Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I saw Age of Booty on my machine as well. When I launched the game and went into the 360 emulation, it said I wasn't connected to Xbox Live. I assume that is their workaround since Age of Booty servers went down during the GameSpy crisis?

My hope is announcement is taking time because they are testing a good chunk to make it be a substantial list as opposed to 10 or so.

But who knows..

told Age of Booty to download to my 360 and got..

"Your purchase was successful, but your download queue is full."

how would one clear the download list when one does not have a 360, or will it just show up on my X1 as ready to install?

That's the 360 download queue, when you buy something from the website they get automatically queued. You can check it here: https://live.xbox.com/it-IT/download/queue

That doesn't matter with X1 though, they will appear on your Ready to Install list even if you never downloaded the content on 360, you just need to purchase the license.

Hrm....Gears videos are nice, but I was hoping for some side-by-side comparisons instead of them just showing the back compat versions.

My guess is we'll see something tomorrow or Friday. Last month was Thursday the 17th, so I bet it'll be end of this week. We have to be getting close...

Just a to point out, Jeremy McGrath Offeoad and Age of Booty were both on EvB's list as of April 2015, so still looking like a solid list to follow for an idea of what's coming.

Edit -
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 also on the above list from April, 3/3.

It's happening!.gif

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 seems to be nearly identical in performance to the X360 running it, but I've only played a dozen tag arcade mode matches so far. Seems to load faster than I remember, too. Only things noticed that seemed undesirable was a very brief audio cutoff of the background music track during a match and a single instance of the audio popping. Other than that, the game seems to have very brief and minor framerate dips during intro/outro cutscenes like the original hardware produced. I played with motion blur off to start and midway through my session switched it on with no apparent negative impact. Didn't try S3D mode, but that never ran great to begin with, cutting framerate in half and still dropped frames on X360. For an initial release, this is excellent, IMO. I've always had a hard time feeling slight input latency on newer Tekken games, but with that said, it felt good if not extremely close to the real thing. Only bad news I have to report, and this is probably due to it not being officially released yet, is that the DLC for the Tekken Tunes is not up yet to install.

Just as a followup to my first impressions of TTT2 on X1, I played another dozen arcade tag matches on the X360 and then immediately played about a dozen on X1 just to get a better sense of how it performed by comparison. I'd say that this first release of TTT2 is really close, but suffers from the very occasional bout of slowdown or framerate drops, at worst, slowing the game down for a second or so and in the five or so instances I recalled in that playtime, usually in advance of a tag-in where another character model is about to appear in the arena. The only other time I had a noticeably severe hit to performance occurred when I was at the edge of fishing boat stage and the game paused for what seemed like a second or so before continuing on. This happened in both the motion blur and AA-enabled modes, but not anymore than the other. I'm guessing that the game on X1 is semi-regularly dropping single-digit frames to just under 60fps when things seem most heated, but without someone to put this game under the microscope, it's hard to tell what is happening other than to feel like it's not quite up to par with the X360 game, especially for more competitive and observant players, but seems really close the vast majority of the time. I hope they can clean up the few instances of pauses and slowdown and there does seem to be some regularity of minor visual glitches when at the final arcade stage with Jun K./Unknown. I also had one hard lock while browsing customization items and had to reboot the system from the unit itself as the controller stopped responding. How much of this is due to interaction with the beta/preview UI is uncertain, but it wouldn't be surprising if it was a double-whammy at times. Needs updates, but very close to the X360 game overall in the first two hours of playtime with it, IMO.
