Now that you mention it, I'm not sure it's especially likely that any of the named conspirators would know anything about a game that didn't come out of Western developer.

Eh, that hasn't really been the case except for the original game, and now Paper Jam (if that counts) if 3DS gets replaced this year. TTYD was later on in the GCs life sure but there was still 2+ years left to the system at that point and SPM and SS were both near the beginning of the Wii and 3DS lifecycles.

Definitely wouldn't mind this being a new PM game but I doubt it. Feels like we definitely would have seen something big like that already if it's coming to WiiU this year. Plus Paper Jam just came out.

I'm kinda counting Super Paper Mario since that one was one of a bunch of late GameCube games that got ported to Wii.

We heard you wanted more ways to play Metroid Prime Federation Force so we're porting it to Wii U!!!

It has to be otherwise it's dead on arrival. Some analysts expect a new Xbox in 2018 so NX would be only one year ahead.

A console without a reasonable library at launch is dead on arrival.

I don't even believe there has been enough time for developers to have games ready for the launch of the hardware itself in 2016.

I'd say 2017 is much more reasonable estimate to get a fair launch line up with adequate development time.

At least I'd think Nintendo has some sensibility to not repeat the mistake of the Wii U with it's launch and software droughts.

I'd expect a new hardware device to have a modicum of variety of software available on day one.

It would be a fair expectation that Nintendo's in house dev staff has been working on a few titles to be ready by the launch of the device, also factoring devkits that any 3rd parties get to work with and also have something they may work on.

I think 2016 is too soon to have the NX and enough software to support it. 2017 seems more realistic in my opinion. At least I don't expect Nintendo to release a new box without enough software to showcase at launch.

not too bold of a prediction. they've worked on 3 Nintendo franchises thus far: Punch Out, Mario Strikers, and Luigi's Mansion

you're right. I need to go further.

No wiimote support. Gamepad or Pro Controller

release date: Oct.

tap amiibo for cosmetic Mario Gloves, or Zelda, DK, etc

Tell us, the game starts with an "M"?

Just tell us this. We won't figure it out with only that hint.

I have no idea what the title of the game will be, but historically for that series, it does not start with M.

It actually seems like a lot of people already know what this is, since I've been getting unsolicited DMs going "Hey, it's _____, right?" It's a really poorly kept secret somehow.

It will likely never happen, but I'd appreciate something like this:

Right now, a game by Next Level Games in an established franchise seems the most reasonable.

Sounds like Pikmin 4 or Diddy Kong Racing 2 then.

I thought the launch was good for a launch but that's because the bar is so low and launches are usually shit or very lacking.

I think with the position they are in now, they need a huge launch.

Even if it won't guarantee hotcake sales, it would show confidence and make people take them seriously.

I think they need a few Mario 64ish quality titles and some solid other ones or they shouldn't even bother.

They would have needed, lets call it a momentum game. Something like Splatoon, Mario Kart and Smash. What Smash was for Gamecube, Wii Sports for Wii, OOT 3D for 3DS etc. If WiiU would have one of those earlier and a not so catastrophic reveal it would have been solid. While there are many more lessons, better reveal and a game that says only on NX in the most compelling way are the most obvious lessons in terms of launch.

"historically for that series, it does not start with M."
as in it's not out of the question that the title could start with an M but probably won't.
like, the first two games were called Super Mario Strikers, not just Mario Strikers.
so it's Super Mario Strikers U

edit
first game was super. second game wasn't. Mario strikers is out.

Nintendo has unannounced games and aren't holding everything for NX. Shocking News. Seriously the whole NX this and that gets so fucking old. Shutup about NX.

Interested to see what it is, even if its the already "announced" Pikmin 4. Tho some pople are saying NLG may have a second team now? I'd be down for Mario Strikers online since theres no online one now if its not rushed like Mario Tennis and actually has a good character selection unlike Mario Tennis and Mario Kart's. Forgot what the previous Striker's cast was but more off the wall stuff like Funky and King Boo, more characters that should be there like Diddy and Birdo, and less usual stuff.

New IP by NLG would be cool too.

I'll probably like almost anything from Nintendo tho lol.

ShockingAlberto called it a "poorly kept secret", I can't think of anything other than Diddy Kong Racing 2 that's been brought up multiple times. Pikmin 4 is hardly a secret either.
