PlayStation Network Thread | December 2015

Lol i get it, but that's a satisfaction that only those who like rare items can get, most of the people that just want to get physical games would likely be more pissed than satisfied.

I don't think it's *too* bad. Between all the regions (NA/EU/Asia) I normally manage to get a retail release for stuff I want.

Top of the page: Buy Trails of Cold Steel on Dec 22nd!

Yes, but between NA/EU/JP/Asia sites and releases you can agree you need to more infos and more work to get the game you want, it may be surprising but not everyone is willing to buy a Japanese or Asian release, even less without English.

Finally AC:Chronicle is official!
When XCOM?

First i post VG+ and you say that VG+ doesn't matter and that i should have posted Amazon, then i post Amazon and you say it doesn't matter... Make up your mind ;)

No matter how you turn this being a collector with vita is not as satisfying and as easy as with other consoles, many games are not retail and you have to find the available ones in who know what site matters. Vita is not a good console for collectors, just deal with it.

And no i don't go to gamestop but most of the people do and prefer it to internet.
I said that because Amazon has everything (in due time), VGP doesn't.
Also I'm not saying it's a good console for collectors, my point is that almost everything is physical and easily found anywhere online unless it's a LE.
But who the fuck calls himself a collector and doesn't buy online when even soccer moms buy their stuff on Amazon?

Agreed, if you can't do basic research or buy it online.. how does one call himself a collector? You can't find limitedrungames at gamestop.

It makes no sense.

Koei Tecmo Europe is asking questions about localizing the Vita version of Yoru no Nai Kuni (Knights of Azure), and has dropped three polls Vita fans should probably vote on;

60% of 800 something people, looks good. Everybody vote!

I wonder what was the main reason they were not doing the Vita version. Someone on reddit said it was too big to fit in 4gb card digitally, is it true?

The reason they gave, iirc, was that Gust were stretched and didn't have time to code in the translation for the Vita version at the same time as the PS4 version (hence they've always mentioned they're not opposed to bringing the Vita version but it'll likely release later than PS4).

Can somewhat understand it. Gust were working on two big projects this year (Nights of Azure & Atelier Sophie) targeting 3 platforms and still have a team working on the Vita ports (Shallie Plus), but I'd have thought they'd have some spare programmers now the latter two are released.

From what I remember the framerate is pretty bad and the game is far from native res?

Edit:apparently I remember wrong.

It's just dawned on me that the window for getting Ukiyo no Roushi in the west seems to be about to close. Such a shame. I know it bombed in Japan but so did a few other things we got in the west (Lost Dimension) and I love a good janky Japanese action game on my Vita. Had loads of fun with Shinobido and Akiba's Trip.

The gameplay looks like fun but.....its um....story seems to be far more suggestive then the developers past works and that turns me off the game a bit :l.

The official Youtube channel just got banned.

BakunyuuP: It makes me really feel that the release date is approaching when these kind of reports increase every time, and makes me excited.

I love this man.

Edit:Sorry, apparently, the alternative is not up yet. lol

I bought Infamous Second Son (US version) and there's nothing inside the box other than the disc, which I thought was strange

I looked at some unboxing videos on Youtube and there's this code for "Manga And Murder". Was this available only for the first print edition?
Also, something kinda related - I have the first day edition of MGS V that I have yet to open. Is there any expiry date on the codes with the bonus content or whatever it was that they included?

Their YouTube channel got banned O_O?!

....Its going to be very interesting when they start working on bringing the title over to NA/EU next year.

I bought my inFamous copy about a year ago and it has nothing inside the case except a disc. It seems the Manga and Murder mission is part of the free Paper Trail DLC so you should be able to get it by following the instructions here.

Oh --

In the 'what i'm playing' post I wrote, I can't believe I forgot to mention my current vita game is

Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time (PSP)

Excellent game so far -- combat is on the world map (avoidable if desired) and 'real time w/pause' -- you set orders, and your units follow them until they need new ones, or you can pause and change orders. You add gems to your weapons, and can permanently learn skills from them in a rather nice leveling up system. So far the story is 'serious jrpg', which I like -- I'm not one for stories in my games but this one seems solid enough so far. Something about ruin children (found in ruins!) being the only ones that can generally enter ruins (dungeons) and use spells... and the setting is some future rebuilt fantasy post-technological apocalypse world.

My only real issues are two fold -- the skill system (learning stuff from usage) hits me in the ocd-bone and makes me grind too much (oh, only 17 more kills to learn that skill? Sure, i'll do that before moving on! Oh! Now only 22 more kills for my other character to learn xyz... grrr. I guess. Oh! Now...). But I'm hoping once i'm higher level and skills are harder to earn i'll stop paying attention. And two, and I hate myself for this, without trophies i find it much harder to push forward. But that said, I do enjoy it... it's just been very hard for me to 'care' about single player games lately, mostly due to my TLOUR addiction. this happens to me every once in awhile when i find good tactical mp.

I don't have a twitter account so can't vote. can someone who wasn't going to go out of their way to vote muster the energy to vote 'i want it!' type answers for me. I'm okay with digital only for that question - getting it is more important to me than how i get it.

Normally don't post much here but I wanted to tell everyone to get Steins;Gate ASAP and play it.

I did a 4 day marathon and got all the endings (somehow missed all spoilers before playing so I had no idea what to expect), what an absolutely incredible experience, if Witcher 3 didn't come out this year it would be my GOTY. It's an essential purchase if you own a Vita.

Now to decide between P4G and Ys MoC as my next game to play...

Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star is hitting Steam on December 15th, pretty likely it will hit PS4 and Vita then as well!

Dunno about Ys but DO NOT start P4G if you have any <50hr game you plan on starting.

P4G gets everything on the back burner. EVERYTHING.

And I don't even like the JRPG parts of the game.

I've played them both, and they're both awesome. I'd probably take on P4G first as it's longer, but that's because I like getting long things out of the way.

Thanks for the input, I'm thinking on starting Ys since I'd like an action-y title to play right after such a story focused game.

Yeah, it's just so good. Getting through all those endings was an intensely emotional experience lol.

I watched the (excellent) anime back in the day, which means I got spoiled on most twists. Haven't played the game for that reason, however I can tell everyone that the story in that show/game are amazing. To this day Steins;Gate is one of my most favourite shows of all time, sequel movie, specials everything. The new special leading up to Steins;Gate 0 was AWESOME, and I cannot wait to watch it!

And go with P4G. ACTUALLY I'd say play P3P first if you could, since it has in my opinion the best characters and story, but the worst gameplay of the two. Regressing back in gameplay might detract from enjoying that title as much.

Speaking of Trails, I today found out that a colleague from my degree program is playing TiTS now on his PC. When I asked him whether he was playing FC or SC, he wasn't sure since he didn't even seem to know that there was more than 1 chapter. After some enquiring I found out that he was playing FC. He sighed in relief. Apparently he loves the game so much that after I told him about SC, he said he is going to buy it and play it as soon as he finishes the first chapter aha.

Have the exact same issue, watched the anime back in the day and loved it, one of my top 10 shows of all time. But it also means I know the major plot points already. Bought the game and definitely plan to play it down the road when maybe I have forgotten more about the show, and to explore the characters more fully.

Kind of went the other direction with some recent VNs (Fruit of Grisaia comes to mind) where I watched an episode or two but decided to stop so I could play the VN fresh.

I don't remember a lot from FC, but certain plot points he gave me were all from the first game. I then showed him both PSP covers on Google, and that was when we nailed it.

Yup, totally understandable. I actually watch anime on a seasonal basis, so watching these episodes 20mins weekly for 13-24weeks means that I have time for other stuff, or even playing some other game that I wouldn't be able to due to having to read the VN.

There are bad adaptations though. Steins;Gate just happened to be the antithesis of the norm aha. Hoping 0 does the same. Episode 23 Beta, the special that just released last month as an "intro" to that route was on point, so I'm hoping for the best.

God, one day I will get remote play to not suck horribly. All I want to do is play the PS4 version of FF VII on my vita when my GF is using the TV, and I figured even with lag a turn based game would be perfect for this. But no, even after buying a router which is connected wired to my PS4 and is sitting maybe 5 feet from my Vita, I drop the connection every 5 minutes or so. I really do not understand, even made sure the router was on the least busy WiFi channel, Vita is set to remote play at lowest video quality and framerate, and WiFi in power save mode is off on Vita.

At least it works better than when I was direct connecting to the PS4 before I got the router. Which will always seem weird to me, that adding an intermediary actually helps the connection vs PS4 straight to Vita via broadcasted WiFi.

Is your Vita's WiFi connection in battery saving mode? It is set as that by default and it affects both the direct and the WiFi remote play in a huge way. Your speeds should be higher via direct connection, I'm playing FFVII through it myself and I have 0 issues.

he explicitely said it's not.

I'd wager it's on the PS4's end, honestly.

Yea, gonna try with my brother's PS4 to see if anything is different, but I've had problems pretty consistently with remote play. It could just be massive wireless interference, while I chose the most clear channel, I still do live in a large building in Brooklyn surrounded by other apartments, so there could be as many as 30 different random WiFi signals being broadcasted in the vicinity.

Issues have persisted through 2 full restores of the PS4 and a full restore of the Vita, so who knows at this point aside from just interference or a hardware issue. Everyone always says they have no issues with remote play, and I wish I could say the same since it would be very useful as someone with one TV but two people who use it consistently.
