Ok fixed

also reading that, I just realized the Samus costume DLC unlocks the helmet automatically if you don't have it.

Uh... thanks Sakurai?

Also
Try not to get too carried away, especially not by that tornad...

These are the only press shots of the costumes. They didn't really advertise this DLC very much.
Okay, I assumed as much... Weird. =/

Well, in that case, has anyone here happened to have seen this particular Mii used for the Flying Man outfit in another screenshot without the outfit?

CLJOhtbUMAEx59L.jpg

I'm fairly certain that it's one of those stock Miis much like the one used for the King K. Rool outfit, and I swear I've seen it before somewhere else, but I've combed through screenshots and I can't find it. I'd just like to know which hairstyle I should use for it, lol. (I know the hair ultimately doesn't matter because it can't normally be seen—except on Kirby's headband if he copies the Mii Fighter—but since I'm pretty sure this is a stock Mii I'd like to make sure it's exact, plus it could always be used again for another outfit's render as well.)

Oh man that set is so amazing.

Like, if that were printed and a real set I'd buy it just cause it looks so darn good. That Viridi one is a nice touch.

Absolutely gorgeous. The Wii Fit Trainers are probably my favorite.

You can actually buy them!

Not officially on sale, but soon. $70 a set, though, which is a BIT too rich for my blood.

Hmm...I wonder if I should save my money for the cards for whenever Quas-Quas does the remaining DLC characters (if they end up being made, anyway).

It's kind of funny to think think that, if circumstances were different, and Krystal got into Brawl, that she might not have completely disappeared from the series in Zero. Smash has an unusually strong hold on the public perception of the Star Fox series.

I thought about that, too.

how lucky we are

But I like Dry Bones.

Atleast re-add him into Mario Kart. :(

dry bones will never be playable......................

that's my headcanon damn it!

The natural order of the GAFverse as we know it has crumbled.

I know it's been less than a month since the last DLC, but I'm getting antsy for DLC news :(

It's a little unsettling to have nothing.

Today also marks the one year anniversary of the ESRB leak.

One year ago, almost to the hour, on 4Chan

Reasons the leak was fake

- It lacked Ridley, K. Rool, Dixie, Chorus Kids, etc
- It was arranged really poorly, with Yoshi way out of place and the clones floating in nowhere land, while Shulk was a third party.
- The video of Shulk was a modded Ike, clearly, while Shulk's face was just a photoshopped Little Mac
- Doctor Mario was based on existing Fan Art that was awful and looked nothing like the Smash Art, but IT WAS TOTALLY THE SAME ART, SO FAKE
- Doctor Mario is making a frowny face, and Doctor Mario doesn't make frowny faces in official art, ever, no exceptions, must be fake.
- Clearly, the stages appearing with new art in Famitsu just meant the leaker managed to get Famitsu a week earlier than the people who get it a week early, which totally happens all the time.
- This dude on 4Chan confirmed he made the Duck Hunt art, see look, it's not off or janky looking at all!
- Bowser Jr's footage is just a Brawl Mod. Look at Project M. People can make really convincing character mods!
- There's a random line in that one spot that means ITS FAKE. Wait... a demo had the same glitch? NO STILL FAKE, the leaker just has eyes like a hawk and noticed an insignificant graphical bug on blurry demo footage nobody really cared about until today.
- Fox's background color doesn't match Smashbros.com!
- Pikmin, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Metroid and Star Fox can't only have retro stages as their only stages!
- Ice Climbers and Rhythm Heaven have Smash Run enemies. No non-playable series has a Smash Run enemy!

Things that were obviously true based on the leak
- Miis can only be used when customs are on! This was CONFIRMED BY SAKURAI/NINTENDO/E3/SOMEWHERE. Except it wasn't.
- Mewtwo, Snake, Ice Climbers, Lucas and Impa are going to be DLC for hooking up the 3DS to the Wii U version. Except they aren't (well, Mewtwo kind of was, but that was a coincidence).
- The Palutena "leak" was true! Except it wasn't.

Things that were weird
- The stage order made no sense at all and was changed before release to actually make sense.
- A Tharja trophy was cut for obvious reasons.
- The leak had Mewtwo with a "?" and he was confirmed a month and a half later as the first DLC character, which was suspicious to me.
- Ice Climbers were cut really late. This explains the Smash Run enemy stuff, which was honestly probably the only real oddity of the leak, and something from the leak I personally found off with it. But I was quickly swayed once the bigger images came out and I saw Duck Hunt's art. That art was just absolutely perfect and not something anyone would ever just make up.

I think as soon as I saw the Dr. Mario art I knew in my heart that the leak was real. Like, it's one thing to make a convincing looking new character or stage, but it was another to match Smash's Mario's face that perfectly. I saw Dr. Mario's face, and I immediately saw Smash Mario. I held out stating as such as I kind of wanted it to be fake, but I knew.

Quas-Quas finally completed his Tarot Card artwork recently. He will add newcomers in the future whenever we get the confirmation.
All Smash Bros. characters and bosses...and Viridi.

Don't forget that madness about how the stripes on Ness' shirt have always been in one pattern, and his Smash art didn't match.

*Sigh* Just look at how far we've come!

So some Japanese dude was doing an AMA about how Japense people view Nintendo, and someone asked about the ballot
https://nm.reddit.com/r/nintendo/comments/3hmies/im_japanese_do_you_have_any_question_about/cu8r0dc

So it looks like the rumor that the Japanese like vets more than new comers is probably true.

I actually don't like Smash 4's Doc art. It seems kind of stiff and he's holding the pill a little weird. Also his tie is too neat and it's inconsistent with his in game model.

I wasn't really sure what to make of the leak until the Tomodachi Life room pics in that week's Famitsu matched the rooms in the stage selection or something like that. Too much of a coincidence.

In retrospect, it's kinda embarrassing I didn't hop on the train earlier, but oh well.

It's funny: the leak pictures popped up on my Timehop this morning (I immediately saved them to my phone for fear of Nintendo taking them down), and I was hit with a rush of nostalgia. #TeamReal for life!

I usually don't fix other people's comment but I just did because I wonder if it is really worth to give up a good job for 15 minutes of fame.

Well, I didn't believe it at first because I was in denial. It's all because of several characters I really want to see finally made in the game. Bowser Jr, Duck Hunt, Dark Pit, Shulk, Dr. Mario, etc.

Eh, she physically shows up in the Reset Bomb Forest stage and (sort of) attacks you with a Reset Bomb on the 3DS, not to mention her appearances in the Wii U Goddess conversations. Seems fair enough.

Project M Wario is my favorite thing in that whole mod, next to type 3 stamina.

I didn't even know Type 3 Stamina was a thing; this is glorious!

But yeah, Project M Wario's fantastic, and I think that their version of him is just as big as them bringing back Mewtwo and Roy into Brawl out of scratch/making Pokemon Trainer's Mons their own characters! No offense to Sakurai's Wario, which is still fantastic and fun to play as (Especially with Fast/Floaty modifiers...), but PM Wario plays closer to how I'd expect him to play. That Shoulder Barge alone makes a world of difference, IMO.

Eh. I'll ride that #TeamFake train into the hereafter.

Maturity, bitches.
The worst thing about the Mac trace "evidence" is that it didn't even explain anything. OK, so they "traced the face", what about the rest of it?

The point of photoshopping a counter is to show how it can be done fully. Not some half cocked theory that trips over the moment it comes out of the gate.

I thought the Ness shirt reasoning was pretty good point since it was the kind of thing someone making their own mock up would miss and Sakurai can be a stickler for details, but once the evidence came in and even I struggled to produce counters to explain things I just stuck on #TeamFake for the fun of it since just being accepting of things is the boring route.

(I probably shouldn't have called it so early when all we has seen was blurry Wario which resulted in me making my own blurry small Wario roster square in two minutes to show how easy that was).

Weird was people disputing the video evidence though. That was pretty clear cut.

Shame the ESRB leaker was never shamed publicly though.

The leaker was a friend (or a friend of a friend, this stuff spread really fast in some circles to the point where it was hard to track) of the ESRB employee.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe

Ah so it is still the fault of the ESRB employee if he told it to a friend.

I still remember how my main doubt regarding the leak was the flavourless black background bits on the character and stage select, may man Sakurai doesn't do menus without a bazillion things whirring away in the background or at least a dash of colour.
Except this time of course.

To be fair you are still correct... for the Wii U version.

That was less doubt and more hope that the E3 selection screen style wasn't final.

Bit like with that recent Dr Mario leak, while I doubted it in the back of my mind, I did want it to be true because of the music.

Speaking of leaks.

How absolutely hyped are we going to be next time we see the flaming slash marks of the Smash logo?

We know literally nothing. We don't even have a time frame when the next DLC will be released or announced or anything.

Even if it's just Wolf, not knowing anything will make the reveal really hype. Like the Lucas reveal, which was an emotional experience for the Smash community.

A part of me wonders if that will happen again. The odd thing right now is that Nintendo is fairly silent on things. Everything is getting announced through images, rather than a direct that gets hyped up. Marketing is really focused on SMM, and is allowing others to really push this game.

I think it would be interesting if we got a Mario Maker character that could use costumes and change into other characters. Smash only really has Kirby in that place.

Once SMM is out, we'll see the Star Fox engine start moving and that's the perfect time for Wolf.
And hopefully Sector Z

Also the one year anniversary is coming soon, so I'd expect some kind of DLC or freebie for that as well.

Unless somebody involved with the reveal spoils it (again). :p

For Ryu/Roy/Dreamland, Nintendo only has themselves to blame for that one.

Very. Like you said, we know nothing about future DLC. I feel like the leaks spoiled me because I've missed some of the hype the last leak brought. It doesn't matter because going in blind is way more hype than knowing about what were gonna get.

So the leaks Smash 4 has had

- Pre reveal E3 2013, 4 characters are leaked, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager and Little Mac. The first three are revealed the next day.
- Skip ahead to December 2013. Nintendo of Brazil accidentally uploads the Direct early, leading to Rosalina and Luma being leaked about an hour early.
- Little Mac is revealed, who had been leaked the previous year.
- "Pokemon from X/Y", Shulk, Mii, Chrom, Pac Man, Chorus Men and Palutena are leaked. All but two are revealed, with evidence Chrom and CM were planned at some point.
- A few weeks later, Greninja is revealed, confirming the previous leak.
- A text leak comes out stating Duck Hunt, Dark Pit and Bowser Jr are in, Alph is a costume, Doc is returning and Ice Climbers are cut. He backs this up describing costumes for Bowser.
- E3 2014, Mii, Palutena and Pac Man are revealed. One of the alts leaked for Bowser is confirmed. Mr Game and Watch is also soft confirmed and Dark Pit is teased.
- E3 2014 3DS Tournament: JC from Treehouse stops himself mid sentence from talking about Falco
- August 2014: Robin and Lucina are revealed, shattering the previous leaks' credibility (until later when we found out the two wrong characters he mentioned were cut at some point)
- Sakurai later mentions in Famitsu that Chrom was considered but was too similar to Marth and Ike.
- August: Metaknight is revealed as the last pre-release vet.
- August 19, 2014: The entire roster and stage list from the 3DS version is leaked with video and plenty of images from a worker at ESRB. The Smash speculation world is driven mad with this information overload.
- Late August: Shulk is officially revealed, with his art matching the ESRB leak. It's 100% confirmed.
- September: Nintendo accidentally puts Ganondorf in an advertisement before he was officially revealed and quickly pull the ad. Sakurai had joked about Ganondorf being in before, so it's not like they even needed to...
- At a demo in Japan, Alph is confirmed as an alt of Olimar.
- The next day Sakurai remembers he forgot to show Alph and puts him out there. "Here's Alph, he exists, totally forgot to show him before"
- September: The game is released in Japan. A Twitch user gets a copy 2 days early and leaks everything. He is terrible at the game. He takes 4 tries to unlock Doctor Mario.
- The 3DS is datamined, finding a Wrecking Crew stage, a Miiverse stage, Master/Crazy orders, Smash Tour and 8 Player Smash. The 3DS having sloppy data cleanup will be a re-occurring problem. Also Ice Climbers and Rhythm Heaven icons under the character list.
- "Tower of Smash" gets a couple of stage choices right and sounds somewhat believable.
- October: Nintendo of Europe thinks Great Cave Offensive was revealed, shows an image of it with no explanation. This destroys the Tower of Smash "leak" which had previously gotten information right.
- Amazon accidentally lists the Stage Builder and Master/Crazy Orders as features.
- October: 50 facts revealed, Ridley officially deconfirmed once and for all, Mewtwo confirmed as first DLC character. Etika is now a meme.
- Some Pokemon guy on Youtube gets a review copy of Smash 4 and accidentally shows Flat Zone X, which he quickly pulls.
- Some other guy just doesn't care about NDAs and reveals the entire stage list and tons of other black listed content.
- Smash for Wii U is released and the leaks stop. Miiverse' music and Tournament Mode's music are left on the disc.
- Lucas is revealed and it's legitimately a surprise.
- The leaks don't stop for long. When Mewtwo is released Nintendo messes up completely and leaves Ryu, Roy and Dreamland on the 3DS' files. Dreamland was so bad, it actually broke classic mode for Kirby characters. Jesus.
- Nintendo again fails horribly with patch data and puts the Wii U data up a day early. The entire of the next day's content is 100% revealed and E3 hype is deflated.
- The latest DLC releases at the end of July with no hitches or leaks. Although it was revealed on Twitter which was kind of stupid.

What a wild ride.

And here we are, for the first time since the game's initial reveal in 2013, without any clue as to what content is yet to come, other than knowing there is more.

Something I was just thinking about regarding Dreamland 64 in the 3DS version--the original datamine for it had Forest Stage listed as a presumed alternate track, but in the actual release, it's Ice Cream Island, the one remix, just like for the other two retro stages. So I wonder if that means a new remix was a late decision, or if it was just placeholder like Ryu's victory theme.

Amazon also leaked "a game board mode" which of course was Smash Tour.

The NoE Great Cave Offensive image is still rather weird. It could have also been seen as a tease since it didn't really reveal much, even hinting there was a surprise to the stage (which would be that 100% KO gimmick) and the fact there was then never a PotD for that stage.

One could also mention the mysterious Polar Bear PotD that went up early only to be withdrawn and replaced by something else entirely. This would be a red herring for Ice Climber supporters. There was also the Sneaky Spirits seen briefly at E3 making the rumour of Chorus Kids more credible until that rumour was completely Falcon Punch'd on one of the greatest days.

We should have seen things were looking grim when the Polar Bear image was pulled. I remember people (like myself) saying the Polar Bear actually confirmed Ice Climbers, rather than the image being pulled actually implying they were cut. Which it probably was, which is why it was pulled.

He didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. I think they planned reveals a few weeks early, and maybe Ice Climbers had just been officially cut and they forgot that image was in the pipeline.

I'm starting to get worried that Nintendo's gonna lose all the momentum that they built up from April to June as far as Smash 4 DLC goes.

We didn't have any new contwnt from December to April. It's only been two months since the E3 update, and one since we got new stages. Chill.

We actually had a few patches between December to April. A few bug fixes, some balance, sharing on the 3DS, and new 8 Player stages.

Was it? I thought it was in Portuguese.
I never play 8 player smash, so I couldn't tell. Those stages were already in the game though, they just had to be optimised.
