New Halo 5 Coverage! (expect spoilers)

Could you ask about catch up mechanics in Warzone? e.g, say a team is down a huge amount of points. Will people on the losing team see this and stop using all their good cards/vehicles, saving them for another game, therefor putting them back even further?

Also I just bought my very first Req pack. Pretty cool it even came with a tiny plastic man.

They could capture all of the bases and then destroy the core, I saw a game where a team was down by 500 points and almost destroyed the core and won.

He was not at an high enough elevation to do any damage to the tank. The way ground pound works now is very different from the beta. You can ground pound from any height even by jumping in the air on a flat surface. The damage that ground pound delivers is based on how high you started from. Jumping from a flat surface and ground pounding dose no damage at all.

Another Christianity reference; "Advent". Referring to preparation or the "coming" of festivities. Referral to "Enemy of my Enemy" and "Crypt" are mysterious. Otherwise I got no story related hints from this soundtrack, unlike Halo 4.

Edit: The
Warden Eternal's
music is creepy. Very good.

As I thought. The GT Reviews stuff was them basically saying they wanted classic Halo. Also the comment about not remembering the maps or anything about them comes from playing for a few hours and then making a preview video.

They talked about classic Halo and then suggested that 4v4 was not really what Halo was about. I kinda agree that Arena seems to be the E-sports push but I would rather watch matches of Warzone.

It was just a really weird interview... I mean Team Slayer and Team objective were the focal points of Halo 2 and 3, so to say 4v4 isn't want Halo is about misses me...

Halo is a lot of things to a lot of people... But 4v4 MP is what really made the franchise blow up.

One guy said something along the lines of Halo is about getting into a match and not really caring about whether or not he dies as long as he gets in a cool vehicle? WTF?

One guy said Halo isn't "tactical" which I took to mean competitive... And then said Halo is between COD and Battlefield in that regard (neither of which are Arena shooters). Again, WTF?

It's like they took the 4 employees who new least about Halo MP, and asked them how the feel about the game.

I get that they would have liked to see Vehicles on some of the 4v4 maps, as that is something that occurred on occasion... But most of the small Halo maps have been vehicle free. They even went on to list some of their favorite Halo maps, none of which had vehicles on them...

They over emphasized the lack of BTB. While it will be missed at launch, we are already aware that it will be available within a few weeks at launch...

It was just a really awkward segment, and I can't put much stock into it... Because what they consider classic halo either WILL actually in this game OR isn't actually classic Halo...

I think Halo is just different to everyone. If you ask 10 people what do you think about when i say halo, youll have 10 different answers. Halo did so many things well that everyone remembers it for different things.

SPARTAN-II’s are drilled to be clinical, efficient, and detached from the chaos of battle. Weapons are simply tools to be used and discarded as the tactical and logistical equation changes, without any sentimentality or emotion. Spartans are expected to use their extensive experience and the resources available to them through NAVSPECWARCOM to personalize their weapons only enough to maximize lethality and ergonomics, with no wasted time or materials.

At least for the first few years of the Covenant War this attitude prevailed, but it was not long before Spartans began to pay more personal attention to their wargear, making small, unapproved modifications and adding charms that reflected the idiosyncrasies of their personality and mementos dedicated to dead comrades and burning worlds. Subtle at first, these were the first signs that the horrors of the Covenant War were eroding the supposedly unbreakable indoctrination that had forged the SPARTAN-II candidates into super-soldiers who strode the battlefields of the 26th century like war-born demigods.

Oathsworn is one example of these personalized implements of death and destruction. The current Oathsworn was not the first, nor will it be the last. Many Oathsworn’s have been abandoned on various battlefields over the years, only to be rebuilt for another battle – another mission. Each one is subtly different, though the markings have remained the same for years. The words whispered while it is carefully rebuilt and tuned change each time, but not the intent.

In-game description:

Memories of loss and dreams of vengeance, sealed in steel and composites. Mythic Shotgun with increased damage, accuracy, and rate of fire. The user's movement speed is also increased while Oathsworn is equipped.

Those samples didn't do much for me, bummer. I like Locke's theme though.

"Jameson Locke" is my favorite out of all of those.

I really wanna hear that theme from the first MP trailer they did (plays towards the end when Quinn D. is talking). Probably my favorite sounding theme, also plays a bit (not all of it) in the opening cinematic.

That and lets be honest here, no one is playing Destiny cause of the gameplay. Everyone plays it for the loot drops. Thats whats addictive about the game. Take that out of the game and no one is even talking about it today.
Yep, that's why I still have fun with Halo CE even after 14 years, while Destiny bored me in a month (although I admit the loot compulsion made me play a few more weeks before I realized what a stupid waste of time that was)

Those Halo 5 OST samples are ok I guess, but nothing really stands out IMO. I miss the kind of awesome ambient music the Halo soundtracks used to have. Tracks like "Under Cover of Night" "A Walk in the Woods" "Peril" or "Pursuit of Truth" So good.

I WANTTTTTTT NOW

Looks like Halo 5 may not launch with forge. Unconfirmed though.

I wouldn't be surprised considering we've literally heard nothing about it and there's just a month left, and that big team battle is already being patched in. Its definitely not a priority at the very least.

I think the opposite is true, the fact that they've gone quiet about Forge means a big reveal is incoming. If it wasn't going to be there at launch, better to declare that and get it out of the way like the BTB announcement and split screen, rather then wait any closer to release and dampen the hype train which is getting into gear. At least, that's what I tell myself to sleep at night.

Pretty much this. No developer would hold off a bad news this late. From this point on, you only want to have good media coverage. And just yesterday I read, this is going to be the biggest Forge Evolution since it was first launched. So yeah definitely reveal within a week or so.

btw is the game gone gold or not? why they haven't said anything yet? I remember Halo 4 which released in Nov 2012. it went gold on last week of Sept.

Wait... is there going to be a Gravity Hammer?

Or are they like, Griffball? Nahhhh.

They had the Gravity Hammer in 4 for pretty much just Griffball though it makes an appearance in the campaign in the Forerunner alirn weapon armory in the last mission. I expect the same for 5.

As for Forge, we'll hear next week so I'm not too worried

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment

I think that's probably a good way to look at it. You typically do want to get the "bad news" out of the way so you can ramp up hype with nothing but good announcements. Announcing that Forge will be added later would dampen hype for some during the month of the game's release. That wouldn't make sense to me.

I'm hoping the same logic holds true to theater mode.

Didn't Josh Holmes say in a interview recently that a forge reveal is coming soon and it's the biggest improvement to forge since the original?
