PSVR Price: $399/399/£349/¥44,980, no camera/move, launching October

The cinema stuff is a huge gimmick. VR doesn't have the pixel density yet and it's the equivalent of watching movies at 480p.

It's a cool demo for a sense of scale, but I wouldn't watch things in it repeatedly.

What are we expecting the PS4 to be for Black Friday??

(Black Friday PS4 Price) + PSVR Price + DOAX3 = Cost of my new Setup at the end of the Year.

Edit*

Oh...I need camera and move too? Ok...add that in....if I need it.

This is what I'm waiting to see lol.

I doubt it will get official support from Sony but I could see somebody getting it to work on PC. If they do I'll probably get one along with Oculus.

It's funny to see the same people ITT celebrating that were declaring Oculus DOA at $599. After the camera and Move controllers you need to work this it's not gonna be far off.

Stop.

Pretty much the cost of a new PS4, that's what I was expected. Not that bad of a deal. I'm not thinking of getting it as soon as it releases but it's something I might consider getting when all the cool stuff starts coming out for it

$399 is pretty good as I will consider it if the games are there.

$299 was the impulse buy price point in my opinion but that probably wasn't viable.

So it doesn't need the move and camera? What do you lose if you just get the headset?

Presumably you can still do the virtual screen experience without a camera, but pretty much everything else will require it. Move controllers will depend on the game, since the DS4 can be used with limited tracking (and as a controller).

Not sure, but assuming decent support I'm more likely to buy this over either of the PC ones, hopefully someone hacks to to work on PC as well.

What the hell is wrong with everyone? You all wanted the headset, camera and move controllers all for $399? So your basically telling me that Rift and Occulus are severley over priced? Or is it because you are all butthurt that people getting PSVR are paying a hell of a lot lower than the PC crowd?

People complaining about the Move are being a bit ridiculous, but as far as I'm aware that camera is required, so not including it is a bit misleading IMO.

Yeah honestly, thinking about it, it's a kinda shitty price.

The Rift comes with an Xbox One controller, a camera, a remote and two games bundled with it, and it has better specs.

and it requires an expensive as balls PC. They're for different markets.

Great but this needs more games. I'm not happy with current lineup of titles, hoping for a game with more traditional gameplay.

The savings start now. I was hoping that would announce some type of update to Move, similar to the Oculus Touch (E3 perhaps?). But regardless, I'm all in. Cinematic Mode! I really hope that holds up well.

Don't think DOAX3 is releasing here in the states.

Anyone that has a PC capable of running either the Oculus or Vive should have never considered the PSVR in the first place, price be damned.

$50 more than I thought. Was thinking $399 camera included as the max.

Still excited for it, but I have to say I gotta feel let down with that release date.

wait til black friday for discounts ;) but maybe it will have a small price drop for the holidays :)

decent price at $399, really thought they would go for $499

when can I try it for myself?

Pretty sure it's going to be sold out for Christmas this year, unless they can do some insane production numbers.

Will people actually think of the strategy here before they type. It's not like Sony could bundle a move controller and camera because what about If you already have a camera and move controller, your gonna end up with duplicate peripherals. Who's gonna buy that? I'm sure they'll offer a bundle but 399/349 is a good price for the headset, even better if you already own the extra peripherals.

No its not, so playing VR games is the same then?

PSVR is 480P, Rift and Vive would be 720p right?

Save our dollar Trudeau.

I'll definitely keep an eye on this. I'm not rushing to blindly pre-order, but damn that is tempting. Maybe I'll make that the sole item on my wish list come Christmas.
