Sony will just patch the exploit and the cycle will renew again...
Unless someone manages to make PSCX2 way more efficient, that's not going to happen anytime soon. The only reason I would like home brew is if the PS2 emulator could be released. Well, PS1 as well.

PS1 and PSP with decent upscaling & AA is totally possible though.
"ps4 security is crap enough that you don't need us for that"
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! it's x86, i suppose this don't help!

Wow, conference for PS4 every month!
The Wii conference they did about the password on the drives still kills me.
Yeah, I always think of this slide lolI really hope they touch on why the security is bad. I think on PS3 it wasn't generating a random number when it should or something ridiculous?

Xbone is probably not much different in that regard. I mean x86.
You know Sony, we really are jailbroken
edit: fuck, first post and feeling immediate joke regret

And what would you do with it that you can't do with a RPI2 nowadays?
I think they mean using the built-in PS2 emulator, like they did on PS3 with CFW.
You could play PS2-disc games on a PS3 with CFW?

I remembered right about the PS3!
If anyones interested, this is still a really good wtach on exactly how they got through to the PS3.

They're not showing an exploit.
Since they can patch the kernel and change the bootstrap, they probably could. But that would require someone else getting the same access as they have.
The Wii Password was the GC password in all caps if I remember correctly.Wait, what?
Wait, what?
That's where I'm at lol. I'm just worried that UC4 won't be playable with current firmware.ok, never update the ps4 again, check
I can't find that one archived, but the chips for GameCube injected a password to authorise the disc as legit and it was 'matshita dvd-rom'. For Wii, that was still there, but they changed the password. It was now 'MATSHITA DVD-ROM:
Yup!

I'm really interested to see if they can install Windows. Even SteamOS would be really cool. It'd be the ultimate console.
linux on ps4
I want to install Windows 10, steam, and play my PC copy of Portal 2 on my PS4.I'm really interested to see if they can install Windows. Even SteamOS would be really cool. It'd be the ultimate console.
Oh wow, never knew this! Now I'll rebuy a PS3 Slim.
I just want my Gamecube and Dreamcast emus on PS4.
ps1 emulated under linux
PS4 to become a Steam machine hehehe
GC seems out of reach because of the CPU. Dreamcast on the other hand is likely.
hackers doing what sony doesn't
I have read into this and despite a lot of trying in the search of a software exploit apparently the 360 was just really super secure - the only softmod that ever came up was the Shader Hack that only ran on a dashboard from 2006, required a flashed DVD drive and only ran Linux.Custom firmware on PS4 would basically turn it into the modded Xbox 2.0.
I say bring it on.
On a related note, its kind of disappointing how the 360 never got a softmod even after a decade.
Custom firmware on PS4 would basically turn it into the modded Xbox 2.0.
Is that even possible to downgrade past a certain firmware anymore?
Doesn't Dolphin run on everything now, even on Intel Atoms? Sure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPMYH26ingc
