Well growing up I was a fan so I'm in for new adventures of Johnny Quest or Space Ghost!

Some of these seem tonally off

And this May, DC Entertainment is taking you back to those days with an all-new line of comics based on your favorite Hanna-Barbera characters. Featuring books like Scooby Apocalypse, Future Quest, Wacky Raceland and The Flintstones, DC is looking not to rehash old stories, but revitalize the characters in a new day and age — while keeping their charm, of course.

Oh man, I remember seeing a lot of these when I was younger in the early days of Cartoon Network (when it was essentially Boomerang), watching TV on the big-ass original satellite cable.

Edit: Also, I get that they're going for old-school Jonny Quest but why no Jessie? She was in that one too.

I love the art style of everything here. That said, you're never going to get me to take Space Ghost seriously, Hanna Barbara. I just can't look at him without thinking "cutcutcutcutcutcut"

EDIT: Wait, did they say "Scooby Apocalypse"?

I want Wacky Races to be show instead of a comic so bad.

I actually like this. This could be just as goofy as Scooby Doo always is even with the new character designs. I have no problem with them updating them like this. Actually not true. I have issues with that stupid mustache on Shaggy but it's the only thing making that beard work (he's always had the scruff I think. They just let it grow out here.). Far better then that other example posted. Also if anyone has seen the Scooby Doo movies from the 00s and early 10sI believe it's not that far off from the character designs used then. They were modernized with classic outfits not used. In those films they used gadgets sometimes as well I think. This series and characters have changed over the years. This new design isn't a leap at all. It's a logical progression I think.

Future Quest seems like it could be interesting. This is likely the only way you'd see many of these characters again.

The art for Scooby was weird, but the idea is novel

Aging them up... imagine more seasoned mystery solvers who have seen some stuff in their day

They could put the Scooby gang in to any setting or circumstance and I wouldn't bat an eye. It's proven to be a pretty malleable franchise.

And Birdman being played straight would take some getting used to.

That Penelope Pitstop is rad. Now where's the post-apocalypse Dick Dastardly?

I think there is possibly more content of him and Space Ghost being played for laughs then straight heroes as they were originally intended at this point.

I think it there could be a nice middle ground. Have fun with the setting and not go full retard, which would get old quick.

"Wacky Races meets Mad Max" seems like an idea that sounds better than it is.

I'm in two minds. I'm certainly curious, so it's got that going for it!

What the hell will the Creepy Coupe be like?

(It's hard to tell, but the driver of the Compact Pussycat - which, incidentally, isn't terribly compact - doesn't look female)

Edit: I'm not sure about the Anthill Mob basically looking like Borderlands Psychos, though.

Judging by this the ghosts are real this time as Scooby Doo communicates with happy spirits to search for clues, Freddy and Daphne are action heroes and Shaggy is a shaman of some sort. Velma still Velma.

Velma has always been the best member of the gang, she didn't need am update.

Velma looks like she's the kid of the group now.
She looks smaller than Scooby Doo.

The Mean Machine will make or break this title, mark my words.

Future Quest?

Yes.

Everything else?

Nope.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.

As long as Dastardly is recognisably Dastardly and Muttley's not a brave knight or a king who's been crowned, just plain old Muttley, the snickering hound.

I was half expecting to see Weapon Brown on the list, that webcomic that's a big ass newspaper comic strip character crossover set in a Mad Max type world.

I still have Comico issues of Johnny Quest somewhere, along with the Space Ghost one shot from the same publisher (illustrated by Steve Rude)

Great stuff.

I recognize this is a reference to the satirical bit from Tropic Thunder but I kinda feel like using it outside of that specific context loses the satirical value and corrupts it to the more vulgar common usage.

I'm not trying to police you, but thought I'd offer something to think about.
