Oh, wow. I still have this coupon. Didn't realise it dropped. At $10, it's tempting. May buy and then give it away at that price.

E: All that Tell Tale stuff. Oh boy. I have to buy now. I still haven't played Ep 2 onward for GoT, and own none of the others.

Yep! $10 for a full Borderlands game, no matter how recycled it feels, isn't bad at all.

Got GoT + TftB + JP + Poker night 1&2 for 14. A damn fine price.

Game of thrones isnt worth downloading if you never watched more than the first season of the series, right?

MOBA is nebulous though. Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, litterally means nothing and it really doesn't require what you listed. You are just conditioned for it to mean games like Dota or League. For peat sake you had Eurogamer call Splatoon a Moba, and at the time I laughed but, the term MOBA really can be a part of that. Heck Call of Duty and old Arena shooters are also Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas. I guess the more modern definition of it is the stuff you listed though. I still don't agree with the use of the word most of the time but, you are right. It does work for Gigantic. I just think it has a certain stigma attached to it so certain people that may like it might be driven away.

i mean, are they really strategy games? like u only control one character in league or maybe like 10 or 12 units (sometimes) in doto but that's about it, you do mostly second-to-second stuff that's usually closer to arpgs and action games cos you have to aim, dodge, time and collaborate much more than strategize

Okay fair point. I was mainly thinking about movement in those games. As you right click to move and you have to keep clicking to move usually. Not to mention the UI, that's more of the fact that Dota started off as an RTS game mod though. That said Gigantic is controlled using WASD, the camera is behind the character and you have to move and aim like a third person shooter. I just see them as 2 different things.

Short, but very funny and cute. It got the dating sim gameplay with managing your day, balancing school, work, hobbies and friends, without the dating aspect. You're jsut a happy go lucky girl that wants to save her club and befriends people.

Hm, I might have to check it out then!

Oh no, paid mod discussion reared its ugly head again over in gaming. Last time this came about, everyone just fucking hated one another.

i'm gonna assume Poker night 2 is better?

There's a few improvements to the mechanics, but I feel like your level of enjoyment will depend greatly on which game has the personalities you prefer more. The biggest change between 1 and 2 is more dynamic interactions and environments. Characters are a bit more aware of each other, and sequences play out with much more dramatic flair. In Poker Night 1, conversations are a bit more subdued in the action on screen.

The playroom can also be changed completely in Poker Night 2, whereas in 1, the most customization you could do was change the card deck and play tables' themes.

Can't we just agree that yes, the people who fix Bethesda's games ought to be compensated, but no, making paid mods means the Steam Workshop is going to be so bloated with shit that you'll think you were browsing a mobile app store?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
The only Telltale game I'm missing on Steam is Game of Thrones and
despite my Momoa man-crush
I've never even seen a full episode of the show.

But Tales From the Borderlands is great and everyone should buy it, even if you don't like Borderlands games.

But Tales From the Borderlands is great and everyone should buy it, even if you don't like Borderlands games.

Momoa's presence is the only thing that's kept me interested in GoT for all these years.

And, no, you guys, don't you dare. GoT's games aren't that bad all things considered.

Anime ruins everything it touches.

Bunch of dicks! Urgh I guess it will be a better game for it *hmph*.

At least AC can hold my attention with the setting and the amount of craftsmanship that went into the world. Everything else is sometimes hit or miss, but still.

Mordor kinda fell apart for me after the Nemesis system lost its lustre (you get too strong and everyone is chump change, even your nemeses), and the world is rather dull (yes, both of them) and there's not really much engaging side content.

You could sorta make the same argument for Just Cause 2 but that game is beautiful enough it makes up for being mostly repetitive, but at least that gameplay loop was fun enough that I just loaded it up whenever I had a backlog of podcasts, and just fucked around or went collectible hunting.

Mad Max looks like Shadow of Mordor to me, IMO. Open world looks really dull - I get it's part of the appeal - but no thanks. Melee combat looks interesting but I don't think it's enough to trick me into getting it like the Nemesis system did.

On paper the Nemisis system is brilliant but in practice it really falls quite flat. As we know the game itself is pathetically easy that mashing could be considered a strategy but the Nemisis system thrives on you beating defeated, it's how the Captains are meant to rank up. So if you want to make the game at least somewhat challenging you've got to look at the line up your offered and plan to get killed by a few of them so they can level up and get some of their weaknesses removed but even still then to really have the potential to play the board game you need all the ability unlocks which require a bit of progress in the game. But that requires killing a bunch of Captains and a Warchief so you've cleared a fifth of the board and probably without too much difficulty. So it's almost a couple of hours wasted going back and forth dying on purpose, completing the story missions, resting to get captains you've killed to respawn, making sure not to decap some others so you can alter their strengths and weaknesses etc just to create some sense of challenge. And then when you get on to the second map the whole thing resets. Also by this time you've got most of the moves and can pretty much take on a group of 30 at any one given time without bother that combat becomes a chore rather than enjoyable.

I'm sure a few tweaks under the hood to make things more difficult, both in damage output and received as well as more varied and opposing strengths and weaknesses for the Captains to mix things up could lift it up somewhat. Maybe have a system that learns from your playstyle. Nothing too complicated but keep track of what weapons and/or powers you use the most, what moves you like to use, powers you combine and spawn in captains that are strong against them so you have to change your strategy and not do the same thing over and over again (needs careful balance though but some fucker will complain regardless). But I guess that's for the sequel!

New Cuphead gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgkQKqp9pwE

My PC is here ^-^. GTX 970, 8GB RAM, i5-4690k, all OverClocked , water cooling... :D

Aka the PC that MGSV keys built. :p

Stealth Inc 2 Free (includes Steam key)

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/stealthinc2_agameofclones_freegame

Has it even been on sale?

Awesome, spares me having to decide sooner or later if I want to buy it cheap again despite 'owning' it already through PS+.

Nice giveaway, Super Inframan...too bad we can't need roll and greed roll on those. "I really want these two awesome games...this lesser known game might be cool, but nobody else might enter for that one..."

Processor and GPU OverClocked, gotta play it safe! Really silent as well, which is a big plus :)

GPU cooling is much more efficient under water, especially for SLI, on top of being significantly quieter.

I didn't know it made things quieter as well. Never had water cooling. I just watch my temps hard and make sure its well ventilated. Then again I don't OC my CPU so that might be why.

Fixed the clean Win 10 install!

- physically took out the other hard drives
- unplugged from ethernet / took out wifi antenna (no internet okay?)
- format and partition C drive via a live linux distro (hiren cd)
- before installing loading the AMD AHCP driver (general) from USB key
- once finally got to the desktop (again), installed chipset AND usb drivers, checking drivers for every item in the device manager
- once a bit of testing (no more BSOD), installed nvidia driver and put back the others hdds
- reboot again, then back to internet for updates

Only downside, sice I had to take a few shots to understand what was killing each installation, that probably put my product key on hold; contacted microsoft and very kindly they asked me to wait at least 2/3 days (I suppose work days, so I won't hassle them on Monday wondering why it's still not activated).

Yay! Now back to the reinstalling game!

Maybe I'm late, but there's Stasis on Nuuvem! If you're into point & click adventures with superb atmosphere, you should at least check it out :)

It doesn't necessarily since the pump makes noise and the heat has to go somewhere. Air cooling has become extremely efficient so water cooling isn't very useful in most scenarios.

Fuck. With all the graphical enhancements of recent years, your tessellations and chromatic abortions and whatnot, its fucking Cuphead of all things that has really blown me away with how good it looks.

Well Cuphead has CA in spades.

I agree with most of your examples but honestly you don't roleplay in most roleplaying games.
you could like turn it around then. do you roleplay in every rpg? like mmorpgs? do you really roleplay in skyrim? or final fantasy? or whatever

if u sit and think none of the genres are like perfect fits, but that doesn't mean there isn't a use for them

if i'm talking to my friend and i want to explain a game to her i'm like, "well, it's a rpg, i dunno if you played old squaresoft ps1 games but it's sort of like that. yeah with turn based combat. yeah like ff7 and xenogears and stuff". that's how a conversation usually goes, and starting from genre is useful for me and when someone showed me awesomenauts and was like well it's like a sidescrolly shooter moba and i booted it up and saw there were turrets and minions and champions i was like, sure i get what this is

so yeah, don't assign too much value to them, but they're useful

like review scores

I just think it has a certain stigma attached to it so certain people that may like it might be driven away.
i mean, it's a word, words change with time and they might not make all that much sense anymore but it's not really a big deal to be annoyed about. yeah, the term's stupid, but who cares

the stigma thing is also an interesting thing to discuss cos like for understandable reasons ppl are turned off mobas (huge barrier of entry, shitty communities, insane time sinks), but u know, at the same time the genre (or at least league) is insanely popular so obviously there's something to it that shouldn't be so easily dismissed

i think the stigma is more up to moba makers to be more inviting and fix up their shitty tutorials (actually doto's reborn tutorial was pretty decent, at worst a bit too slow for me, at least coming from league) and clean up their communities

but the word is useful, u say moba and u mean the things i listed above and that gives you a rough idea of what you're getting into, even if the word is dumb

I just see them as 2 different things.
i mean, diablo works like that and u wouldn't call diablo an rts would u :>

also i think smite is also controlled with wasd keys, as is awesomenauts

in any case, they're more like action rpgs with strategy elements, something like that. mobas take elements from a billion genres which is part of what makes them so cool

My full review of Fran Bow.

Fran Bow Steam Store Page

Fran Bow is the story of the game's titular little girl who, at the start of the game, experiences the death of her parents and is stuffed away into a mental institution. Fran is determined to get out of the loony bin and meet up with her cat, Mr. Midnight, who she is convinced will help guide her and form a new life with her beloved Aunt Grace. However, some form of shadowy demon warns her to stay in the mad house, for if she leaves he will hunt her down, and do worse things than she could ever imagine. The game's got clever writing, interesting characters (with Fran Bow's childish yet twisted thought-process and approach to things stealing the show), mixed with interesting imagery, thoughtful but not entirely too difficult puzzles, a gripping story with themes of psychological horror, satanism, and cult behaviors, the twistedness of children, and real horror ranging from pedophilia to the history of mental care.

Fairly early in the game you get a jar of pills, which lets you switch at anytime between the 'real' world, and a twisted gorey world full of shadow monsters. Sometimes switching between these worlds provides interesting symbolism and visual imagery, but at other moments it can be crucial to progress. As the game goes on, it becomes questionable if this other world is truly just a hallucination, as things done in one world seem to effect the other.

ss_bcdd843d50cea0d8f6ba4d1eb9b1a4006a2dbc9a.600x338.jpg

Depending on how much you take to exploring and getting through puzzles, I'd estimate the game at around 7-12 hours long. They switch up locales and some gameplay stuff enough to keep things interesting, between the 5 chapters you visit 7 different 'main' locales, and four of those locations have two different versions of the location to travel between (and the fifth one has four different versions of itself). In-between main locations, there are often some optional mini-games, which you can skip if you wish but I found most to be a joy. Minor spoiler, but my personal favorite of the mini-games being a nicely timed Frogger reference,

Music is worth mentioning, it is very stylistic with some tracks sticking out, with some melodic tones and synth sounds mixed in. There's no voice acting, but the ambiance sounds are good and captivating. Presentation also gets high marks for some nice animation, visual flair, detail, and some stylization in certain scenes (like the storybook maze scene).

ss_987bf12caa85a82380293c2036c828bf42fdeec7.600x338.jpg

High recommendation if you want a twisted point'n'click. The game isn't scare-your-pants-off terrifying, but there were a few scenes that made me jump, a few kind of chilling and disturbing moments, a sort of grotesque fairy tale feel that resonates most of the game. While I think reflecting I might like the first half of the game a bit more than the second half, it's a fairly paced title worth playing through to the end, and can be an absolutely engrossing experience. Lead by interesting characters is a bit less interesting but still engaging story, excellent writing, great presentation style and audio, and capturing the perfect tone of a twisted little girl's mind in a just as, if not more, twisted horrific world. Fran Bow will most certainly become one of the greats in horror point'n'clicks, it's not perfect and without saying too much, while not an abrupt ending it kind of feels like a sequel hook, but it is entirely worth playing and is a macabre little girl's journey that's twist, turns, and cross-world traveling is more than worth experiencing.
