Sound design is brilliant, but the maps so far look too sterile. Would love to see a MP map set in a snow environment.

That is some fine journo gameplay there, yup.

^ Not a beta map...not even close to any of the layouts from the beta.

The aesthetics though, im really not crazy about it. I could have sworn it was one of the beta maps.

Edit: other than that one Warzone map we saw, these maps are all kinda looking the same. Im kinda disappointed.

Edit2: Why not do one map in a forest, one on a snowy mountain, one in a desert area, why are all these maps looking the same?

The materials also look much better now, when he looks at metal sheets it looks like metal, and glass looks properly stained and scratched. Much better than earlier showings when everything looked like it was made from same matte plastic.

>Switches Pistol for Storm Rifle
No, wait what are you
>Starts trying to exchange crossmap fire with Storm Rifle
Oh noooooooooo

I saw this in warzone footage too. The pistol must be hard to use or something.

I'll never understand the need for the callouts, there's plenty audio info from hearing footsteps, gunfire and explosions, you have a radar, and it pretty much tells you exactly what part of the map youre on. I guess its for immersion purposes.

It's great for when you're playing alone and your teammates refuse to speak. One of the best additions to the game.

I believe there's an option to turn off teammate chatter if you don't like it

Nah. Having automated callouts is crazy useful, especially these days when you'll never hear a single voice in MM if you don't have a party.

This too.

Honestly, I'm not really into the aesthetic look and new sound effects, but watch that guy play Warzone and knowing how to play the game was pretty entertaining to watch. I'd give this a go whenever I get an XB1.

The aesthetics are starting to get on my nerves tbh. One map fine, 2 maps ok fine. But man, every map ive seen has this same aesthetic look to it. I mean Jesus Christ. No one notices these things over there?

Are you talking about the forerunner and UNSC structures?

Eden and Fathom have a dark tone to them and but that's about it. The architecture looks similar for a reason.

I dunno what it is exactly, and i ive said this before in other threads but this warrants repeating because every new map i see, i feel like im seeing a different part of one same big map. I mean in every Halo game i played, i never felt like the maps had aesthetic problems. Even if they had covenant pieces in them. These maps just all look industrial, futuristic. Thats it. Map 1, industrial futuristic, map 2 industrial futuristic on a different layout, map 3 industrial futuristic but again, on a different layout. I mean, wheres the creativity?

No, the solid color matte boxes that make up everything. Like come on 343, it's the age of PBR, throw some variety in there.

That's just futuristic UNSC style/design. Those boxes are supposed to be payloads, I think, or at least that's how I always thought of them.

Yea, I guess it's just one of those things you either like or dislike. From the maps I have seen, I like this futuristic UNSC style, but I can see how it could get boring to some.

I like it, but every map? I dont like anything that much. And theres gonna be what, 20-25 maps, like this??

Edit: Part of what made Halo great was not only the gameplay, but the MP map design. Lockout, Zanzibar, Blood Gultch, Ascension, etc.. They all looked different and were memorable. If you have boring maps, youll have people who will move on quickly to other games.

I'm a bit nit picky on the look of the weapons and enemy designs and it's been this way since I saw Halo 4. I can respect that 343 wants to make their own signature look, but I really do prefer the look of everything done from Halo: CE to Reach.

The chatter sounds uninspired. Really gets to me after a while. Game looks fun enough, though I'd like to see some other maps. And is 4v4 the norm? BTB not being at launch, really hurts my interest in the MP. Probably no way they can run 60fps with more than 12 characters at once.

*edit: After reading everyone comments, I guess this is a map I've not seen before, lol. Wow, they really all do look incredibly similar.

I could do with more nature maps, bit fathom looks pretty different from what we played in the beta.

Warzone is 12v12

I think that KZ SF has managed to combine futuristic structures with some natural elements like foliage, marbles, etc.
Case in point:

Yea I agree there. At least they will have a lot some of the old maps from the older games remade for Halo 5, so all those favorites will return. Unless I am misremembering.

Truth is the only remake, and it is very different from Midship.

As Frankie said, just porting over old map layouts wouldn't work with all of the new abilities. He didn't rule out possible remakes in the future though.

It's also worth noting that 2 of the 4 beta maps were remixes reusing the same assets of the original. I mean I get the similarity complaints, but it's UNSC stuff, it should look similar to an extent. They've shown a variety of environments in arena and war zone though, so there's variety to be had.

Nice. Really adds some needed colour to otherwise plain architecture. A lot of the H5 maps I've seen just seem like the same buildings with a different coloured environment light.

Also, really wish we could see some more campaign footage.

Oh, scratch what I said, then. I remembered in that video in which they talked about Truth, they said they will remake other fan favorites, like Sandtrap and Valhalla, but I guess I misremembered.

Well thats cool, but i dont necessarily want just old maps. Id like some new classics as well and from what ive seen so far, im not seeing any. They need more weather effects, bring in snow areas, bring in rain, thunder, desert, sand storms, ocean area, i mean, be original. I dont understand how this gets approved and how no one there notices. I dont get it.

Edit: The good thing is that hopefully this can get addressed with future DLC. But i will say, if all the disk maps look like this, color me very disappointed.

Is left trigger still grenade? Maybe he thought it was ADS? ya know, like every other FPS

I've started matches by throwing grenades by mistake, it happens

I'm still not sold on Warzone. If I didn't know otherwise, I'd swear it was 4v4. I don't think I can describe it any better than "a lot going on but nothing actually happening." There's no massive invasions or vehicular assaults or epic objective rushes. It's just base camping and cross mapping, and then occasionally beating down random AI.

At this point I'm just going to assume that map isn't good.

I'm liking the addition of grenade trails and weapon outlines for dropped weapons. Definitely helps with clarity.

...that player playing is awful though.

There are objectives and bosses, I think. I think for some bosses you even need to team up with the player enemy to defeat the boss.

I've seen the bosses that will spawn on the side of the map on occasion or fly around in a Banshee but they don't appear threatening at all. They're there to pad the map, which already looks too large to begin with it. There doesn't appear to be any sense of urgency, escalation or tension until the core is exposed.

Perhaps the problem is just players being new to the mode and unable to coordinate with other people who are in the game with them. Players spend most of the footage spinning around in circles in the bases they control so I'll have to assume that it's unfamiliar for now.
