/2/3.

It kind of depends. If you get the timing down its very possible to melee most of the enemies in the game. Slow, tedious - but possible. Its generally preferable to sneak or avoid.

Im talking about gameplay features that were taken out. Also the lens filter is gone in this version. It just takes away from the atmosphere. You can add more resolution and framerate but it still doesnt change what it originally is. Some might prefer the no lens filter but to each their own.

I do agree if you going to by a version that isnt the Wii U version, PC version is the way to go. PS4/XB1 versions are just bad ports.

Not by much but I was referring to the lens filter which is completely missing on the PS4 version.

I'll say that the lens effect should be there (with the option to turn it off, since some people feel it's too much), but considering you can add the effect with ReShade, it's pretty much a non issue on PC.

It's a great game, nice to see they bring it to PS4 xbone but sad Nintendo screw the WiiU and my hope foor a Zombie U 2 died every year since the console was released.

Still think the real deal is the original WiiU game for the way it was released , it was my most expected game for WiiU that even I got the WiiU bundle with the game for the box art.

Best use of gamepad ever.

Options are always better, but I'm not sure the PS4/Xbone players are missing out on too much....

You guys are starting to sound like developers annoyed your game was ported over with certain features missing.

I'm glad it's on other consoles, now everyone can experience it. If looking away from a TV screen is the number one feature that makes the game stand out, I'm not so sure that's innovative. But the game itself sounds like a great time regardless, which I'm happy to hear.

Combat is not always advised, it's the sort of game where supplies are supposed to be low, not a complete open-world, the zombies are actually supposed to be a threat, when you die, that character is dead for good, purposeful stint to how they do combat, different characters have different athletic, combat, survival abilities, if you die you lose all of your supplies unless you find and take out your previous characters 'zombie'.

So, you think a stale and ultra clean look is more immersive for this type of game?

I don't think that look is immersive for ANY type of game. Wipe your damn eyes already!

But the grunginess shouldn't come from obscuring your vision, it should come from the world actually being, well, grungy.

- Not able to loot dead Friends.
- Not able to leave messages to Friends.
- Unable to see your own shadow (lol).
- Unable to be truly immersed (no Gamepad, way too much brightness)
- Terrible UI
- Missing visual effects (Texture Filtering, Filters, shadows and detail on various objects and Zombis.

You sure about that Oprah?

Did you see that Comparison video? You acting like the higher resolution and frame rate is light years ahead of something. lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keOOGWmooPc&feature=youtu.be

Seriously dude the difference is laughable.

lol that's a load of rubbish. the pc version is waaaaaay better than the wiiu one. i can't comment on xbo or ps4 as i've not played those. even in that comparison video the new one looks better. it's one thing for people to have different opinions but it just seems you're doing it on purpose now.

Yes, you're right. The game sounds like a fantastic port. All those problems are totally acceptable, I don't know what I was thinking. With you being the only person in the world that we've seen with this strange occurrence, we will just chalk to up to a faulty Xbox. Thanks for saving me $20!

Lol -- the person you are responding to who actually -HAD- the issues said they were extremely minor and no big deal... yet you're acting like the issues he experienced are game breaking and you're actually arguing with him over it! He's the one that experienced them, not you!

Wowsers. So transparent.

Survival horror games depend on immersion and removing one of the key features that make the game immersive hinders the experience. I'm double dipping on it (Wii U/PC) because I loved the core game but if I had any way of playing the PC version with the Gamepad, I would because that's the best way to play it.

It's like playing Rayman Legends on Wii U vs PS4/Xbone. Sure, you don't need the gamepad but you're missing some of the fun without it.

Actually Im happy this is getting ported. Im hoping this can lead to a true sequel with a real budget. We all know Zombi U never got the time and budget it should of gotten.

Zombi U is a great game and its awesome that others will get to experience this gem. There are missing features to this version that takes away from this port. In the end, lets just hope for a true sequel.

I already started that the PC version is the way to go if you arent getting the Wii U version in another post.

I agree with the survival horror immersion. I guess what I mean is that one feature shouldn't be the main reason the game is dismissed outright, as it has been a few times in the thread. If the feature makes or breaks the game, absolutely it should be important, but from what I know or have seen, the game isn't broken by the exclusion of the gamepad. Maybe it takes away from the immersion like you mentioned, that I can definitely understand, but I hope that the game can stand on its own without that.

I hope it does get to see a sequel because of the new versions, too. There have been quite a few who have been wanting to play but didn't want to take the Wii U plunge to play it, so hopefully now that it's here and at a very good price we see some great sales.
