Someone on reddit asked a sales rep and they said it is the new controller, but I guess we'll know for sure when we get it.

Damn, by the time I entered everything it came out of stock 
Was 1 minute too late in getting my order thru. All because I was logging in from a different ip address and had to go thru extra steps to confirm it was me and it wasnt accepting uppercase letters for me email address.
I'll just take this as a sign that I'm buying too much controllers with the steam controller and the xb1 elite.

As far as i know the 'New" controller has that adapter to let you use headphones already built into the controller , so its like a ps4 remote.
Possibly something else too but thats what interests me

Doesn't need the headset adapter. The shoulder buttons have been tweeked. Maybe some other stuff

The shoulder/bumper buttons on the "new" controller has less resistance and makes it easier to press and hold down. It was annoying playing Dark Souls where I had to hold the bumper to raise my shield and it felt like the controller is resisting my presses and makes my fingers tired. The new one are better at this.

Yeah the new bumpers are much, much better. I can't go back to the original Xbone controllers because of it.

Oh wow, im glad my order didnt go through then, I would have been pretty pissed as I dont own any Xbox One controllers.

Are you going to be doing anything about it? Isn't that technically false advertising.
So since the actual product has been changed on their site to ONLY the wireless adapter, they no longer have a "product code" for the controller and adapter combo. So they are escalating the claim now. They said I will receive a phone call within 24 hours. I'll keep you guys updated on my journey.

Thanks - I ordered two (cheap Xbone controllers!) and have now received two PC wireless adaptors without controllers. Really pissed.

They have to send us the controller too right? this is just false advertisement. Am I right? Or they can get away with it? I mean I am for sure returning it. But was hoping if consumers have a upper hand here then I will ask them to send me the controller.

In Canada, if you order something and you are shipped an obviously different thing, that is false advertising. There is also a rather stiff fine for it.
Since everyone bought the item in good faith, and Microsoft never outlined before shipping the change this is a real issue. Now if they had emailed and said "there has been an error and that is not a real item" they would have a better case. But since they just sent out the wrong item there is a problem.

Now it all depends on how they handle the situation from this point on. I can not imagine them selling all that many, I would imagine they would offer up to 2 (two) controllers for orders, but anyone that ordered 30 would be SOL. Since that would be beyond reasonable purchasing. We will need to wait and see
My order still hadn't shipped, so I called yesterday to cancel it. The rep asked for my reason for canceling, and I told him I'm hearing people only got the adapter. He checked my order, and assured me I would get both, and that those who only received the adapter mistakenly ordered just the adapter. I said I'd like to go ahead with the cancellation anyway.

I got my package and it was only the adapter, but on the pack slip is had a note with "This is a partial shipment", also the sales rep I spoke to said they are aware of the issue.
