Rise of the Tomb Raider coming to PC Steam on January 28

Can anyone confirm that Steam is cool with just dropping the pre-load files into steamapps\depotcache before pre-loading and it will just discover them like it does with normal game files?

My mate at work has appalling download speeds and I'm trying to help him out by taking the files in for him tomorrow.

Finally finished my coverage of the PC version! Posting it today sometime, I believe!

Hell yes. Pumped.

Completely unrelated note, I loved the deep dive video of RoTTR for Xbox One. It was detailed and a great watch.

Any chance you all would ever do a deep dive of Killzone 2? I know it is old, but I would love to see a video breakdown of all of the techniques used to make that game what it is. I still go back and read the article from time to time.

They are not an authorized reseller. Yes, you will get codes, but that doesn't mean that the code was obtained in a lawful manner. Same stuff as G2A, etc.

While they aren't "authorized", I don't think it's fair to lump them in the same category as G2A. G2A are many degrees more shady than cdkeys.

It is lawful. It's just a digital international marketplace loophole.

Nothing illegal about it. Maybe morally objectionable if you like but certainly not illegal.

Should be okay if you also drop the matching appmanifest file into the common folder. If anything you could always supply him with the decrypted files tomorrow/the day after tomorrow ;)

Also: This thread. People getting wound up by performance preferences of others and now the same old key reseller debate. Just buy from them at your own risk and descretion and don't complain if your key gets revoked which usually doesn't happen *shrug*

Yeah, all those sites are legit and lawful and 100% not shady until stuff like this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/238090/discussions/0/540744936577983546/ happens.

It's OK though, if your game gets revoked you can always blame the publisher.

Don't be such a drama queen, if that's all you've got, you're not making a very convincing argument.

Shutting up now.

So they are pretty reliable then? 38 bucks for a Steam code, I will jump on that if they are legit.

Such a sketchy name for a game sale website though!

They buy boxed copies in bulk from low price regions, that's why they sell it for that price. When you get your key it's legit a pic of the box cdkey.

Legit.

Drama queen? How? Where?
And there's tons of situations in which keys were revoked (note that I never said that it WILL happen, I said that it MAY happen) and people were quick to blame the publishers for it, instead of even thinking about their place of purchase's legitimacy.
Also note that I was never arguing about this stuff. I posted about it after some users asked about CDKeys' legitimacy.

Isn't SSAA super demanding? Why not have MSAA as a middle ground?

coding an effective msaa solution in a deferred renderer seems to be very difficult. crytek is the only developer i can think of atm who has achieved it(crysis 3). every other implementation(frostbite, UE3, all ubisoft games etc) performs worse while offering substantially worse edge coverage

Yup. You'd likely need to pull the card out to see the required numbers, but that's a small price to pay.

Well shit. Almost did that but then ended up buying in on CDKeys.

Oh well. I'm sure the games worth the money.

Wow amazing. Wish they'd patch the Bone too

It on the bone could honestly be a symptom of getting it to run at the framerate there that they want. Kind of like how ND induced 1 frame of lag in order to get the TLOU remastered up to 60 fps.

Just a hunch of course.

Is there a thread for the DF report yet?

I am still miffed that Sony still uses their own custom buttons. ABXY should just replace them, as they are more common.

I guess it's annoying for people who are new to gaming, but they probably aren't playing PC games with a PS4 controller regardless.

There's this awful stuttering that happens from time to time, and I can't figure out why. I've moved the game to an SSD, turned Purehair on and off, nothing makes a noticeable difference. It's normally only happening in cutscenes, but it just did it during a set piece and nearly killed me. Hope it's addressed. Maybe I should set textures to High and try that. I have a 970.

Here's a vid of it.

I love preloads. Even when you have a slow connection, it's still there immediately on release day. Can't wait for this game. This first or The Witness, tough choices

I don't remember the specifics but very high textures require 4gb of VRAM, it could be the root of your issues.

Could be that plus Purehair causing the problem so severely, but yes, once I turned Purehair off and the textures to High, it seems to have improved.
