People asking why Rez is a big deal: did you play it? It's fine if you didn't but you need to understand Rez defined this genre. All of the games that followed its blueprint failed to match Rez in every area that mattered. Nothing came close.

damn, I remember staying up until like 4AM so I could download REZ HD and play it before everyone else.
Pretty sure I did something similar, I remember first playing it really late at night and being in awe at the HD.
Now I have a 5.1 surround sound system and a much bigger TV I'm really psyched. Want to not only play it again, but really git gud at score attack and the like.

I didn't realise it, but now that you mention it...TxK should have VR on top of OLED (screw you Atari from blocking it from launching on other platforms).

Eh? The original game was on Dreamcast and PS2. Unless you played with a backward-compatible PS3, or you are confusing Rez HD's platform (360).
sega's doing some good here but holy shit you guys. rez sold 20,000 units in the united states. that's not me saying, 'uh why are they going back to this franchise it sold like shit', it's a realization that if they can bring this back (and rez is fucking rad), then anything is possible.

Though if they weren't showing footage with head tracking, I don't understand why the guy in the tron suit was playing with a headset.
I'm none the wiser as to how the VR part is actually going to work. Surely no head tracking would mean serious disorientation?

Amazing announcement. Rez needs to live on forever and it's such a natural fit for VR. Was really encouraged seeing Mizuguchi on stage showing it off too. Come back Miz!
I still wanna see space whale in VR though if this does well.
