PlayStation Experience 2015 Thread: The Year of Dreams

love on your sleeve
So, E3 for God of War? I'm really surprised they don't have anything to show at the end of 2015 but I guess there's something to be said for not announcing games too early.

They were expecting way too much, but since it's a Sony sponsored thing, I expect them to be way overexcited for what they did announce and downplay their predictions.

How is it expecting way too much to expect to hear about at least god damn one new first party game at a PLAYSTATION conference?

No Shenmue 3? Can kinda understand maybe Yu didn't wanna risk more backlash putting it on another big Sony stage but...

Segac? Where's Shenmue 1 & 2 HD? >.<

Yea Colin & Greg both pretty much bombed on their predictions. Like not even close iirc, Colin's more than likely just so annoyed now. They have pretty much been leading the vanguard of people on this crusade to change PSN names and Colin's been on about Sony Bend for awhile now.

It sounds like an obvious thing now after the fact, but since they seemingly have to talk about PSN services at E3 (assumption since they always do), it seems like a perfect thing for that bigger stage mixed in amongst the more boring PSN service announcements.

Then again this could continue to be the new "when will they finally do it" thing for a while I suppose.

I'd say that was about on par with last year's. Lot of indie/smaller stuff, a handful of big games/extra gameplay, and a mediocre ending for a game not many people are actually interested in.

Maybe people will keep their expectations in check for next year's? haha

Ni No Kuni 2 !!!!! God damn that just made my day.

Also FF7, Yakuza Zero, Full Throttle Remaster, 100ft Robot Golf, Nioh, Ace Combat 7, there was some great announcements.

Wish all the grown ass manchildren with ADHD would do the sensible thing and just watch these conferences after theyre finished so they could skip the stuff they dont wanna see and spare the rest of us from the hyperbolic posts
They could just watch the footage of the latest AAA game of their choice and be done with the whole thing,no need to show off your misery, noone cares

They cant even show a 1 minute trailer of sport/indie game anymore (which is a far cry from the FIFA Pele snoozefest) without people losing their shit
Hell, theres a 99% chance I wont play anything shown here but UC4 and FF7,but at least they were fuckin showing games all the way which is the format everybody seemed to be crying for year after year.
Some people just literally want a 10minute long slideshow of the biggest trailers back to back without any humans on stage then cut to black and thats it.
Heres a PSA for you:You can do that on any site afterwards.

But all this applies to every other event, not just this one.People were acting terrible yesterday during VGAs as well. It's getting ridiculous.

Also, why would they show Horizon/TLG/Dreams? They just did them a month ago

Whenever these conferences happen, people have this ridiculous expectation that every second of the entire thing has to be AAA, mind-blowing, crazy reaction worthy announcements.

VR was weak, and they definitely should have put either FFVIIR or UC4 at the end to go out with a bang, but it was overall a pretty decent conference.

With how many indie games come out these days, it's pretty hard to keep track of what's upcoming or what's close to release. I actually like Sony dedicating a segment to indie games because it lets me know some of the "bigger" games coming out soon to look out for. It's a great opportunity to show off what smaller developers can do and I'm sure they'd love to market their games just as much as the AAA games if they had the budget for it.

Solid conference, a lot small and fun games were shown. The VR games are very quirky and funny and even weird which reminds of PS1 era games. PSX seems to highlight smaller games or japanese games as big games like Horizon and GOW get plenty of showtime at E3 and other shows. I feel people expected way too much from this. 6/10 for me

4/10

Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer and Ni No Kuni 2 were the only interesting topics. Minus points for that Crash tease that came to nothing.

In contrast, I would give E3 a 10/10 and PGW an 8/10, with last years PSX a 7.

Best wishes.

There's no way they shit talk anything.

Colin's already been critical on Twitter.

Personally, that's the worst conference I've ever seen. The only time I was even paying attention was for U4, FF7 and Ratchet.

That said, it doesn't detract from Sony's line up next year. Horizon, TLG, Uncharted and Ratchet was already good enough.

So much here I like. I just woke up (night shift) when it finished, but FFVII gameplay this far along was amazeballs. Ni No Kuni sequel made me smile. 100 Foot Robot Golf? Psychonauts VR?

But the thing that got me most was Nioh. I didn't even realize it was a thing and it seems slightly flashier and less precise than DS games, which is good for me.

This must have been your first, then.

Objectively? a 4/10, for me personally? a 2/10.

Horrible, just an horrible conference, one of Sony's worst.

I don't understand these posts. Every learned if lots if new stuff, buy it or not before today you didn't even know most if it existed. Now every has more options, what's to be disappointed in?

Despite the awkward ending, I enjoyed the conference. I really didn't expect them to drop bombs like they did last year. Ace combat VR and Nick no Kuni 2 along with Nier: Automata, Uncharted 4, etc. have me excited for Sony's upcoming lineup. Plus I know there are still Bend and Sam's unannounced titles to look forward to.

Looking over the trailers for Ni No Kuni, FF7, Uncharted, Rachet and Paragon... Sony had a good amount of really impressive stuff.

They just showed it in a completely awful and terrible order that killed any sense of momentum.

VR demo should have not been done.

Here here! People need to just calm down and temper their expectations so as to mitigate their disappointment.

Can some people seriously not see the problem with how they ended the conference? Just seemed out of place; as if they they added it in or pulled something else (like GoW 4) last minute. Not even a "thank you for being here tonight and see you next uear" or something to that effect like they always do. Just seemed very strange how they ended abruptly.

At the very least, like I've been nagging already, they should have switched Ni No Kuni 2 and Paragon lol. Or ended with something big, because that is what people instantly think of just as the conference is finished. Lasting impressions are always strong, otherwise they can leave a sour taste.

Don't get me wrong, content was solid, but pacing was awful. Just awful.

Was there any decent Vita announcements?

Zero from Sony, that's for sure. There were a bunch of Third Party titles (part of the Adult Swim lineup, Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle) that were joint-announced for Vita and PS4, so that was nice at least. But Sony's not even making MLB for Vita this year, they've never been more out than now.

Boyes introduced it as "the last game", there was a trailer, and an ending montage. It ended the same way every conference ends.

Sony have flat-out stated that they aren't going to make any new Vita games. I think they even said that twice so far.

What you see is what you get.

On Final Fantasy VII remake:

I'm not sure what to think about FF7r. Even knowing the combat wouldn't be ATB, I was hoping it would be something fresh. Though it could still be, what I saw was looking a bit too familiar.

On Uncharted 4:

Naughty Dog is keeping most of the game itself close to their chest and I respect them for that. Still I like all the small story segments they've been showing so far.

Ni-Oh:

This was the standout for me. The best part about what I saw today is that I won't need to see anymore until release.

Playstation VR (sans Rez, Modern Zombie Taxi Co.):

The conference wasn't as bad as some are claiming. Despite a few awful jokes and some awkward flubs, the presenters did a fair enough job. The pacing could use some work, but it didn't overstay it's welcome. The one thing I appreciate about how it ended is that Layden didn't come out just to sign off following that thing from Epic.

Boyes introduced it as "the last game", there was a trailer, and an ending montage. It ended the same way every conference ends.

That's not what I'm saying. Even Andrew House at E3 2014, before announcing and leaving to show the Uncharted 4 teaser, he said "Next up we will leave you with one last title from one of the finest studios in the world that captures the heart of PlayStation. Thank you all so much, and have a wonderful evening". This time, it just felt out of place. But that isn't even my main point; my biggest gripe is the game they ended on.

Weird way to end the conference. I've been watching pressers for over a decade and that felt, I'm not sure, it felt...abrupt.

Especially strange given Shawn Layden's "If we opened with Uncharted 4, what are we gonna close with!?" comment. Here's a MOBA from Epic...

I thought it was a pretty great conference overall. Considering what happened with Vib Ribbon, they are obviously hinting that something is going to happen soon with Crash Bandicoot. I wanted to see the game too but I think them trolling us a little bit is actually quite amusing.

The one thing I simply can't understand is why they chose to close with a fucking moba. Yeah, Epic used to be a relativey important develloper but console gamers have very few reasons to give a shit about mobas. I didn't even like the first Ni No Kuni but the sequel reveal should have closed the conference, it looked great.

Still, I'm pretty excited with the annoucements and I'm downloading FF7 right now, can't wait to play it again and get all the trophies.

This is exactly how I feel about it. I get wanting to open with 2 big games back to back but they should have spread them out more and ended with Ni No Kuni 2.

Personally, the Level 5 announcement and the localization announcements for Yakuza and Ni-Oh made it a good conference for me despite the pacing.
