I knew exactly what he meant. Lots of people are misinformed when it comes to how Nintendo's account system works. It's not how it used to be during the Wii era (though it still has some major issues, which I already addressed).

The problem with Nintendo's current setup is that you can only have one system active at a time per account and you have to contact Nintendo directly if you forget to transfer your ID before getting rid of a console.

It is assumed their new system will be more streamlined and user friendly.

Yeah, I had to call Nintendo before to get all my games back. I lost one of them, though, cause it's no longer on the eShop. I got it for free though.

well, i mean console-death proof backups since, as far as i know, if your console dies, your saves die with it even if they were on an external storage device.

They will, but last time the guy made me list off what games I owned. I did 4, all were right. But there was one I couldn't remember so he said since I didn't have a huge purchase history, he wasn't going to be able to do it. Thankfully, I guessed Pikmin (forgot that I got it free). I had verified the card used to purchase the games as well. I was pretty annoyed to say the least, took me a few to remember.
