Guitar Hero Live |OT| Not a Band Game

bistromathics

facing a bright new dawn
are there only 2 venues or whatever in the single player? seemed really short.

I can't believe it took this long to have calibration options during a song (maybe rb4 or gh world tour did - I didn't play those). Backing out to the main menu and then going into a song to test calibration was always my least favorite part of the music games.

I mean technically there are 7 venues.

er maybe venues isn't the right word. whatever the two sections are with the sub-sets of 3-4 songs. I was kinda surprised at the lack of progression/unlocks.

edit: I loaded up DJ Hero 2 the other day while waiting for this to come in the mail. Man those games are so good. The music mixes are freaking awesome, and that they were able to basically design their own note charts made the gameplay fit and feel so perfect! I really want another DJ Hero :(

Does anyone wish that they add DLC Live events? I kinda want them to join up with actual rockstars and you might be able to play a few songs from their setlist with all of the fanciness and such of the Live portion, though I'd be also content if they didn't. I just really want more Live events, even though I love GH: TV.

I'm not really sure if it's an official thing or whatever, but the Twitter account of Yearbook Ghosts, one of the fictional bands, tweeted that they were recording stuff with FSG. I wouldn't be surprised if they did "proper" DLC for the Live portion. It wouldn't be hard either, they could just release, say, a pack for one of the bands in the game and add a new show.

I agree. I for one, loved the Live section. Even though the TV portion is fantastic, I would definitely love new sets.

FUUUUCK I would be all over that! Need more Portland Cloud Orchestra too!

I just bought this game for Black Friday and played it and oh my god

Like... this is it. This is one of those "this is a video game from my dreams" kinds of deals. Where everything is just beyond perfection to the point where I didn't think humanity can pull off something so grand and masterful. The same feeling I got when Cloud was announced for Smash or when I played DmC: Devil May Cry or when I saw Arrow for the first time. Literally everything about this game blows my mind and I can't wait to play more of it.

I'm actually kind of shocked. I can't process how much I love this game and that's only an amazing thing.

So I just got this today and was assembling the guitar, and the whammy bar seems loose. Whatever position I move it to it just falls down and points towards the ground. I've tried twisting it in both directions to see if it'd tighten, but it doesn't.

Is this just how it was designed or is the guitar defective? I suppose it could be by design as in a higher position it could get in the way of the strum bar.

I've seen a couple of posts in this thread with the same issue, so not sure if it's just an unlucky fault or that's how the whammy bar is on all of the controllers.

Seems like yours is defective. My whammy bar can be moved but it holds itself in whatever direction I put it in, even straight up. Just got the game this last week.

Man, what a great game this is. Reinvigorated my love of music games and actually drives the genre forwards. Nothing anyone here doesn't already know, but GHTV is the best thing to happen to these games in ages. Love it.

Are the Avenged Sevenfold songs gone or can only the pre order people play them still?

They're gone.

As for the whammy bar, mine stays where I put it, but it's completely pointless since it does basically nothing at all. I wish they hadn't bothered putting in on the guitar and had spent a few more bucks on "build quality" instead.

Thanks, a bit disappointing but since it doesn't do much, and the bar still works it's just loose, I'll probably just keep hold of it unless Tesco can do a straight swap in store (doubtful since it was an online Direct order).

The game itself is really good so far. Enjoying GH TV.

I asked this over on the Guitar Hero subreddit, but it doesn't seem to be too active, so hopefully you guys can help me a bit more.

I'm super close to taking the plunge on this game with Best Buy having it on sale plus the GCU discount making it about $50ish. The only thing holding me back is all the negative comments I've been hearing about the build quality on the new guitar, like the double strumming. On top of that, on all the demo units I've tried the alt-strumming feels like shit. It doesn't feel smooth like with the previous guitars, almost as if something wasn't properly lubricated. I like the new button layout, but the rest of the guitar just feels super cheap, especially compared to the new RB4 guitar. Can anyone confirm these issues or put my fears to rest? I really just want this as a compliment to RB4, but not if it's just going to break on me easily.

Well, some had problems with the guitar, others none. Like with this kind of games on general, is a "ymmv" (your mileage may vary) kind of thing.

A common thing os that the guitar is quite ...finicky aroud other bluetooth devices. For example, when my friend came over I played more than fine (like normal), but in his case, down-strum never worked. Why? Because he had a smart watch. Others has reported problems with bluetooth devices, so a common advise is to turn off any device that uses bluetooth on the same area.

Now, that won't solve the issue with the noise (or apparent lack of lubrication). On mine I have no problem with it, but some describe it as really loud and annoying, so it varies too.

If anything, get it and try it. Then return it as faulty if you're not pleased with how it works and sounds.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but anyone knows how to enable the mic for Live/TV play? Can't seem to figure it out.

Plug the mic, make sure it's on (if there's an on/off switch like mine).

Go to options and toggle Vocals on. On Live it only works in Quickplay, TV works for every song.

So, I hate how loud the clicking is on the guitar, both for the buttons and strum bar :( Means I have to shoot the volume really high on the TV to hear anything and the clicking just gets distracting and annoying.

Thanks. I'll stew it over while I wait to get out of work and maybe pick it up later tonight.

Yep, the game itself is great but the clicking on the guitar makes playing at night a bit awkward.

Heads up: in GHTV that setting is under the start menu, which you get to by pressing one of the two little round buttons next to the Hero Bar.

90s setlist is solid. Other one is decent too, nice seeing Nothing But Thieves and Pulled Apart by Horses.

So i just beat the campaign last night and started GHTV, I have to say i am really impressed and glad that i got this over Rock band 4.

The guitar click didn't bother me as much as some other people.

I can see myself playing this game for a lonnnng time.

I hope they put some 'breaking benjamin' tracks in ghtv though, and some 'of mice and men'

Anyone know if this is a problem?

This is just on regular since I'm starting

But like sometimes the buttons don't register
I thought it was the controller dying so i switched the batteries out

But i don't know something feels off

If one note fails it wont recover til 3 or 4 later

Maybe its just me

This happens to me sometimes, I find that pausing the game and removing and reinserting the dongle seems to help.

EDIT: Also totally anecdotal, but I wear a smart watch and try to take that off and move my phone away from the guitar a bit. A few other people have theorized that bluetooth interference has been causing some issues.

So in one week I managed to get out of regular difficulty and into advanced and have been feeling comfortable. I figured that you know you can bump up in difficulty when you can actually 95%+ some of the hard metal songs on that given difficulty. Metal songs in advanced(especially the hammering notes) are completely destroying me however. It is so hard to find the rhythm of the strums and the finger dexterity in my left hand just isn't there yet.

Anyone have any tips on any breakthroughs they made in this regard other than just bearing down and practicing that specific song? This is my first Guitar Hero game and am loving it thus far. Everyday play it for at least an hour.

For only playing a GH game for a week I think you're making pretty damn good progress, but unfortunately there's no real breakthrough to relate to make things any easier...it just sort of happens with experience. Enjoy the progression, thats what hooks everyone and has made this game in particular so appealing to those of who have mastered the old 5 button layout.

Reminder that metalcore ruins everything.

That Fire came up on the Metal Hour and all it does is remind me of Light from Above. We could've had the next great metal band, we got stuck with another shitty hardcore band.
