Barry wasn't adopted until he was 10 or 11, and Barry & Iris were friends before Joe adopted Barry. It's really not that weird.

I think it's weird and creepy too. I also think it's weird Joe doesn't mind. He refers to Barry as his son and he has no issue with him wanting Iris his daughter. I would love for Wally to make jokes if he finds out about it.

I think the thing that bugs me the most about Barry and Iris is that the first half of the first season is basically Iris thinking of Barry like a brother, so her forming feelings for him just comes off as creepy Dexter season 6 type issues.
I'm fine with Barry because it's clear he started liking her before he became her foster brother, but I dunno, seems like for the first while of season 1, Barry is just a brother so it's creepy in a way.
That said I've been wanting WestAllen together forever, so I wish they would hurry it up.

That would probably still fit with my "Jay split in two" theory. Jay used Velocity-6, it ended with him & Zoom being split in two and (in your scenario) Good Jay being overtaken by Evil Jay, hence (again, in your scenario) Good Jay being locked up.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself: if you think two people who aren't blood relatives having sexual desires for one another is exactly as weird as two people who are blood relatives, then you are the weird one here.
It can be on a continuum of weird, fine, but they aren't equivalently weird.

No. No. My mom was adopted, so I have multiple cousins who are all near my age and not technically blood related but still as gross to me as my cousins on my dad's family. If you're family, it's icky, blood or not. The best thing about season 2 is they've downplayed the Barry/Iris relationship, except in Earth-2 where Joe didn't take in Barry.

I thought we could've left the whole incest argument with last season. It's dumb that they did it but considering the ages of Barry and Iris and their already being friends (and on Barry's end already had a crush on) when he moved in they didn't have it imprinted on either of them of it being icky regardless of the legal standing of it being viewed as a form of incest even though now they're grown adults. I guess at least Barry didn't take the West name... So there's that.

Going back to find the breach GIFs I saw this again and I think I forgot to thank you for it.
There's always going to be some weirdness there, just like on Dexter. Or in Japanese stuff. Christ I've played two JRPGs in critically well regarded series with the adopted but in love story recently.
Flash has the benefit at least, of Barry being "adopted" later in life than other stories so it's a little less weird. But still, after so many "you're my dad" speeches to Joe where they constantly reinforce the familial aspects of their group, it's always going to feel a bit weird to me.
