It's going to be a long day. I haven't slept since I had to finish some work, and now I'm heading to the office.

While waiting for HTC to call me and say they don't know shit. xD

Just finished an online support chat with 'Patryk', who said my order is processing (UK, Paypal), that it'll be shipped 'maybe today or tomorrow' and 'after a couple of days should be delivered'. Which is good, if a little vague.

Well I love you all anyway. This has been a godlike weekend. Amazing stuff. You guys will be busy for quite a while with all the launch content.

I wonder if Virtual Desktop will recognize my iPad Pro as a second monitor, while using the Duet app. I wish the Virtual Desktop app could simulate multi screens, without physically owning them.

The chances of getting it tomorrow are dangerously closing to 0 with each minute passing by.

AFAICT DHL will pick up until 4pm for estimated next-day delivery, so it's not approaching zero yet. (and given it's a warehouse, they may accept pick-ups after that anyway /shrug)

That would be a bit shitty because I paid with Paypal since February and Austria is just around the corner from Prague.

Paypal makes you skip all the mess with the cc charge problems so yeah, i guess Paypal people will be the first one to get a shipping confirmation

I'm not hopeful for mine tho, moneys reads as reserved and i've had countless more expensive online purchases on it so it shouldn't be a problem, but it has been like that since Tuesday so i really don't think it matters much atm

From Laura's Destructoid review conclusions: "While the Oculus is a very strong VR headset, the Vive feels like it's in a league of its own comparatively"

I remember being torn to shreds on this forum when I made a similar comment a few months back after trying both of the final non consumer versions, the difference that vives tracking and motion controllers make is just monumental.

Very excited about the future of VR when everyone catches up.

It was £748. No import duty as they're being sent from within the EU. Free trade treaties and EU agreements and all that.

I'm so close to ordering one, but I just don't have a clear room big enough for it. Any idea if Oculus is sent from within the EU as well?

I feel good switching to the Vive now. It was difficult as Oculus was always a synonym for VR for me, but I'm expecting Vive to be awesome.

You have the space. Just clear it.

Order this already.

The biggest room I can realistically clear is 3.3M along one wall, 3M along another and 4.5M from corner to corner. That is just a little too small compared to that image in the review :(

My wife would divorce me if I started clearing the living room.

Review makes me feel warm and fuzzy about my pre-order. Gonna be a blast. My game room has an open 10' x 7' space if I move chairs out of the way, so I should be ok.

3 x 3 meters will be enough for most room scale games. (at least the ones we know about)

The only game that is over that currently is Unseen Diplomacy.

Well,1.5x2m is the smallest official size for room space, so 3x3.3m is more than that. You're good to go!

That's almost exactly the size of my VR room, and it's sufficient for all but one room-scale game announced. (And that particular one is a small demo only originally intended for a trade show)

The games I can only play on the Oculus Store just don't excite me nearly as much as the games that require motion controllers. And many games seem to be coming to the Vive "eventually" like Project Cars, Adrift, radial G, etc.

I'm getting both the rift and the vive, but I truly believe the vive has the better lineup both currently and going forward. The only oculus exclusive game I really want to play is Lucky's Tale - chronos just doesn't look like it would do it for me.

"I've used the Vive for the better part of two weeks now as a daily part of my routine and I've not once experienced motion sickness, fatigue or eye strain. I have instead experienced gaming in a form that's more exciting than anything else I have played in some time. I've used it for work, for gaming, for movies and for everything in between.

VR is here, and I have been sold as a believer. While the Oculus is a very strong VR headset, the Vive feels like it's in a league of its own comparatively."
Oculus is probably feeling some pressure right now.

They really should. Sitting and standing is nothing compared to room scale. Launching without Touch was a mistake.
Even without walking around, just the (very) limited hand tracking solution in Hydra + Rift in HLVR was enough of a taste to convince me that the Vive is basically a generation ahead right out the gate.

If this becomes the trend in all the reviews, definitely.

One of the worst things that could happen for oculus is that Giant Bomb tries the vive on their livestream and goes apeshit over it.

I think this might be a bit of a stretch. But I think they will have some goofy fun with some of the games.

I'm going to wait for GB's Vive stream tomorrow I think. I have £790 left in my frivolous spending account and really wanted to buy a new mouse (my Naga is fucking up) and also really wanted to get some sleeved cables for my new build. The decision between this and Oculus is a painful one.

That would be interesting to see, but I fully expect the GB crew to be just as blasé about the Vive.

well part of their complaints was that so many of the Oculus launch titles were just normal games with VR cameras. I think the nature of some of the Vive's launch titles will separate them from conventional games that they might be a bit more interesting.

But yeah, giantbomb tends to be harshly jaded.
