Not to mention that one of the brainiacs says that it isn't even going to come out on the PS4, but will be on the PS5.
Yeah, sure. It's coming to PS5, and a year from that to XBO.

I expect it to be on PS5. 3 years is the earliest this will release and there's every chance it will be longer than that, which puts it extremely close to a generational transition. So even if it is a PS4 project, there will be a PS5 version. Not to mention that one of the brainiacs says that it isn't even going to come out on the PS4, but will be on the PS5.
Can't wait to listen to podcast unlocked
Sounds salty
"Kojima chooses PlayStation"
After that embarrassing tweet I would never have made the focus of the show that
So he's your typical gamefaqs user then ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)Ryan's really predictable. Immediately after that tweet I posted that the next episode would be primarily about this.
The way he runs Podcast Unlocked is really sort of strange. A lot of the episodes actually focus so much on Sony and the PS4 and how MS has to respond and blah blah blah. It's really weird how he can't just focus on Xbox itself.

He also said that he wants the first project to be smaller in scale than V. While I'm not expecting 2018, I think it's possible.i don't think 2018 is an unrealistic expectation for a game from this studio. the only time kojima has taken an inordinate amount of time with a game is when he was developing new engine tech along with the game (mgs4, mgsv). none of the other games he's worked on has had any development time issues. so assuming he'll go with an existing engine like UE4, i don't expect an mgs4/mgsv length of development
With kojima, there really isn't much of a difference.I hope Kojima isn't just going to make a game because he feels thats what people expect of him.
If he wants to make anime, let him make anime.

There's so much good and interesting about the Xbox One that it doesn't need to rely on what Playstation is doing to have discussion, but apparently Ryan is incapable of discussing it independent of Sony/PS.

PlayStation IGN became irrelevant once Colin and Greg left. I have no idea why they weren't replaced by gamers who game primarily on PS shortly afterwards, but that`s for another topic. At least Goldfarb is back though.
The question is, would he highlight those indies and bring up the JRPGs, if they weren't Xbox (timed) exclusives, or is it just about the platform they're on?
Highly unlikely. I'm not even sure he's played any of those JRPGs.

To be fair MS got Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Their focus is clearly on AAA exclusivity while Sony is clearly aiming for hearts and minds.
That would not be a problem if they didn't just leave all the Japanese developers that were promised investment and support high and dry right after that. Mistwalker man...its a shame.
Isn't it common belief that MS will lost all those games as exclusives when their sequels are announced/released?
yup, beyond is no bueno without the stars. The whole exclusivity nonsense discussed during Podcast Beyond this week was SMH.
Just because MS wants to pretend ROTR isn't a timed exclusive mean that Sony is also pretending. Unlike FFVII which is "First on PS4", " Console Exclusive" is a different meaning.

Good old Mccaffrey. Remember when he begged Microsoft to let him host their E3 conference?I didn't listen to it all as I had errands to run.
* Ryan says he was thinking in Baseball terms when he made that tweet with the Sony being the Yankees and Mocrosoft as the Red Sox
* He looked physically ill when they mentioned how Sony's coddling up Tim Schafer, Yu Suzuki and Hideo Kojima. He said he will personally ask Phil about it
* IGN contemplates that the game's 5 years away and may be a PS5 launch title.
* There was some talk about how risky it is to give Kojima this much money on a new IP and that may have been a factor why MS didn't want it
I'll listen to the rest when I get back home.
That's an unbelievable Twitter exchange. What on earth would possess someone to do that?Good old Mccaffrey. Remember when he begged Microsoft to let him host their E3 conference?

Is this guy for real?
Of course. It doesn't take much to be a game journalist, so the standards are really quite low. So these folks aren't even very good at hiding their clear preferences and fanboy desires. At least real journalists can sometimes hide that shit behind a good facade.
Because of the fable about the fox and the sour grapes. Why can't we all just be happy that Kojima has escaped the clutches of an extremely oppressive publisher and celebrate in the future fruits of his newfound creative freedom?
On Tuesday, the breakup was made semi-official, in the form of a corporate memo that Konami reputedly leaked to Nikkei, perhaps as a way of preëmpting Kojimas optimistic statement on Twitter the following day.
Why are you getting trolled by Facebook posts?Somebody just posted this on facebook. I did a google search and found posts of it all over the place online.
Wow is this some pathetic levels of delusion. Why can't we all just be happy that Kojima has escaped the clutches of an extremely oppressive publisher and celebrate in the future fruits of his newfound creative freedom? Attacks like these are juvenile and petty yet seem to account for the majority of discussion surrounding this online. Even going so far as to be retweeted by "journalists" only for them to then either recant or go back and delete their messages after people call them out on it.
The New Yorker suggests that Konami leaked the news to Nikkei in order to preempt Kojima's announcement.

Are they going to be sabotaging Kojima's attempt at happiness every step of the way from now on? I mean sure this one in particular isn't anything truly damaging but it does set the tone for what might happen.
Imagine if every time Kojima announces a new game, Konami comes out with a new metal gear as well.
Doesn't IGN read their own articles? Now the Podcast Beyond crew is speculating that Kojima's game will come out for X1 after a year of exclusivity, comparing it to Tomb Raider. Watch/Listen from the 8-min mark.
