Emily Rogers: Nintendo Working on Unannounced Wii U Game [Update: Paper Mario]

F-Zero UX

about damn time

NX is a more fitting title. I feel there's more need for Metroid than Diddy Kong Racing 2, Pikmin 4 and F Zero UX. I mean we have titles similar to those already on the system, it would be nice for something to fill the genre gaps.

Hmmm I am now like 95% positive this is a nextlevelgames project. Only a couple days before we see if I am right. Too many coincidences going on between the people involved.

Sakurai-developed Mega Man.

I'm expecting absolutely nothing exiting. That way when they reveal a rushed game made of random refuse from Miyamoto's pocket and belly button lint, with Kirby or Yoshi slapped on the cover, I won't cry.

I agree with the NLG prediction. I believe they could be doing something alongside Federation Force and they wouldn't be doing a huge game that's some crazy megaton, which I don't think this is -- but they are studio that could do a quality title to fill-out the Wii U's lineup.

The 3 things that I don't expect at all are the 2 obvious huge games that are likely being developed -- meaning Retro's game and the next mainline Mario. I expect both to be NX games and I doubt this rumor relates to something that big. And the other thing I don't expect is Animal Crossing Wii U. I say that because I really think with AC fitting so well on handhelds and with the Wii U's small install base they decided to wait for the NX handheld (or whatever system has a handheld component) before doing the next mainline entry. I really think they were planning on doing a full AC game at some point (that's why we got that HD plaza) but decided to hold-off once the Wii U didn't do better after MK8 and Smash.

If I had to guess I would probably say Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin (if that even counts as that game is technically already announced, just not confirmed for a platform), or perhaps a new Punch-Out!.

Paper was also supposedly leaked in an IS pamphlet at a Japanese trade show last year. It is very possible it is a new PM.
No, it was supposedly leaked by an IS employee last year. The pamphlet in question just listed Intelligent System's credits, and one of them was TTYD, the original release in 2004.

Yeah.

Unless they want the same ol lackluster launch, I think they'll release it next year.

The WiiU launch was okay aka could have been alot worse with the horrid reveal, it was the post-christmas drought that killed all the momentum. WiiU didn't pick up basically till Mario Kart.

I'm hoping for Paper Mario. That series tends to show up near the end of the platform's life.
Eh, that hasn't really been the case except for the original game, and now Paper Jam (if that counts) if 3DS gets replaced this year. TTYD was later on in the GCs life sure but there was still 2+ years left to the system at that point and SPM and SS were both near the beginning of the Wii and 3DS lifecycles.

Definitely wouldn't mind this being a new PM game but I doubt it. Feels like we definitely would have seen something big like that already if it's coming to WiiU this year. Plus Paper Jam just came out.

So just because Nintendo has 1 Wii U game in development means the NX isn't coming out in 2016? They better have some more games coming than just 1 since after Star Fox in April, the Wii U has pretty much nothing until Zelda.

AMD is also planning new semi-custom APU revenue for the second half of 2016, that is very likely NX since they have remained silent on who their partner is (Nintendo).

(Only PM 1 really showe up at the end of a platform.)
PM hasn't missed a home console since it began on the n64. So if it's going exist I hope they hurry up.

NX is not going to be 2016.

I think handheld NX is this year, and console NX is 2017. Whether it's fall 2017 or earlier, I have no idea.

I suppose I'm leaning toward a small title either by NLG or maybe even Monster if they've got the staff to create even a small HD title by themselves. Or another game could be getting the remaster treatment, like Luigi's Mansion or something. I still find it absurd that out of the countless games Nintendo could remaster to make a quick buck from, they chose two Zelda's and nothing else. They could've easily silenced a ton of Metroid fans by throwing them a Prime remaster but nope. Two Zeldas.

I really wouldn't expect Paper Mario, it's far less likely for anything out of Japan to get leaked, and I find it unlikely that the Wii U would be getting one at this point unless it's a cross-gen title.

I'd shit bricks if they somehow found info on Retro's game, but I won't even entertain that possibility.

This doesn't say us anything regarding their NX plans.

Every generation since the NES Nintendo has dumped an amazing Kirby game right at the very end of the console's lifespan.

Just saying. It's an unbroken tradition.

You are good. Very very good. Money is on you :D

I thought the launch was good for a launch but that's because the bar is so low and launches are usually shit or very lacking.

I think with the position they are in now, they need a huge launch.

Even if it won't guarantee hotcake sales, it would show confidence and make people take them seriously.

I think they need a few Mario 64ish quality titles and some solid other ones or they shouldn't even bother.
