Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes over Entertainment Weekly

Look at it this way, maybe: How many big adventure movies (be they sci-fi adventure, action-adventure, spy movies, etc.) don't feature the hero (or heroes) infiltrating or invading the bad guy's secret base/lair/ship?

Not a lot, really. Not to say it NEEDS to be done, but there is something to there being an identifiable location/goal at which the final confrontation will happen.

Starkiller Base isn't a Death Star. It's Death Star-ish, I guess. But so are a lot of "secret lairs" in film and storytelling.
Sure but Star Wars or rather the original trilogy has done this very similar plot before and it was old the second time they did it.
Maybe I did expected too much out of a Star Wars movie but looking at its broader universe and things like cg clone wars show, different things can be done in this framework.

The tipping point for people is a weaponized planet? Really?!

This movie is essentially reintroducing SW and while some here may be disappointed. The general movie going public is going to eat this shit up.

"JJ, that door on the Falcon doesn't look very safe."
"It's fine. Just walk through like we rehearsed."

(I'm an asshole.)

Plot isn't really that important, though. It's just the means by which you find out who the characters actually are.
Yeah, your right. I think we have both have read a basic plot summary of the movie but that obviously leaves out the character stuff. So when it comes out I'll see if it comes together for me.

I don't think it's exactly a Death Star.

Isn't it an actual planet with the ring carved out of it serving as a trench base?

Not that they couldn't destroy planets with that big circular laser thing, but it's not exactly a DS, just kind of one. :p

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
Boyega: I have a bad feeling about this.

I can't wait to find out who gets to say this. Man If I was in this movie at that initial readthrough and I saw "My Character: I've got a bad feeling about this." i'd do a victory lap.

On the Star Wars website Starkiller Base is described as:

An ice planet converted into a stronghold of the First Order and armed with a fiercely destructive new weapon capable of destroying entire star systems

This still makes me so happy. What a time to be alive. :)

Sweaty and terrified, now THAT'S the Finn I know and love. None of this confident, holding a lightsaber BS we see in that cool banner!

(I agree. I get giddy every time I see Boyega in his Star Wars getup).

Ford and Solo aren’t just good at making friends, they’re resourceful. On the second day of shooting The Force Awakens, a door from the Millennium Falcon slammed down on Ford’s leg, breaking it. While director J.J. Abrams and others tried to pry the massive chunk of metal off the wounded actor, Ford started thinking ahead. “I knew that my leg was likely broken, and I didn’t know what other injuries there were,” he says. “I was mostly concerned about the long ambulance ride to London.” The accident happened at Pinewood Studios, about 20 miles outside the city. “I asked them to bring my cell phone over.”

While Abrams strained his back trying to move the door, Ford called his buddy from the park with the air ambulance. He arranged his own medevac to the hospital. Darth Vader might call that… destiny. “Pretty much is, yeah,” Ford says.
Okay, that is awesome.

Fear not, though. Solo hasn’t grown that much. He seems to still have money issues, for starters. “We spend a lot more time [in the movie] on his failure to master basic skills, like accounting,” Ford says, rubbing his thumb and forefinger together. “And accounting for his own behavior. There’s a lot of the rogue still left in Solo. Some things don’t change.”

That's what I like to hear. If they can nail the character of a more experienced Han Solo, we're in for a treat.

I haven't followed the advertising campaign very closely, whats the reason Luke is totally left out? Wasn't he confirmed to be in the movie?

If he is in the movie and not on any of the ads it kinda makes it seem hes a side character or dies really early?

He is in the film but they want to keep his first appearance under wraps.

Abrams and Ford have both said there's a good reason he isn't on the poster or in the trailers.

Harrison Ford looks so old and confused. Hopefully Han dies in this one.

Totally agree...Harrison looks like he hates everything and everyone in the universe! Why so serious Han???

That stupid look on his face makes me not wanna watch the movie now! He's clearly too old, and needs to go...bye Felicia!
