I'm not in a hurry to play the game in spite of its quality, all I want is the PC version to shine.
I don't care if I have to wait until June.
Tomb Raider 2013 was amazing on PC, packed with awesome visual effects, I want ROTTR to be as impressive.
Directx 12 support would be fantastic even though the game does not have the profile of a CPU limited game.

I think Uncharted 4's delay hurt the marketing that was likely planned for the game. The comments from MS and CD after the deal seemed to be one where they were looking to go head to head with Uncharted for the action adventure crown this holiday, and with the delay that broke down that angle. MS wanted the game because they wanted to fill a void in their lineup that happened to match the biggest IP Sony would be launching the following holiday. CD wanted to TR to become the biggest action adventure brand. So it all matched up rather well until the delay.

Late January can be a good time to release a video game (Dying Light did good last year around that time), and it would be well before all of the UC4 hype starts to heat up.

Whenever this comes out, for the love of God, just find a day that it's not paired up with a behemoth of a title releasing the same day. If the 1 year exclusivity status for the console version and they can't release it till next holiday in the ps4, keep it away from things like cod or mass effect or even something like horizon.

Yeah, but they still could have marketed it better. Uncharted getting delayed shouldn't have changed their marketing strategy if they're going to spend so much money getting exclusivity.

I suspect that the PC version may well come in January but any chance of a PS4 version coming then are nil.

This is Tomb Raider only in name. Don't expect any of the genius of the early Tomb Raider games on PS1 and Saturn.

I don't think Uncharted getting delayed changed the strategy so much so that Square presumably renegotatiated to reveal that it was a timed-exclusive before the game even came out on Xbox.
In MS's eyes, ROTR is presumably already downgraded since they have to acknowledge that it's just a timed-exclusive, instead of pretending like it's never coming to PC/PS4.

And you are comparing ROTTR Xbox One sales with multi-platform titles.
Perhaps Square were smart enough to place an exit clause on their deal with MS if a certain number of units didn't ship during launch month.
No matter I hope the rumor is true. This is one of my top 3 games of the year and I'd happily double dip on PC and perhaps even PS4 down the line if it comes with all the DLC.

They were launch titles. If you buy a console day 1 you want stuff to play on it that isn't cross-gen, even if it's not really what you want to play. I imported Dead Rising 3 in November 2013 (and liked it), no way I wouldt have bought the game in November 2015, even if it ROTTR's review scores and better graphics, not with Fallout 4 coming out and my exclusive backlog on both consoles being pretty long.
Btw, not saying that ROTTR's sales don't look bad, just saying your example doesn't really hold up.
