Kind of baffled by how 1080p still isn't a thing this generation. 60 fps I get it, it's super demanding. But not even 1080p?
Well you answered yourself there.

It should be set to whatever is neutral, so no added blurring or ringing. This is usually at 0 or 50. If you set it to 0 and it's really smeary, set it to 50.Should sharpness be set to 0?
Still a Junior Member after all this time...Still 720p after all this time..
So they can stay on PC if they have higher standard. That's not that complicated. Console will never offer the same standard of the PC. Time to accept this thing. In the latter years of the previous generation, the PC market exploded and a lot of people's standards got higher.
Looks pretty rough on my 55
Game looks glorious on PC, but the players aren't there
...running at 1080p with a resolution scale of 83% is basically what the consoles are doing. Both Xbox One and PS4 are running at 1080p with the 3D portion scaled down...just like what the resolution slider offers on PC. The HUD and menu are all rendered at full 1080p.

In short buy the PS4 version given the option.
So PC > PS4 > Xbox One.
I'm planning to keep testing the PS4 and XO versions for frame-rate issues. With a variable multiplayer game like this, it's hard to really make a final call on performance without a larger sample size. If I run into any additional issues, I'll try to capture and get the info out for those interested.
When is that ever not the case?
Thanks!I think there should have been a full screen comparison between XB1 and PS4 so people can see the difference in resolution. Side-by-side isn't nearly as effective at illustrating that difference.
That said, you've done some great coverage on Battlefront, Dark!
When is that ever not the case?
Assassin's Creed Unity and maybe The Witcher 3? I'm not sure.
Batman: Arkham Knight, for one.
Yeah, none of those nasty power lines or towers that were used in BF4. It pretty much required downsampling to clean up that game.
One thing I also need to commend DICE for is how they've maintained many of the effects that are lost when games target 60fps. There are good levels of AF and camera/object motion blur are full effect. Those are usually some of the first things to go when a dev aims for 60.
Justifying choice of platform? Where did I try to justify a choice a platform in my post? The guy I quoted was trying to justify his platform of choice with an argument that makes no sense in a technical analysis thread. It's twice as nonsensical if people feel the need to justify the choice of platform, even when the game runs great on every platform.
I am curious, what does it look like at rest on PS4 and xb1 in endor forest. How does the FXAA hold up while the wind blows through the vegetation if the player stays still. That would be another usual problem zone for FXAA.
I mean, unless your PC has a 2GB Graphics card, the PC version actually still offers better 30fps experience than consoles. But that does not mean of course that the game is at all up to snuff on PC. I consider it shit-tier still.
I bought this on my very powerfull PC, but never heard of TeamSpeak, Skype, Ventrilo or the build in Origin friends (Voice)chat, PC gaming is so bad lol. Also only terrible people play on PC, because the Xbox One has better friends because of the cloud. It automatically improves people's intelligence and 23% less people on Xbox One claim to have daily sexual intercourse with your mother compared to PC. Also Microsoft told me resolution doesn't matter so I connected my xbox one to my grandmas black 'n white TV, you all suck for playing on those HDready TVs.
Look St3k3lly, I know I am behaving like a scumbag at the moment. But seriously this sounds like very bad Microsoft PR. All I seem to read in technical threads is: Yeah but friends on xobx one. I am getting really a bit tiered about it and your Voice Chat on PC argument is terrible. We (my friends and me) are using PC voicechat since 2003... (and many PC players probably way before that). So enjoy the game, it's still a great port, but I do not understand why 'friends' is an argument in a technical thread.
Assassin's Creed Unity and maybe The Witcher 3? I'm not sure.
Depends on the TV, sometimes yes. Some manufacturers make it so the no sharpening happens at 50 (half way) or for some it's at 10. There's no hard rule. My suggestion is to check where the sharpness is set on your tv when you switch it to a Cinema preset. That's most likely a number you want in other presets too.Should sharpness be set to 0?
Batman seemed pretty much locked 30 on PS4 for as long as I played it (about an hour). Also by the time the performance patch came out, most people were done with game.I mean, unless your PC has a 2GB Graphics card, the PC version actually still offers better 30fps experience than consoles.

In my case it's PS4 > PC as my gaming laptop( GT640M,i5,4GBRAM) would run it worse than the console.
Everyone has different PC's so the PC > console doesnt always apply.
Does it now? I still own the game and wouldn't mind replaying it if I can get a good locked 30 FPS. At launch, it was awful all around for me.
All I said is that I'm preferring playing on my xbox with my friends on there. Whats with the amount of butt hurt you've gotten from my post?
You do realize that the game is running at 1080p on PS4 scaled down to 900p? The Hud and menu elements are 1080.

Your color/contrast setting could be too high too.

The percentage bar basically controls the internal resolution. So if you're outputting at 1080p and set it to 83%, it's roughly 1600x900 internally. Since the internal scaling capability of Frostbite exceeds that of most LCD panels, you get a better image.I think the terminology needs some clarification?
On PS4, the final output is 1080p, the hud and menu elements would be rendered at the native resolution while the 3D elements would be rendered at 900p and scaled up to 1080p.
Don't have an idea what the PC resolution scale means though.
I don't think it'll be an issue there since MEC will be focusing on urban environments with lots of flat, glassy surfaces. Why is there any pop-in on PC when using the highest settings? This drives me nuts!
I hate pop in. Pop in is the REASON I decided to build a PC. I'll turn down other settings if I have to, including resolution, but I need to have the option!
I don't care about this game specifically, but I hope this isn't a problem in Mirror's Edge Catalyst.
What are you talking about? So it's grassgate all over again, only this time it's in XB1's favor. Time to sell your PS4!
So that's what that is.There is also an adaptive tessellation feature in play on all platforms that more gradually adjusts terrain quality as players approach. Rather than simply cycling between individual LODs, we actually see the terrain warp and skew as we move back and forth. It works well and isn't something we found distracting in the least, unlike the aforementioned LOD pop-in.
What are you talking about?
More surprisingly, this is one area in which we discovered a difference between PS4 and Xbox One - there is more foliage rendered on Xbox while playing the Endor Survival map.

It's a pretty rare thing that I only noticed in that one specific map. Not really sure what's up with that, to be honest. They mention that there is some additional vegetation, but don't really exemplify it in the video, nor ellaborate much in the article. To what extent is this and why I wonder? Considering performance is marginally better on PS4.
WHAT
Witcher 3? What? You mean the 20fps mess on the swamps was the best way to play the game?
Well now TW3 runs better on PS4 and looks better obviously, but even at launch some would prefer higher res over more stable fps (and I personally didn't find TW3's performance to be too bad at launch on PS4, only bothered me at certain areas, I would much rather get full HD) so I wouldn't say it was necessarily a win for either, depens on your preference, today obviously it's a clear win for PS4.Whoops. I was thinking about PC>Xbox One>PS4, not Consoles>PC.

Still 720p after all this time..
The price of 60 frames.

They did the very same thing for Fallout 4, they said there was more detail on the XB1 version in one area, they never showed where that extra detail was, up to this day. Like here, more vegetation on Endor, where is it exactly? Funny, they can always pinpoint extra detail on an xbox version of a game, better AO in rivals, better detail in a section of fallout 4, better vegetation in endor, but could not see the extra foliage in GTA5 till it was pointed out.....They mention that there is some additional vegetation, but don't really exemplify it in the video, nor ellaborate much in the article.
