Not confirmed: Dark Souls 3 PC framerate to be locked at 30 fps?

Why is someone contacting customer support for framerate on a game that is not released yet? Why is someone even contacting customer support about framerate? People are weird sometimes.

Seriously. I mean, how would they even know?

Yeah, putting "disgusting" and "60fps" next to each other wasn't a good idea, was it?

I better not get tagged for this.

I'm just saying I'm glad I'm totally fine with Bloodborne's performance, and people that refuse to play great games just because the framerate isn't perfect to them are crazy people to me.

I wouldn't say i'm fine with bloodborne's performance. It dips well into the low 20's for me on a regular basis. It's still my favorite ps4 game but I would have liked a solid 30 fps, even if it meant less dust and fancy lighting effects or even a less open, connected world. I would have sacrificed some scope and sheen for a more stable experience, especially online which i'm pretty sure dipped into the low teens. super disappointing in my opinion.

Ya'll need to take a fuckin breath. PC is a secondary market for From. Master Race shit like this is cringe worthy.

Not wanting to be limited to console frame rate with 5x the power is "master race shit"?

How is wanting to run a game as smooth as my hardware allows "master race shit"?

Does anyone have any evidence that Bloodborne uses a completely new engine and not just a altered version of the engine used in Dark Souls or Dark Souls 2?

I think the engine is loosely based on the same engine the previous games used (PhyreEngine).

The Bloodborne engine is different enough in that has issues (namely the framepacing issues which the previous Souls games didn't have, and based off the beta Dark Souls 3 has as well.

Secondary market my ass

I thought Bloodborne was fine at 30fps.
That said, the difference between 30fps and 60fps in Dark Souls was huge. 60 makes 30 look like shit, but if you get used to 30, you tend not to notice a difference.

Still, if Bloodborne was on PC and at 60fps, I would never play it at 30 again.

60 is too good.

Will buy and play at 30fps if I have to, but am also putting my faith in 'Durante and friends'.

Unfortunately the one that ran at 60fps "out-the-box" sold less than the one that was a quick-and-dirty parity port.

Those figures don't really make a case for it being a critical selling point.

They should start including a free bottle of Xanax every time someone buys a game on their computer.

Probably because unlocked frame rate causes engine problems? Just like in Dark Souls 1 and 2. Assuming this rumor is even true? I stand by my calm the fuck down post.

This post reeks of jealousy.

So jealous I'm going to sell my 980 and buy an XBone.

Does his personal preference include 30fps?

I guess I got my answer.

And some people were throwing personal insults at me for asking a genuine question.

MAN from MvsG has also stated that it's all but confirmed at this point, but we'll see.

Either way I don't really care. DS1(before the PC port) and BB both ran at 30fps and I prefer both of them to DSII.

It might help if you quoted or pointed out the posts that are "Master Race shit" instead making a blanket statement.

Why is it cringe worthy wanting games to run as well as the hardware allows on an open platform where users own many different kinds of set-ups? Some years in the future even weak systems will be able to run this at 144fps out of the box as long as it isn't hard locked by the developer from the beginning. Why is it cringe worthy wanting games to take advantage of the hardware they run on?

Dark Souls 2 has never been sold for $5 like the first one

Well that's the problem with numbers, you can make any story out of them. Maybe more people bought DS1 because of Durante's work on it, and less bought DS2 because of the stories tied to what a mess it was, as well as being considered worse than DS1. However his point that PC is not a secondary market is still accurate, and any team with a head in their shoulders should know what the PC crowd expects from games.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Maybe because of all of the issues it caused. Having equipment break down at twice the rate is why I stopped playing it and now that it's fixed, I have no desire to go back to it

A. Thats the dumbest reason to stop playing I've heard

B. Then don't do anything like that in the sequel when you know you'll be selling a lot of PC copies.

Surely the fact they fixed it means it cant be the reason that Dark Souls 3 isn't 60fps?

Assuming this is true of course.

Yes because its been on the store longer, been 5 bucks many times and even been in a humble bundle if I recall. This is terrible logic.

Long tail sales. DSII will get there.

I didn't buy a new computer to play games at 30fps. If I wanted that I would just play on my ps4 or xbox1.
While this could apply to laptops or entry level gaming PCs... yeah, no one wants to spend as much or more on a video card as they would on the console ALONE only to play at the same fidelity as on consoles anyway.

One game came out in 2012 and has been reduced many times.

One game came out in 2014 and as such hasn't been reduced as much.

So it's obvious which one would have sold more.

You insulted people because they want to be able to run the game at a certain standard that their hardware is more than capable of handling.

I personally found the issues negligible in the first two games. Running it a 60 was more than worth it for me and many others.

Also, you need to calm down.
-----------------------------

On another note... Although it is a bummer that they don't have the talent of what 1 or 2 man groups are capable of with games like DS1 and Zesteria.

I'm not giving this too much weight seeing as how it's just customer service though.

You don't consider looking at the time frames involved for each or the prices and their variance and think that that is the right conclusion?

Brilliant

It's worth noting that DS1 has been sold for $5 many times in many Steam sales and DS2 has never been that low. Also, even though DS2 has sold at discount in many Steam Sales, it has never been featured as a daily or on the main page of any sale which is odd considering DS1 has several times which I think has contributed to fewer impulse purchase sales.

No it's not.
The 'master race shit' post is bullshit.
But saying that DS biggest plataform is PC is another one.
Souls series house still on PlayStation like always.

Last numbers I could find were in 2015 and by then DS2 had sold 2.3 million, almost a 1 million of which was on PC, and the rest was shared by PS3 and Xbox 360 (couldn't find a split).

So yeah, PC is probably the highest selling SKU. Not only that, but given that the majority of sales on PC are digital, it's ABSOLUTELY the most profitable sku by a long shot. Same dealy for DS1, actually I think PC outsold the PS3 version considerably here.
