Just how angry are you about the SFV PS4 Console Exclusive branding?

... This thread.

This is a PS4 game cover. It isn't Sony's job to advertise the PC version (it's Capcom's) and the main goal of the sticker is to clearly announce to the consumer who peruses the console game section and either has not bought any current gen console yet, or has both, that No, he won't find that game on Xbox One. Ever.

That's as simple as that, and one of the least outrage worthy thing I have ever seen frankly.

Oh, okay. While I have no issue admitting I'm "wrong", if someone has better arguments than me, I'm not sure "Take the L" will do it, though.

Looking through your post history when it comes to the Playstation, is it consumer rights here or something else?

The only possible confusion here is if Steam machines becomes popular in the near future and the general public start to see Steam machines as consoles rather than slim PCs, then I could agree that this label is false because console exclusive won't be a thing anymore.

Apparently I'm one of only 11 to have what you might describe as a 'simmering bear-like fury' over this. I think it's despicable and Sony should be ashamed of themselves. I'm saddened to see Arrogant Sony™ back in full force.

Considering it literally reads like this:

"PS4 Console \n\r Exclusive Game"

it's not unfathomable that some will see it as a game exclusive to the "PS4 Console", which we all know isn't true. I made a case for the branding being "misleading" earlier in the thread and stand by it.

That's okay, we'll just continue to roll our eyes at your posts.

Wow...I really don't know if this is sarcasm or someone really posting.

Definitely sarcasm. In the past, certain threads became absolute Carnivals of Stupid™, and were christened with title changes about bears battling salmon go draw attention to the idiocy within.

what is the reason though? putting it in bold, on a different line just makes it look like their highlighting the game the console is on. then saying its an exclusive game on the next line.

PS4 Console is a shorter series of words than exclusive game. Bolding fills in more blank space without ruining the kerning, and allows them to both take up the same amount of space in the area

Original post:

ps4 console
exclusive game

that is 2 very fuckin awkward fragments of words if you break them apart. It just doesn't sound right in english

also, no one who has a gaming PC and is browsing for street fighter is going to get bamboozled by such wording

thirdly,

Sony has specific wording for true exclusives

latest

There's no ambiguity in the logo for street fighter.

How about they just put, "Not on Xbox"? Just to make it clear.

Putting a modifier in front of a word that generally has a precise meaning is bound to confuse some people.

Btw... I'm not sure it's been covered yet but, beyond the knee jerk outrage, is there even a SFV PC retail version to be slighted at all to start with?

Can't find one on Amazon...

I think the PC version is digital only

Confuse who? The general populace that doesn't give two shits about PC gaming? Enthusiasts that already know this is coming to PC day and date?

Seriously, who is this confusing to?

I said that exact same thing earlier. Difference was I was being facetious. :p
You don't put the brand name of you main competitor anywhere near your own product. Plus Sony would probably have to pay for the use of the term.

I too am very concerned about Sony's misleading and downright suspicious marketing tactics when it comes to being extremely ambiguous to the use of exclusive in order to disorientate the PS4 owner into buying PS4 games.

So some people are arguing that PC gamers who use digital portals to get their usual goods anyway will be oh-so-expertly mistified by a Retail sticker on the PS4 version of a game that doesn't exist in the pc retail space, while being oblivious to pc news outlets and promos on their pc digital portal of choice that SFV indeed is coming to said portal day and date with the PS4 version?

Yeah, won't someone think of those poor souls

Doesn't make sense. It reads like "PS4 CONSOLE" + "exclusive game". So, it looks like it's a game exclusive to PS4. It would have been better to put the words "console exclusive" together.

That's the issue. I wouldn't mind if it just says "console exclusive"

...Meh, I guess I can give you that. Even so all a person's gotta do is google real quick on their phone or ask a store clerk if there's a version for (insert_x) platform, and they'll get what everyone else already knows really quick. The only people who'd raise hell about it are idiots.

I don't see how it isn't clearly a dick move for Sony to try and be intentionally misleading, people are just writing it off like "oh it's not lying, just misleading"....okay.

You need to get a grip mate. Either you don't understand English very well or are deliberately being dense. It's a console exclusive. Fact. Sony have no reason to advertise the PC version. That's down to Capcom and the PC community.

I feel like this thread is verging on some bizarro world shit that some how missed this discussion over the ambiguity a dozen times over, like seriously every single time a title gets labeled as such... and this is an enthusiast forum. I can only imagine those who might not sit on forums all day might be either be misled or just as perplexed by the term.

I had my serious face on when I typed that as well.

They might be misled into what? Not buying the game on the gaming PC they don't own?

This is one of the dumpest threads ever. Like you guys really picked apart 4 words and made it seems like it is something ridiculous. We all know what they mean and we all know nobody is that stupid to be that confused.

Like boredandlazy said there is no way it would fit nicely on one line without making the font smaller.

To eccentuate the fact it's a console exclusive? Things tend to stand out more to me if they aren't uniform.
Either way I still don't see how this would affect sales of the PC version.
Precisely. Else there is no reason to say PS4 console when there is a logo right on the left saying the same thing. It helps to highlight what kind of "exclusive" it is.

It's pretty minimalistic but gets the point across. I'm sure they did market research to gauge its effectiveness on consumer eyes. Nobody changes their successful product's branding like that without some serious consideration first.

The phrase was purposely made ambigous, that's a fact.

What should it say then, to make the fact it's a console exclusive to PS4, not ambiguous?

They can't use 'Only on Playstation' because it isn't
They can't say 'It's Not On WiiU/Xbone/NX' because, really
They aren't going to say 'Also Available On PC!' (and I can't believe I had to even offer that one up)
They won't leave it blank, why should they? They funded both versions, and they have no obligation to advertise the PC digital (is there even a PC boxed version?) version

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

'Purely in terms of consoles, only on Playstation'

One line. Same font. No bold. Same size. Obviously.

"D"

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo
Don't see what the big deal is, it looks fine to me. It matches the trim of the case and its tucked away in the upper right corner neatly.

Anything better than that Arkham City GOTY bullshit.

Though the separation of lines implies its an exclusive game. Didn't say they needed to advertise the PC version.
